I recommend these two manga if you're looking for shoujo that features a protagonist with a more vibrant, unique, and comical personality than your typical shoujo.

If you liked
Toradora!
add
...then you might like
Tonari wa Nani wo Kuu Hito zo
add

These manga have a similar relationship dynamic -- a domestic minded guy ends up taking care of his neighbor, and they end up becoming good friends with no notion of romance at first. But these manga are still so different you definitely won't feel like they're just copying each other, which is a problem I have with some recs. Toradora is a high school romantic comedy, while Tonari wa Nani wo Kuu Hito zo is a cooking manga with a romance in it, in a college setting.

Ohayou, Ibarahime

Isshuukan Friends and Ohayou, Ibarahime are both romances between a very pure hearted boy who befriends a shy girl whose unique supernatural circumstances prevent her from socializing with other people.

Bitou Lollipop

While Bitou Lollipop is more humorous, when it's being more serious, it has rather similar sorts of relationship drama to Bokura ga Ita.

Jewelry: Hane to Kotori no Subarashiki Hibi

Both of these manga feature a gap-moe type romance with a guy that looks like a scary delinquent except it turns out he's quite pure hearted.

If you liked
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen
add
...then you might like
Kore wa Ai ja Nai node, Yoroshiku
add

I feel these two are somewhat similar in their overall impression, but Kore wa Ai janai is the straight up version while Kaguya-sama is the over the top parody version. Both are a bickering / rivalry type of romance. Kaguya and Shirogane both don't want to lose by being the first to confess. Kujou wants Izumi to remember something, but he can't straight up tell her, or else he feels like he'd lose. If you enjoyed Kaguya-sama in part because you actually like shoujo, I think you might like Kore wa Ai janai. If you like Kore wa Ai janai for its humorous rivalry, you'll almost certainly like Kaguya-sama.

Kore wa Ai ja Nai node, Yoroshiku
add

The male protagonists of these two manga are somewhat similar. Both are handsome, have a cool reputation, and popular with girls, but in reality are something of a basket case. Both also have a sort of rival/bickering type relationship with their leading girl whom they end up falling for despite themselves.

Twin Role

These manga both feature an older sibling who gets a kick out of trolling their younger sibling for their love problems. Occasionally the older sibling might even be of some help, but only if it also amuses them.

Hatsu*Haru

Twin Role
add

These manga both feature the pov of their male protagonists who are pretty similar as well -- they come off as arrogant and popular among the girls of the class, but really they're kind of an awkward basket case that can't seem to get things right with the one girl they're into.

Both these manga feature a "demon king" romance. If the reason you liked either of these was for the type of romance it had, you'll probably like the other.

If you liked
Jin
add
...then you might like
Isekai Yakkyoku
add

Both Isekai Yakkyoku and Jin are about highly accomplished medical specialists from our world being transported to another that does not have our medical technology. Jin is the realistic take on this premise, where he is transported back in time to 1800s Japan, at the start of modern western medicine. It delves deep into extremely technical medical knowledge. Isekai Yakkyoku is the fantasy version, where the protagonist not only has ridiculous pharmaceutical knowledge, but also the super power to create any material he knows the chemical formula to, thus skipping all the hard work of having to recreate chemistry.

Jin

...then you might like
Dr. Stone
add

Dr. Stone and Jin fit sort of a similar niche of a person ends up in some different civilization that lacks our current scientific knowledge. Dr. Stone is the over-the-top shounen version of this premise -- having survived an apocalypse, Senku is the only person that can restore human civilization, with his super-power level command of math and science, and for a manga about science there's still a whole lot of shounen style fighting. In the meantime, Jin is the super otaku seinen version of this trope. Jin just happens to be a neurosurgeon, and so uses his ultra specialized medical knowledge to save whatever medical emergency that pops up this week. Both manga dive into minute detail about very specific scientific knowledge. If you like this kind of story, you'll probably enjoy both.

Hikaru no Go

Kimi no Tame ni Hiku Chopin
add

Kimi no Tame ni Hiku Chopin is basically the shoujo version of Hikaru no Go. One is about Go and the other about piano, but they share the same premise of ghosts of a famous real life genius of the past teaches a complete novice their profession while at constant risk of being discovered for having some hidden supernatural talent. Hikaru no Go, being shounen, focuses on competition, rivals, and training, while Kimi no Tame ni Hiku Chopin is more concerned with romance.

If you liked

Venus wa Kataomoi
add

The relationship dynamic between the protagonists in Lovely Complex and Venus in Love are pretty similar. They're both rather goofy birds of a feather that for various reasons aren't interested in each other at first. The two series are also of a similar type of romantic comedy manga, where the comedy is mostly in seeing the protagonists goof around.

If you liked
Arisa
add
...then you might like
Boku dake ga Inai Machi
add

Though one is shoujo and one is shounen, Arisa and Erased are both mystery thrillers starring school aged kids. Arisa in particular is unusual for definitely being shoujo in that it has shoujo style art, female protagonists, and a focus on two sisters' relationship as siblings, but it has almost no romance to speak of, instead completely focusing on the plot, so I'd recommend it even for those who normally dislike shoujo.

If you liked
Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!

Hoankan Evans no Uso: Dead or Love
add

They are both episodic romantic comedy manga, where the main conflict is that the protagonists are over-the-top clueless to the point of stupidity (but in a funny and endearing way) about romance. Another similar point is the two starring couples share the same pastimes so hard (in Tomo-chan it's any and all sports, martial arts, and physical activities and in Evans it's busting baddies and gunslinging) that they see each other as rivals (or at least friendly competition), but to any outside observers, it begs the question of why would they consider dating anyone else.

Pandora Hearts

There are quite a few thematic similarities between Pandora Hearts and Fullmetal Alchemist. If you liked one, you'll most likely like the other. - both are plot heavy dark fantasies - both have young, plucky blonde teenage boy protagonists - both feature a large horrific, mysterious tragedy that happened in the past - both have tragic or horrible major plot points, especially as more of the past or the true nature of things is revealed - both have a missing, mysterious father figure - both feature a pocket watch (haha)

Love! Love! Love!
add

The dynamic between Akane and Yamato is extremely similar to that between Otani and Risa in Lovely Complex. Akane and Yamato constantly bicker in a rather similar comical way, and the other characters observe "they get along well" while the two stubbornly and loudly deny it. They even sort of try to pursue other potential romantic interests, but ultimately have them fail because of their obvious closeness to each other. If you liked Lovely Complex, you'll probably also like Love! Love! Love!, though of the two, Lovely Complex is the better one.
