Man , the end to this show was one of the most frustrating endings I have ever seen.
Like WTF were all those random plot twists supposed to mean, all the important character arcs were just abandoned, for no appearend reason. Like why?
Garahau is set up to be the biggest snitch, I know, but suddenly she was an ally of the feddies all along? ...And Uraki kills her anyways..
Nina has a story arc were she needs to decide what she wants in life and choose her real priorities. She is undecisive and when she is finally about to choose... Well fuck that idea , she was
...
Gatos exgirlfriend all along. Then she turns into the greatest BITCH and sides with Gato, for no appearend reason, the murderer of millions of people who is about to drop a gigantic collony onto earth. Well of course her reoson is "i dont want the two men i love to kill each other, without any purpose" , well the reason is one of them is about to drop a gigantic colony on earth. She threatens Urakis life in the last episode and them comes back to earth like nothing happend, with that stupid smile of hers, while Uraki is like " what the fuck are you doing here?!"
Okay to the main plot: Well the colony was going to drop, well everybody knew it was going to happen. The main conflict is the rivalry between Uraki and Gato... and not even that was ended satisfyingly. Srsly the whole show built towards a grand epic final stand, but the didnt finish it, instead Gato kamikazed into a random ship.
Okay you could argue that this fits the motivations of both characters. Like Gato always said, Uraki has no real motivations which is true. Well he himself is blinded by a facist Ideoligie and also just a figure in a greater scheme. So his bright motivations arent that bright after all.
And Uraki was from the beginning a childish character with his impulsive decisions and his only real motivation is to take revenge on Gato... and not letting a colony destroy earth, which is actually not such a bad motivation...
Uraki is left in empty space, living with an empty heart, Gato kills himself with a burning desire for revolulution, you could put it like this,- still unsatisfying-
Well to conclude each and every Character exept best boy Keith and Burning are all very unlikable.

To be honest I only watched 4 episodes, but I have some issues with the show. The main theme of the show of colour is very interesting and implemented nicely. That's a big plus. What I think is a problem, at least for me is the pacing. With a protagonist that is so uninteresting and uncharismatic it is hard to remain focused. The episodes drag and drag and drag on . I can't stand it. I think the show is lacking compelling story beats. There are some , for example the end of the first episode. But at times , a whole episode has not
...
a single memorable scene. There is no conflict, there is no emotions all that characters are nice, there is no crisis
. Don't get me wrong, not every show can be a high stakes shounen fantasy show. In fact i don't like shounen that much. I know the show is about the personal growth of miss protagonist. The realisation that the world is fun and colorful and she should appreciate life more and she comes to terms with her flaws and that cheesy stuff and that's fine, but it is boring, 90% of the running time nothing is happening.
I think the biggest give away , that this show isn't that great, is the fact that there are now memes about it.
Please if you read this and completely disagree with me, tell me if something interesting happens and in which episode said moment happened....

The show is not bad, but it wasn't good either. There are no overarching themes, all the characters were cliché. Really I bursted out laughing, when the episode with the main guys backstory was. It s like a bad Hollywood movie, stretched over 12 episodes.
You can correct me if I am wrong, but I didn't see any relatable situations or character arcs in the show. The problem of the protagonist is he can't move on from a past event and it catches up to him. Nothing new.
The main theme of the show are the "coils " a new technology that symbolise progress or
...
moving on. Because the protagonist doesn't use them he is stuck in the past , emotionally as well as physically. Even that theme is developed poorly. Even the growth of kyoma was underplayed at the end .
There is not much to gain from the show. The sci fi elements were not explored. The majority of the characters are unimportant and there wasn't a single memorable moment.

Tatami galaxy tackles problems of the Japanese society. In every episode a different part of the "rose colored university life " is criticized, the main complaints are the lack of indivuality, the struggle for popularity and the unconfrontational way of life.
Everyday events are exaggerated to show how deeply flawed the way of thinking the public has. Problems are ignored, because nobody wants to step out of line. People are excluded, because nobody wants to confront them. It is better to be conform, even when everyone is doing it wrong, because to be different is the risky.
Our protagonist hates those ideas. He tries to improve the
...
situation. Even though he tries his best, for better or for worse, he will always be punished for trying something different.
The artstyle repesents the message of the show. Its outstanding, almost delving into experimental animation, tatami galaxy is showing of some unconventional art. Completely branching of the trend of perfect digital animation, the series tries to be different. Embracing individuality even when it comes with imperfections.

This was the perfect ending to a perfect show. I am very happy about how it was handled. I was surprised but it was truly genius.
Spoilers:
I have some remarks about the role of Ougi from now we will also dig into spoiler territory.
I didn't expected Ougi to be a product of Araragis self criticism. I expected Ougi to be the darkness that lies in everyone's heart's. The side that doubts the side that loathe the part of us almost everyone experiences.
The monogatari series is all about the representation of teenage worries represented in a physical form , they are called monsters in the show. When
...
I thought about Araragies depression , it's only natural to expect shinibu. Everything about her design reeks of depression. The energy drain literally sucking the life out of you. The temptation that slefloath brings with it. When Araragie dies it means shinobh is at full power, meaning he killed him self and depression got the best of him. So I think shinobh as a stylistic choice is better fitted as the representation of dark Araragie.
It was clear that Ougi was the Endboss of the show. It wrapped things up nicely. Linking Ougi directly to Araragie was kind of genius, because in saving her meaning saving him self was a very important growth he needed. In the show he was willing to throw is life away every single time, having no self worth. But on the other side, he is saving the bad part of him the manifestation of his self criticism. And in the way he saved her he almost died again so growth that was intended contradicts itself...
Like I said , my interpretation of Ougi as the darkness that lies inside everyone makes more sense for myself, but it's only a personal opinion.
Other parts I enjoyed about the story:
There is a inner logic to explanations I very much enjoy. Like Ougi was created due to the Araragis powers as a vampire . Or Araragie is very attractive because of the immortal powers of a Vampire.
The world that gets built up little over the course of the series get tied up nicely later. Little details like kanbarus mother are used up seasons later. Observant viewers are rewarded.
I see many similarities to the "hero's journey" . For example "call to advanture ", when Araragie finds shinubu in the underground station."death" and "resurrection" are obvious.
The characters are realistic . They experience setbacks like hanekawa that turns to the meddlecat again. It prevents character breaks and make the characters relatable.
There are way to many things I love about this show.
Anyway I love the whole monogatari series it is philosophic it is interesting it is different it is one of my favourite shows of all time . 10/10
