Maikeine: Too Many Losing Heroines is an anime that I discovered completely by chance. As a fairly casual viewer in the romance genre who only thinks of fighting 24/7, I didn't expect to be so captivated, but this anime took me by surprise and could well be the one that will make me dive into the romcom genre for good. From start to finish, Maikeine turned out to be a real "monster" of an anime: a mostruously effective story that didn't let go of me for a single second.

The concept of Maikeine: Too Many Losing Heroines deserves a 10/10 without hesitation. What I

Before Reading : it seems that people are starting to put "funny" to decry all the bad reviews on anime and show how incredible it is, so before doing that, I suggest you read this review until the end and as many times as possible and try to understand that this anime is not perfect and who will always have someone who will find the anime not that good, so respect my opinion which is subgective like yours
thank you for your ateention :D I will not mince my words and directly say the thermal baths in One Phase To define my analysis: Frieren is not worthy of ... being number 1 on MAL, it is not worthy of being considered such a good anime, and I think that Fieren is the most overrated anime in the history of Japanese animation... Well, don't get me wrong, it's a good anime overall, very cool and does the job, it's just not that good that people are selling it, and I think Frieren isn't popular for its quality but especially because of its main theme which is "the loss of a loved one" which emotionally affects the person, who will no longer judge the anime in itself but will clearly judge based on the good that has brought to the person's life. (strength to all people who experience this type of horrible event) And just like "I want to eat your pancreas", "your lie in April" and especially "clannad", these very sad anime have clearly been popular in the animated community for the last 20 years and Frieren is riding this trend, because " Sad" means "Masterpiece", but for me these animes clearly do not deserve the popularity they deserve and will never deserve, it is time to explain why: 1 - Animation : Let's start very strong with one of the strong points of the anime, and it's clearly the animation which is just sensational... it's not revolutionary, but it doesn't need to be, the representation of the decorations are a crazy, the darkness, the fights and all that with a consistent quality from start to finish, in short I don't have much to say on this point...it's not exceptional, but it's clearly the animation of a Number 1, gg Madhouse. Note : 19/20 Realy cool 2 - world and immersion : Continuing on my momentum, it must be recognized that “Frieren” is visually superb. Landscapes have a very simple, even generic concept, but they fulfill their role perfectly. Generic doesn't mean bad, and as a fan of anime with classic fantasy settings, I loved it. I really enjoyed discovering the settings of the anime, which partly makes up for the shortcomings of the work. The immersion is impeccable, notably thanks to the music worthy of an orchestra conductor and the masterful work of the seiyu. Clearly a success on this point. Additionally, the magic and mana system is simple but very well executed, which is, in my opinion, the best part of "Frieren", by far. Note : 20/20 Number 1 Worty 3 - Story and Plot : Let's stop selling "Frieren" as a narrative masterpiece. Yes, the story holds up, but it doesn't really make you dream. Frieren realizes he didn't know Himmel well at his funeral and she is seen crying. This scene is interesting and a good start for Frieren. However, I was more touched by the death of Heiter, where we learned more about him during the first 4 episodes and who had more flavor and interest in discovering this "junk priest". This may sound weird, but that's how it is. I find Himmel's character less interesting, even though he did a lot of good for those around him, including notable characters in the second half of the season, like Wirbel. Himmel is friendly, flirty and helpful, but that's not enough. It's a shame because he is the central character of the work and the reason why we follow Frieren's adventures. His simple character doesn't make him bad as a character, but I found more pleasure in discovering other characters like Heiter, Eisen and his link with Stark, Fern, etc., even if some are not characters keys. That's not what makes "Frieren" overrated, but I'll come back to that. Personally, although the story is simple and effective, it is not enough to maintain my interest. I watched the anime mostly for its humor, its fights (which I'll come back to) and its visuals, rather than for what the anime is trying to tell and its characters' quests. Some quests are interesting, like that of Sein looking for his friend or Denken with his deceased wife and his connection with magic (a rather touching moment, I admit), but not enough for me not to get bored watching the series. Especially in the first part of the season, I wasn't particularly interested in Frieren's quest, even if it holds up. Something that works is not necessarily good. The series becomes more interesting later with the arc of the Class 1 mage graduate and el maestro Ubel and Serie, but you have to wait until episode 18 for that to happen, which is insane. In any case, friends, dose your hype. Rating 12/20 It's OK but nothing more 4 - characters : Okay, this is going to sting again. Stark, Denken, Ubel, Flame, Wirbel and especially Série are the only characters that I can describe as captivating and interesting, especially Série who gives a real flavor to the anime. But many of them appear in the second part of the season. All the other characters, except those I just mentioned, are either average or good but become interesting very late (Frieren herself, for example), or are uninteresting or even bland. Frieren is a character who ended up interesting me very late, during the arc of the competition for first category mages. It is at this moment that we discover his weak points, his relationship with magic and with the archmage Series. but as a protagonist it's a shame since I've been following her since the beginning and I had to wait around 20 episodes to get interested. It's a real shame. Then there is Fern, a character who is neither exceptional nor bad, who has some very likeable moments like her reaction when her staff breaks and her desire to repair it at all costs. Discovering the reasons why she continues magic and her relationship with it is certainly laudable and goes in the direction of what the anime wants to tell (so continue in memory of heiter), but it remains a bit sketchy. I wasn't particularly moved by his motivations. To finish with the trio of protagonists, Stark is the coolest of the three. I enjoyed discovering this character who, although appearing to be a complete idiot, is actually much deeper and really funny. He's a really decent character. In summary, the characters are generally very simple but hold up well enough. But for the majority of them, something is just missing so that I can create a real connection with them and become more interested in them, especially himmel who is the crucial character but who is quite bland. Rating: 13/20, it's correct. 5 - Progress of the anime : Finally, here we are. I'm putting it in the "not recommended" category and not in the "mixed review" because, until then, "Frieren" could be recommended, but in this last part of my review we are going to touch on what is by far the worst part of "Frieren" and why "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" (FMAB) should not be dethroned by it. “Frieren” has a poignant story and good context, but watching 25 minutes per episode is truly a feat because very little happens. What “Frieren” comes up with in his experiments isn’t interesting enough for me to not skip parts of the episode. The discovery of the magic system is not highlighted enough even though it is the best part of "Frieren", and it will not really be highlighted until late in the series (even if it was done during the (Frieren vs. Aura episode, but that's it for one episode, then it gets boring again). The small quests were good, but nothing more for the best ones, like Stark and Fern's fight against the solar dragon for example, but they are bland for the rest (like the quests in the villages where Himmel has legendary status, for example). example). The humor, although it is not a comedy, is excellent and really specific to "Frieren", that's a very good point. The fights, however, really made me feel like I was being played for an idiot. With the exception of Frieren and Fern's fight against Frieren's statue, which for me is the best part of the season, the fights were like those of "Demon Slayer" but without its qualities. That is to say that the progress of the fights was as banal as possible and carried by the animation (whereas in "Demon Slayer", each action of Tanjiro has a meaning and we are in his head to understand it). The fight between Linie and Stark was perfect until the end of the fight where Linie was crushed by the plot armor, and the reason she lost was disgusting. And let's not talk about Frieren's fights, without flavor and without interest, fortunately for her, they gave a weak point because I think that Frieren would have as much interest in being followed as Saitama in a serious anime (it's to say none). So yes, the fights are secondary but it's a shame, because with the magic system, it could have given more flavor to the anime by exploring, for example, why Himmel was so powerful and knowing the techniques of swordsman who make him so cool for others like wirbel for example. The magic system enhances the score, but once again, it comes very late. Rating: 8/20, definitely worth doing again, and it's a shame because I recognize that it has potential Conclusion : I repeat, "Frieren" is far from bad and has its faults like all anime, but that does not justify considering it as number 1 on MyAnimeList (BAD). If you want a poignant and simple story without too much sensationalism and you can last 25 minutes per episode, go watch it to form your own opinion. But for everything else, it's really not up to par. It's just an anime driven by the hype of its community, the biases of the people who watched it, and the condescension of some fans who criticize what they found boring in the first place. Honestly, move on, it's not worth it. I even think it deserves the same treatment as "Demon Slayer", considered "animated" (although this is not true), or season 2 of "Vinland Saga". Final score: 72/100. It's largely acceptable, but go watch another anime instead. (Also sorry for my english i use a translator :/)
