Wonder Egg Priority is a show that delves into psychology in both simple and complex ways. I haven't yet seen any of my friends that could understand what was going on in this show, most specifically its ending, and I'll give you straight facts and proof on things that you may not have caught up to yet.
Story: At first, I thought this show would be just about depression and some teens coping with their personal issues, sure, I would enjoy watching that,

but it would turn out kind of childish, so maybe it wouldn't reach more than 8/10. Then, chapter 10 was aired. This chapter gave the show an extreme turning point. There's Hyphen. There's Frill. There's something else apart from just plain depressive plot.
Welcome to Freud's psychoanalysis in a nutshell.
Chapter 11 was a masterpiece to me. It's not because it talks about the backstory of "them", but instead because it gives us a warm welcome to psychoanalysis. Let's introduce two basic concepts: Eros, which represents the will to live, and Thanatos, the impulses of death. Just as we read in the show, "only warriors of Eros can resist Thanatos". Simply put, we can translate it to this phrase: "only resilient people can resist death's calling".

We're still in episode 11, and we are introduced to another new concept, artificial intelligence. A cute girl with its defects, just like any human, created by two caring humans. Her life turns upside down once one of them chooses to start a romantic life, and this AI wasn't hungry for knowledge, she had much more than that. She was created with selfishness and lacks of empathy. She seeked for influence. She disliked that woman, and due to a simple reason described in Oedipus' complex, she killed her and even after her life became a disaster, she still wanted to influence. She wanted attention. She wanted to be human. She wanted to understand humans. She became Thanatos herself. Even after being destroyed, she kept on influencing on kids her age to follow suicide's path.
====================END OF SPOILERS====================
To defeat death impulses, Wonder Eggs are created, and the girls' goal is to destroy each Wonder Egg person's death impulse in order to receive a certain reward in exchange: bringing back to life their closest person killed by death's influence, with the hope to become strong enough to become warriors of Eros and put an end to Thanatos.

Now, we get introduced to these parallel worlds. Most of my friends thought that we had two Ai versions in the final episode. However, there's three, and you can notice by their clothes. This concept of parallel worlds is just a representation of the Id (Ai with the grey X-shaped hairpin), Ego (Ai with her sunflower hoodie) and Super-Ego (Ai with school uniform and yellow triangle hairpin) of the human mind. Her id, easily influenceable by Thanatos, takes the path of suicide, her ego was barely strong enough to withstand Koito's death, and her super-ego strives to become an Eros warrior.

A story that seemed to have absolutely no sense at all managed to give me a whole new perspective on how to understand psychology, and even made me rewatch the last 3 episodes to truly understand the meaning of it, and I encourage you do too. Absolute 10/10 for me.
Art: If there is one thing that I've been told that people love about this show, is how character designs were made and the very realistic scenery the show is built off. It depicts some great action scenes, beautiful scenarios and characters that are so pretty you're sure to love. I'd give it a 10/10.
Sound: I'm not good, at all, to say if music is great or not. I personally have music tastes that people would find annoying. But for sure, this show knows how to control ambient music extremely well. Music is all cheery and sweet, until you notice your dear character just got wrecked, and just then you feel that the music suddenly stopped, and is just not there to support you from panicking. The opening and ending songs are something to be greatful of, and sound effects get very cool. 9/10.
Characters: Depressed edgy teens, that's what I've been told, and I get it. But it's more than that. I felt their backstories really touching. I found them original, and anyone will be able to feel empathy towards, at least, one character, since all human beings have some sort of Id that will relate to. I loved them, and I can't wait for WEP's special. 9/10
Enjoyment: If you like to enter in the amusing abstract world of human psychology and exploring it with cute characters, beautiful scenery, and feel ready to jump into extremely sensitive topics, then fasten your seatbelts, because this is an absolutely thrilling show that you will be sure to hate and love. 10/10.

First off, this picture drama is supposed to be a small addition to the anime, which I'm sure all of us here watched. A year after this special was made, the movie was released, so it would make sense to watch this beforehand, which is what I did, but trust me, watch the movie first and then this special.
This picture drama contains the response letters of the crew which are pretty much explained in the movie, so once you've watched their process of writing, you can dive in this special since the movie doesn't show what they wrote in detail, making this special a kind ... |
