this anime .... sigh
so saintia shou is like none other of the saint seiya anime series why you may ask?
simple, saintia shou feels like a bad fanfiction created by a girl.any type of manly bravery is gone, reduced to atoms, instead we have beautiful men with luscious hair and in sparkling armor coming to save young ladies in trouble, from athena to shoko.
most of the saint seiya entries never had amazing plot, but this one is just histerically bad, the villains never felt good , not enough development on their side and eris is just a joke, the worst she ever did in
...
the entire series is that she made some saints fight and some already dead souls come back to life. noone died, noone got injured, nothing, absolutely nothing.
The worst though is probably the saints, these "saintias" almost never work as "athena's shadow" as the story wants to believe, and they are saints they are not something else since they were a saint's cloth they don't wear a special saintia cloth, yet almost none of them wear masks, the only new character we saw that is a female and wears a mask is the peacock saint. and probably the most reasonable character in the entire series. these santias never really feel like a normal saint wood that would trade their life at any point if it meant to save athena, they are all very soft and without much reason to fight. for some reason they were stronger than silver saints although seiya and the others were getting absolutely destroyed by silver back in the original. and this anime makes you want to believe that the events happen simultaneously but there are so many issues in terms of the timeline it really makes no sense.
This version of Athena is the worst it has ever been, really week, really vulnerable but dumb and trying to go alone in the place of the main enemy. enough about the characters that both lack the depth and the motivation to even be there, especially that more than 80% through the anime, it sends in a saint we have never seen on the screen before and wants to care for her, and feel like "they have come so far to get here" where besides 3 which we saw relatively early we really don't know anything about them, i would say we barely know anything about any of the characters. And enough about the females the males were not that great either, they do their job well enough as golden saints at being strong and stuff but almost all of them lack any of the complex and more serious nature.
Now to talk about the art, this is by far the worst looking saint seiya entry, and what is really sad is that during the pauses at the middle of the episode we see the manga art of the girls, and it looks, so so so much better than the anime, Athena in the 1988 anime looked leagues better than this Athena in the anime, the special effects for stuff like the attacks are also very lazy and boring, only in episode 9 i saw just something a bit better in the punching move of the MC, but it's still worse than any of the other ryu sei ken's i ever saw. the animation overall of the anime is also pretty boring and bland, the character designs all look really weird. it feels like a 1 girl team made everything in this anime. the fact that i think at parts the 1988 anime looks better than this says a lot.
probably the best thing about this anime is the mediocre soundtrack, worse than most of othe saint seiya entries from the past, but still good enough that you don't mind watching the anime with sounds on.
enjoyment: the worst thing about this anime is that it doesn't even carry on the feeling of the original saint seiya in anyway, you could maybe argue that the golden saints are not that far away in terms of character, and that still mostly carries on to saga, milo and aiolia, besides 1 of the saintias none of them really care for athena and/or following her around as a shadow. i have heard that the manga is better but i review the anime a 4/10 since it lacks almost everything the original had and it is no doubt the worst entry in the saint seiya animated series.

So Saint Seiya Omega, the non-canon sequel to saint seiya
I will judge this compared to the original Saint Seiya series, and will include little to no spoilers, enjoy:
Story: the story has 2 sagas each with their own main enemy and with separate arks inside each saga. Unlike the original saint seiya anime this anime has more characters that are actually developed and we get more insight on them, it isn't just gold saints and main cast. the story actually has turns that you don't see coming at first or has some minor characters that have some deeper feelings and thoughts. I wish i could
...
talk more about the plot but it would have to include spoilers
Art: The anime generally looks good, far from revolutionary but always good enough to watch it, even when paused. the animation has sakuga in it, it is just not the most common, but it can make some scenes really good because of it, the special effects for all the special moves are also crispy looking.
Sound: the music is pretty good, some of them really stand out like "Eternal Saints" "Like Pegasus" "Lonely Saints" "face determination" "those that should protect" all are really good osts that are quite memorable, my favourite probably being Eternal saints, this along the 4 openings really make the music feel good in the anime always adding on to the visuals happening on the screen. In terms of sound effects , i think it wasn't exactly the greatest but it did it's job pretty well. later on in the series however there are some insert songs that really don't do justice to the rest of the ost's and due to the very nature of insert songs and the presence of voice it felt a bit off-putting.
Character: Probably the part where it differs the most to saint seiya, both in execution and in idea. Although at first while watching it might seem like the show forgot about the older characters, in the 2nd saga the older characters shone a lot and really showed their improvements along with change that comes from : time , experience, age and events around them. The new characters however are also really good, they are much more complex, and even characters that at 1st glance seem like just a throw away character for no reason, still show emotions, thoughts, feelings, it makes both the world and themselves feel like more than a plot device. and especially the main cast , had so much change overtime, way more than the original bronze saints. and although some characters resemble a bit a character from the original anime, they are still different enough that you can not just call them a "reskin".
I genuinly think this is a good anime, it both rewarded me as an older fan of the series that watched the previous installments with some bits of lore that i knew before hand like for example older characters, as well being entertaining enough with new things like for example the element system, which adds a bit more flavour in 1st saga. Most of the mistakes this anime does, are what the original anime probably did as well to a certain degree, this anime is not perfect, i would say that 1st saga focused on the main new bronze saints more, while the 2nd saga showed a lot more of the other characters along with the older characters. but even with that in account, the anime always tried to change something, to show something unusual ,to stop things from being stale, and although some people dislike some of the foes coming back again and again, i felt like i was seeing how the enemies themselves were changing and growing along the heroes, kind of like looking at the other side of the fence.
Overall i still really enjoyed this anime a solid 9/10 for me, not quite close to 10, it would have to change some things like for example the 1st 10-15 episodes were honestly not that great, same with the beginning of the 2nd saga, they were only a way to either introduce ore reintroduce a character although it never felt as bad as for example reborn's first few episodes.

So I have just finished this side story. Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold (this should be watched after Elysium btw)
Honestly the plot is not that complex , but if you are probably reading this you are a saint seiya fan anyway and you know how "amazingly complex" saint seiya's plot usually is.
After the events happening in Hades Chapter: Inferno where our lovely cast of the 12 golden saints break through the Wailing wall, we see Aioria waking up in a snowy place, we find out it's actually Asgard and we might a girl named Lyfia that wants to get killed by the current ruller
...
which is not Hilda. More God Warriors to fight, more kicking some main bad guy's ass and more cloths upgrade.
However the only reason i don't want to call this one a blatent story that we have seen many times, we have a wide cast of really good underdeveloped and with not enough screentime characters, they changed up some stuff. No more Hyoga, no more stripping Shiryuu, no more peacefull Shun, no more op Ikki and no more Seiya. THE 12 GOLDEN SAINTS ARE HERE.
Apparently not everyone liked the change or maybe not everyone liked the execution but for me it felt so good to observe these characters some of which before this i disliked a lot : specifically deathmask and aphrodite, but those guys had so much interesting and good development yes it might not be very original but i finally started understanding those characters and made me feel emotions towards their sorrows and pain.
The show is also full with fan service, who cares about almost naked people i want dat sweet really cool looking golden armor with wings which is now not only limited to sagitarius like before EVERYONE GETS WINGS. Honestly, maybe because i am a bit childish even though I am actually 18 but some parts made me squeek like a young girl they were hype they looked cool, they felt cool and made my inner cosmo burn and made me glow golden from all the heat and sweat.
I actually don't have much to say besides that, they just used some really cool potential characters with not enough screentime besides maybe the chapter with sanctuary and that is about it. some get a new backstory, some find a love interest, some try to find a deeper meaning about the reason of their new life in Asgard, and some just want to have a good old fight. But personally seeing all these interactions between different personalities that change and grow over time made me really appreciate the golden saints.
Overall i really enjoyed this side series and my only complaint is that it was 2 short and would have liked to see more interactions between the golden saints, if i was to give it a mark i would probably say a 9/10 just because it gives off that saint seiya vibe, and i guess if you really try to be critical you can add all the downsides that the typical saint seiya formula has and this can go as low as a 7 but honestly i would be really surprised if you are here without actually being a saint seiya fan
