I'd say one of the best series of watched, ever and for the entire summer. A wonderful combination of music, comedy, topped off with a lovely bit of romance. Its an excellent rendition of classical music made for the modern era to enjoy.
Character, art and story are each crafted exceptionally. A bit slideshowish during the musical performances, which i usually look down upon, but it helped me enjoy the music with out the distraction of flashy animation. The hand-drawn, painted art and overall art did a wonderful job of expressing different emotions and details. And of course the two main
...
characters are so easily lovable. The contrast between the Nodame and Chiaki is humorous yet beautiful.
It's not often you come across such a wonderful story filled with growth, humour drama, and so many more elements all wonderfully blended together.
A perfect must watch series for anyone! 10/10

Essentially it is a recap of the original Genesis Evangelion which aired in Japan back in ’95. Though I haven’t watched the original series, this movie does a good job clearly telling its story and developing each character sufficiently.
With the latest graphics and CGI the animation and fight scenes excellent, and at moments just take your breath away – that is if you’re watching the movie with high quality. The amount of detail integrated in the foreground, mecha, and characters (not just the main characters) are tremendous. The sound does an effective job of enhancing each theme provoked
...
by the series.
The characters, though a bit underdeveloped, are far from cliché and go through many self-conflicts as well as the obvious angels. Regarding the underdeveloped characters, this is okay, because there are three more movies to build and develop each character. You are (not) Alone serves as an introduction, but beyond that focuses on essential theme of loneliness.
Yes, loneliness, the world in You are (not) Alone is nearly lifeless in comparison to our present world, which has not undergone a Armageddon during the human era. Society is alone, but not alone, as there are far distant societies. Shinji the main character, suffers depression and feels worthless to his father. With these conditions we watch as he grows and for anyone that has ever battled the feeling a loneliness and/or worthlessness, then like me, you will greatly understand and appreciate Shinji the main character. Ayanami , another main character is slightly mysterious, but it is obvious we will learn more about her in the coming movies.
The story itself is quite simple, they are battling to stay alive, but it goes beyond this simple plot, into the lives of each and every character –what drives them to keep surviving, keep living and what has created who they are right now. It also explores futuristic features of society and often introduces confusingly psychological ideas – which are poorly developed and/or explained. This would be the one major flaw throught the Evangelion series, but at the same token it makes it somewhat of a mystery anime as well.
Overall: Excellent, definitely worth
watching. Amazing Graphics and sound. A storyline and characters with depth that leaves a different impression upon a vast array of viewers.
Weakness: Underdevoloped and/or poorly explained psychological concepts, or plot holes which are never addressed, may leave viewer confused.
Subtitles/Dub: Dub isn’t bad, but defiantly prefer subtitles.

A few days ago I witnessed the animation called Clannad, an epic story that focuses around the progression of a boy that who suffers from depression and a girl who never loses hope. It is a “good slice of life” movie that centralizes around the themes of strong friendship and family.
One major weakness is the underdevelopment of the climax and ending. They reach the climax and then proceed to give and show no detail, but rather rush towards the ending. I’m not going to give any spoilers, but the ending, though great in depth
...
should have been more developed.
I have not watched Clannad the television series, and I am currently watching the after story, but as far as I can tell the after story developes Nagisa and Tomoya in a much better fashion as well as the other characters. Speaking of Nagisa, her character lacks depth as you only see the cheerful side to her, never sadness or grief. Thus the strong point is obviously Tomoya, as you witness the ups and down and growing strength. From this I will say that you should watch Clannad the television series rather than the movie.
I liked the movie and would say that its strong point is the development of Tomoya and its weak points are the story and the development of most feminine characters including Nagisa.

[Longest Review I've ever written - as originally posted on AnimeNfo.com - warning minor spoilers] -via Kyzoryn
When I stumbled upon Hikago I was shocked to see its rank as Seven here at Anime Nfo. A series soley revolving around the world of Go and not simply a theme for a plot centralized elsewhere. Though a drama at heart Hikaru no Go is a an anime that goes beyond the experience of enjoyment, it has affected me personally and the world of Go, nearly tripling the number of active players worldwide. It is a series that will remain a classic in the realm of anime as
...
one of the greats.
Now, though I have given much praise to Hikago, it is not flawless. With that being said, its main weakness is episodes 65-70 (fillers), plot holes, and a weakness in the core of the plot. Given the plot solely relies on Go, if you don’t take the slightest interest in Go within the first five episodes you might as well cease watching the remaining 70 episodes; however, even if you take the slightest interest, it will hook you till the very end. As for the plot holes, Hikago builds such a vast array of characters it is impossible to give each group of characters the air time that they are worthy of, this alone causes close friends of Hikaru to simply disappear for nearly 20-30 episodes and then reappear out of nowhere. However, each meeting and interactions with each group of friends serves a vital role in progressing the development of Hikaru in strength and character – afterall growing up is a gigantic theme in hikaru no Go. The greatest weakness and what prevents Hikago from being a masterpiece as a whole, is a critically horrible filler between epison 60ish to 70. Here the series deviates from the manga in attempts to give Fujiwara no Sai a final good bye, even though he never truly leaves as anyone who has watched knows.
Despite the filler, I still place Hikaru no Go in my top five greatest anime of all time. It builds on a young boy who starts as a regular brat that talks in slang and has no respect for elders or anyone else around for that matter. But as the series continues he depends on Sai as a mentor, best friend and a third parent - which he still gives little respect too ironically enough. As his interest in Go increases he becomes set on passing Akira Touya. This serves as a crucial catapult into his dedication to the path toward Kami no Ittoue or the Hand of God (It is every Go players dream to play this hand). As he faces many opponents he also grows as a person, learning to overcome his weakness. Towards the end, though he still harbors that bold and rash disrespectfulness, he becomes more polite, calm, and focused. But above this incredibly astounding growth, what shocks me most is the way he grows – it is so natural I didn’t realize he had grown taller and older until the first flashbacks Sai had and then the very end. Stunned, I gained a new respect for the author Yumi Hotta – no one could have carved out a better character who portrays such growth and development than her.
The fact that the author who wrote Hikaru no Go was a girl did not surprise at the least. In fact it made sense, seeing how feminine like many of the characters were drawn, for example Sai and Akira, but beyond the style in which they were drawn, the story its self was a typical “slice of life” type drama – and she couldn’t have done a better job. Each match was pieced together in such a way that the viewer could actually feel the intensity and tension between two players, if not actually understand the game of Go itself! The highs and lows intertwined and spiraling upwards in perfect combination that the ending is very symbolic and worthy of great praise, especially the moment Sai left Hikaru – this pivotal moment changed Hikaru as a person and tripled his dedication to Go. She does a great job of riding this tremendous wave to the very end when Sai hands his fan to Hikaru. As a whole, Hikago has a bit of everything, you may laugh at the brat in Hikaru, or cry at the loss of sai, or cheer him on against a tough opponent – it’s a good “slice of life.”
Beyond the 75 videos I watched over the internet, pulling two all-nighters, Hikaru no Go didn’t simply capture my heart and love for anime, it changed me as person. I now have learned to play go and play on KGS online (Kyzoryn). And if I weren’t as senior in highschool, I would have started a Go club. In the future I plan on joining a local club sponsored by the American Go Association – who knows how good I’ll become. Hikaru no Go has also left me interested in learning more about the culture and language of Japan. It has open many doors than just one and has changed the world of Go, inspiring much of the worlds youth into playing Go. Raising respect for go, this series has brought back an ancient board game to the future of many of our worlds youth and for those of you who have read the manga has “linked the far past, with the far future.”
Overall, I simply love Hikaru no Go, from the opening song, to the credits of the last episode. I have no complaints about the music, special effects, and opening and endings. There are moments when I couldn’t stop laughing and there are moments when I nearly cried. They all contributed to the series in such an astounding way. For those who appreciate anime and understand the meaning of each and every GOOD series (forget the bad ones), then you will surely love Hikago just as much as I do, but I do warn you, you must atleast take a slight liking in Go, when you do, you’ll fall in love with Hikago. If you haven’t watch it – you must! I hope my review did not give to many spoilers away and most of all I hope you enjoyed it! This is what I do when I’m not watching :)

Baka to Test no Shokanju is hilarious and shall we say a refined and a step up from the failure known as Great Teacher Onizuka. Both were based around a school; however, Shokanju focused on the students an incorporated perverted and idiotic jokes there. Its a show where the main character is so stupid and obliviious its hilarious.
The story is based around a school system comparable to no other - it is equivalent to a social heirarchy and survival of the fittest. The smartest are place in "Class A" while the dumbest are place in "Class F." Each class
...
can challeng another class in a match called ESB, where they summon beings. The beings are miniature replicas of the summoner and its powers are based on the students most recent test scores.
The underlying storyline is based upon the characters and their growth, relationships, and crushes on each other and how they interact. This is where it is hilariously funny as the characters incorporate perverted jokes, stupidity, and simple naivete. Each character playing a specific role with in this array of comedy.
The animation is a high strong point of Baka to test no Shokanju. There are hand drawn sketches and several unique pattern based graphics that give the animation an originality. The animation greatly supports each mood with an unyeilding intesity.
The sound effects inlcuding the music are all standard.
Overall this 13 episode series is for anyone who loves comedy and anime. If perveted jokes and stupidity don't bother you than its a must watch. I will warn you it does have action, but if thats all your looking for then this is not for you. I loved it!

[Edited for spoilers] Original Review can be found on Animenfo.com -via Kyzoryn
Death Note is a variance of Code Geass. With that being said, Death Note depicts a story without fighting, blood-shed and physical super powers that many anime are built upon; instead it focuses upon the psychological aspects through a battle of two geniuses, Light Yagami the protagonist and L the antagonist.
The beauty of the storyline is not the good vs. bad (which is actually a grey area) is the fork between L and Light which forces viewers to fall in love with either of the two, but not both. The constant challenges, betrayal, and
...
cold manipulation are what make the story so exciting. It’s not who is tougher, but who is smarter, riskier, and who will win this battle of wits – its like a chess game, but add drama, death, betrayal and love. The weakness of the storyline is the double ending, has justice prevailed or failed? Who is right L? Or Light? And who is to decide?
Another strength is the quality of the each and every character as well as the dialogue associated with them. Lights transformation not only defines his character, but those around him as well. L’s odd but lovable antics and habits allow viewers to fall in love with this character. Each character has its place and purpose, the dialogue moving and meaningful, there is a second wasted on fillers or filler-like characters.
Overall, Death Note is a suspenseful, mind-blowing anime that if you haven’t watched yet, you must watch. It makes a place of its own independent as Death Note explores the psychological world of this battle of wits; it is truly one of a kind. It’s not every day that you come across such a masterpiece.

[Note: Assumed that readers are familiar with First Season]
Code Geass R2 is a continuation of Code Geass and a step up from Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist - with improvements in characters and one of the best endings of all time - though some may consider it cliche it is quite moving and is the defining moment of Lelouch and the show itself.
The array of plot twists from the betrayal of Lelouch's sister to his ultimate rise to power, the power struggle between him and his brother and the killer conclusion - It is all you could ask for. The ending sums up the entire
...
story and utilizes one of the greatest aspects of life - sacrafice.
There is a love hate relationship between all the characters, but perhaps the most controversial character is Lelouch lays the foundation for his exit from the center of the world. Unlike many stories with perfect predictable endings - R2 shakes it up and throws a dagger at you heart. The constant ups and downs is a great aspect that adds depth to Lelouch's persona.
The animation is phenomenal. Especially C.C's flashbacks. The fight scenes were flawless, the camera angles and panoramas takes the animation to another level.
Overall, if you havent watch it, then it is something you need to do. If your a fullmetal alchemist, death note, or even Gundam fan you'll absolutely fall in love with Code Geass. However do remember this is the second season.

I personally love Code Geass it has an amazing storyline and great animation to add another level of to the depth of the character and story; the characters exemplify many motifs of hate, utopian idealism, and love, and as a whole introduces a twisted approach to create peace within this world. Code Geass as many say, is a variation of Death Note, but holds its own, especially in originality.
The storyline is the Code Geass' strongest point, an array of goals with both good and bad intentions. What truly makes it great is the lack of good side and bad side, as there are good principles
...
on each.
The characters are not flawless, but they are strong, characterizing human nature and its flaws and strengths as well as the desire to do good. The evolution and deterioration of friendship as well as the personal goals drives each character to change and grow.
The animation of Lelouch and the robots is exceptional. The hand movement and facial expressions by Lelouch bring out the depth of his character as harsh cold yet in love with this world.
Now it has been awhile since i last watched Code Geass (watched twice) but as i can recall the music did not detract from any part of Code Geass.
One of my favorite animes I highly recommend this somewhat mind blowing anime that contains a lot of originality. It is definitely worth watching and is the closest anime to masterpiece, which I am still hunting for!

I have mixed feelings for this anime. Dragon Ball Z was the first anime i watched growing up as a child and I loved it, but re-watching it was a dissappointment. However! I will say this I highly respect Dragon Ball Z for it was the gateway for Anime for viewers not only in America, but the world.
The plot is self-contradicting, repetive and extremely lengthy. There are many episodes where it is simply a stare down and many of the fights are lengthy and lack depth. However there is thrill when the enemy is knocked out.
Goku's voice in English is actually more enjoyable than
...
the original - which is highly dissappointing. The rest of the cast changes and grows, but overall lacks depth. However the brotherly love that united Goku and Vegeta is something extraordinary and adds much depth to the anime. Each character relates to each other and actually forms a sort of family which creates depth to each and every character. They each build upon each other striving to become stronger than the other - a sort of healthy competition.
The animition given the date was standard and at times impressive as well as the OD and ED.
Overall I will never forget Dragon Ball Z it has brought anime to America and is renknown around the world and I have high respect for Dragon Ball Z as many of the mangaka authors of Naruto, One Piece and Bleach found there inspiration reading Dragon Ball manga.

Scrapped Princess is comparable to picture book, nothing thrilling or mind boggling, but a pleasant series to relax and watch without all the hype and suspense, but still manages to be interesting and enjoyable
Scrapped Princess is a light anime with a simple plot - a princess who is prophesized to destroy the world fights for survival, with her step brother and sister to protect her. The simplicity of the plot creates a lack of depth within the characters. Despite, the simplicity of the plot there are no fillers and the ending is strong and succinct.
However, the anime has some sweet, funny, and frustrating parts.
...
Despite harsh reviews the cast does grow as they face there weaknesses and overcome them.
The graphics are standard and do not detract from the story. The special effects are perhaps the highlight of the animation. The sound is standard and nothing remarkable, but again does not detract from the story.
Overall, Scrapped Princess is anime to watch if you are looking for something relaxing and funny as there is nothing critical or suspenseful. I highly enjoyed this anime and give it an [8]
