Relaxation, the key emotional products from any good slice-of-life anime and the range of this malleable mood is hard to target for some critics. Personally, I need to feel some particular pleasure to be sincerely relaxed enough to say an anime has done delivered on its promise to be a worthy slice to recommend and rewatch with my friends. The main requirements always centers on the MC and usually his progress with not only his journey but how he maintains the mood for me the viewer by his character growth, affable attitude and intrinsic interaction with the cast.
Let me reassure our ever unflappable Sir
...
Flio is a dependable dude that smoothly sails the show's progress with his genuine kind nature, humble attitude and admirable approach to his lovely lupine lady Fenrys or Rys for short. Indeed, a common complaint in most romance elements in anime is the typical tepid MC who flails around like a kite in a hurricane when his love interest approaches or worse, the pompous jerk that persistently attacks any chance of romantic progress with his ideal mate.
Thankfully, this show slides pasts those tired tropes and gives us an appealing couple whose love is promised and then slowly delivered with an actual believable, satisfying and mature union. When it comes to waifu quality it surely helps what type of -dere you prefer and while I'm open to various flavors, the deredere, like our lovely Rys, is my favorite. And it rare for a show to have an intelligent MC that doesn't waste this golden chance and actually allows the romance to blossom naturally. And besides being my fave Powerpuff girl, Blossom, along with Balirossa, Belano and Byleri all are fine additions to Flio's harem, er I mean (seriously) his home and provide fine filler to the basic plot.
Of course the best side characters are the supernatural figures who are very memorable for the greater importance to the plot and its overriding message of acceptance, forgiveness and equality of all people. Also, they provide the highest degree of sensual pleasure for my every hungry urges. The ever loyal crimson cat demon- Uliminas, the devious djinn- Hiya and the wild witch Damalynas are all glistening figures that add that much welcomed spicy flavor that brings much pleasure to my personal requirements. And of course, lest not I forget, Tsuya, whose upper frontals defy gravity and leave me grinning ear to ear each time she appears.
Nevertheless, the prime reason of these slice of life shows appeal is the level of peace and harmony the MC can negotiate and advance in spite of al the challenges in his way. Now, being omnipotent MC is a frequent issue for these type of Isekai shows but it works by not relying on showing Flio's power but hearing his rational and compassionate voice that speaks relatable truths and cool understanding. As Rys learns early on, its her darling's weakness that appeals to her the most as nothing is more powerful than the opponent who shows mercy instead of malice and seeks cooperation instead of conflict. Although, I must admit that there is one excellent fight scene in episode 6 that reminds us of how awesome and somewhat terrifying Sir Flio can be when he lets loose.
Overall, the progress of the show is benefited by the easy going nature of the cast all voiced by veterans who give the right sound to illuminate the comedic/ mellow tone. Both sub and dub versions are excellent thanks to the couple of legends on the sub side- Rie Kugimiya (Rys) & Satoshi Hino (Flio) working well again as they done this partnership splendidly again and again. While, the dub version-Megan Shipman & Mauricio Ortiz-Segura actually was surprising good as Mr. Ortiz-Segura definitely has the presence and steadiness to voice Flio's calm nature and Megan Shipman is always a delight to here voice a deredere. Also, much oblige to Gholl's dub voice Ray Hurd whose husky tone was almost so cool I do believe Hell has freezer over when he left his throne to come live with the gang.
And the review could not end without me giving a sly assessment of the adorable OP song-Dannasama to no Love Love Love Song sung by the legend herself- Rie Kugimiya. Indeed, we all wish we could be Kugimiya-chan's dannasama (darling) after watching this OP, the lyrics are very catchy and Kugimiya's voice will linger in your mind as does this show that meets all my requirements for a legit pleasurable experience.
