I usually do not leave negative reviews, but recently I have found them very useful when deciding whether to pick up new stories as we are in the era where there is a LOT of good stories, but not all are for everyone.
So as a result, this review is not challenging the objective consensus that this is a great shounen, but rather providing you an insight if you are the kind of person that will probably not resonate well with this particular shounen.
In its core JJK is a classical shounen however on the darker side. The issues that made this shounen not resonate with
...
me were the following:
1. Action, action, more action - I have nothing against a good fight, but JJK truly loves to live in action anf constant fights. At times it feels like a John Wick movie - I hate John Wick. If you are a type of person who can t be bothered with constant fighting with minimal dialogue - that this is something to consider, coz unlike clasiccal shounen that usully prolongs fight via dialogie, JJK prolongs fights via choreography.
2. The world - I have talked to multiple JJK fans and most can t even fully explain the world of JJK after watching 2 seasons, if that bothers you in your shounen this may not be IT for you, coz the JJK world is one of the more complicated shounen worlds out there so you will eaither gotta lock in, or live with the fact you dont get it.
3. Dark - for most a benefit for some a negative. For me I treat shounen like my weekends - i want them to be chill, fun and fill me with motivation to wake up on Monday. JJK aint gonna do that, if anything it will make your Monday alarm sound evne more depresing.
4. Lack of meaningful message - You could say JJK has some messages, but since the MC does such a poor job even being present it rarely hits. You could define the message as - "dont die with regrets", which one could argue Itadori truly should have just died episode 1 and would have less regrets than he will probably have in the last chapter - but hey the story is ongoing so on this line it may get better.
All in all if at least 3/4 of these resonated with you, you probably should not read this. If 0-1 resonated with you I d say it very safe to say you should give it a try.

Very underrated shounen manga with sci-fi elements.
So now you may be asking yourself what is this story? Well shortly put, it is about Alien Immigration...yup, I aint joking. The main idea of the story is centered around the idea that aliens are already visiting our planet, but ..with visa. And ofc illegal immigration happens even in our favorite mangas so an organization called AMO takes care of these illegal "immigrants" ranging from kids who decided to "run away from home", aliens who just decided to "get a pretty wife coz earthlings are HOT" to actual serial killers, smugglers and planetary weapons. All while
...
we get to know our main cast who is not less strange than the story, you may ask yourself - are THEY even human? And ...my answer would be - read on. The main cast has some mysteries around them, very dubious morals and a Gojou of their own.
What hurt this story and put it intot he rating it is sitting at now is most probably a very slow start and quite slow releases.
I could probably summarize volume 1 in 3 sentences and it would be excessive. However, just like the sales also indicare volume 3 and on the show really finds its footing and becomes a sci-fi show with some mystery aspects regarding our main characters, with some comedy sprinked in. So all in all I would recommend everyone who is missing a bit of quirkiness in their life to give this one a go, coz it is the most unique shounen I have read in a WHILE.

We are in for a RIDE!
Probably the best season is in front of us, and all the build up for all these years got us here.
If you made it here I d assume you either already love the show and will enjoy it, or are a masochist, in which case you will probably also enjoy it.
The people who write negative reviews after sitting through 6 seasons, just did not realize their kink yet...coz aint no way anybody sits through 6 seasons of something they do not enjoy, which by the way is 2700+ minutes. IF you invest this much time into anything out of
...
your own will, you love it - accept it!
So to all who are here, this season is exactly what you have been signing up for - for years, ENJOY!

Is it the most complex story ever written? No.
Will you still enjoy it if you like more lighthearted shounen stories? Yes.
It is a fun shounen, with a unique world setting and a bit of comedy.
If you like the genre, and are not in the mood for anything depressing, then I d say this is one of the better shounen options out there.
So all in all for me - as somebody who has been reading/watching shounen for over 10 years - I d still give this manga a solid 8/10.
It is not for those who crave bloodshed and a more complicated plot, but rather for
...
those who yearn for a fun action shounen with interesting characters that go through some character development along the show.
Also Black Star is basically free therapy, which already by itself is a bonus point.
For those who d like a comparison, while I dont love doing this, I know it helps me personally a lot when people do this so: I d say it is probably closest to Black Clover(not finished at the time I am writing this review), just a tad bit darker.

Season 6 is amazing and for me the peak of this show.
However, I think a lot of people who think about starting/continuing this series wanna mainly know - is it worth the 5 seasons journey?
I d say yes and no.
If you like shounen I d always recommend watching the 1st season, if you like 1st season I d say - watch it all .
Yes s04-05 have some very slow episodes, but if you push through it or ..rewind through it (especially 1st half of s05, second half is important tho) both seasons still have great episodes and lore that is important to
...
s06 and the rest of story.
IF you didnt really enjoy s01 - then nope.
S01 very well provides the synopsys of what this show is gonna be - it is not your typical - we only care for 1-3 main characters and focus on them. No, the whole idea of the show doesnt allow us to focus on the journey of the main protagonist only, but rather hero society as a whole. This show at its heart shows the imperfections of heroes and on the other hand how sometimes good people end up at the wrong place at the wrong time and they don t ever recover.
In summary: it is one of the more ligh-hearted shounens (compared to JJK and Chainsaw Man), with a LOT of characters, and as any long-running show it has its lows and highs.

If you are doubting whether you will enjoy this show - PLEASE read this review.
Firstly, it is a small miracle I gave a chance to this show, coz I generally avoid this genre as a plague. However, corona is here and I was bored one day so I took my chances , fully prepared to toss this anime away after the 1st episode. What happened is that the show is actually interesting from episode 1 - which sadly many anime these days are not to me.
I am not gonna go into full mode of explaining what is great about this anime, as many other
...
reviews. All I am gonna say is that
- I am NOT the target audience
- this is not my genre
- and I am pretty hard to please
YET, this anime is easily a masterpiece and it will probably resonate with many people especially in our tough times, coz there is a weird bittersweet feeling in knowing manking always had it tough and usually we are the ones who make it tough for ourselves.
Give it a try, I can guarantee 9/10 ppl who will give it a chance will come back to thank me.
