The iDOLM@STER

Both are great counterparts to each other. The iDOLM@STER is mainly rooted in telling a sweet story about upcoming idols, while BECK is more focused on telling a dramatic, sometimes heart wrenching tale of the rise of a rock group. One is fluffy, one is realistic. Both are about music and very entertaining.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu

Surprisingly, no one noticed the striking similarities between both films. One can seriously say that the author of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya may have received some inspiration from Tenchi Forever. Both... +Are based in popular franchises. (Duh!) +Escapes the usual trappings of anime movies based on popular franchises. They're not the standard cash-in films. Actually providing more than just "A fun romp with our favorite characters in a largely ineffectual story!". +Are about the disappearance of a central character and how people close to them are affected by their absence. +Have a more mature and somber tone than the series it originates from. More slower paced, whilst introspective too. +Contains no real villain, but instead a cause behind the conflict. The "causer" have very sympathetic reasons behind their actions, making it hard for the viewer to hate them for it. +Dabbles in time travel/alternate dimension mythos. +Are emotionally rich, with characters that obtain depth never seen in their respective series beforehand. +Possess beautiful, high quality artwork. Disappearance has great digital animation, while Tenchi Forever has great traditional animation. +Include incredible background music. While Disappearance is more of a mystery and Tenchi Forever is more of a romance, I believe that if you liked one you WILL like the other.

Although their not similar in content, they are similar in execution and style... So basically, if Gurren Lagann was a magical girl anime, it would be Heartctach Precure! (And vise-versa.) -Both have awesome and over-the-top battle sequences. -Both have the "Determination" thing going on. -Both play their genres straight, but in a good way. -Both have simple plots that are executed very well. -Both have great characters that make you want them to persevere. -Both share crazy art styles and style of animation. -Both share very funny comedic moments. -Both have hot blooded characters in them. (Kamina and Kumojaki respectively.) -Both have heartwarming moments. -Both have emphasis on teamwork. If you liked one you may like the other, even if you hate magical girl or mecha anime they both manage to be fairly entertaining.
