Bocchi the Rock is probably my anime of the season.
Bocchi the Rock is my first Cute Girls Doing Cute Things(CGDCT) anime. I haven't watched K-On so this maybe an invalid criticism of an anime of this niche genre. Anyway, there is not too much going on in this anime. The main theme is playing music. Plot is simple, characters are archetypal but this is so enjoyable. The dynamic and interactions between Bocchi and the rest of the band is perfect. It's not so basic where it becomes too predictable and boring but also stays within the stereotypes of the genre is extremely funny, unexpected and
...
entertaining. This anime would not be the same without its eccentric cast, especially Hitori Gotoh.
Hitori Gotoh is my favorite character from the show. She is given the nickname "Bocchi" by her friends because of her unique behavior. Combining her first name and nickname, we get "Hitori Bocchi" which translates to "lonely" or "alone". She suffers social anxiety and a lack of friends. It's not so deep that she is depressed or she has insecurities or issues that hold her back and cause her anxiety, but rather she was just born that way and she is just too shy. As we watch the show, we can see she slowly overcomes her social anxiety to be able to play infront of crowd and complete her dream of becoming a rockstar. I and many others relate to her and make her such a great character.
Also the sound and animation are done well. The art style and animation fits the vibe and situation at whatever time. Some of my favorite moments would be when Bocchi's appearance changes completely to show how she trembles in social situations, absolutely hilarious. Lastly of course for an anime centered around making music, it has amazing music. The songs are all original and suit the characters. The songs are catchy and well done. Well produced and well directed.
Overall Bocchi The Rock is a good anime. No complex plots or characters, just fun. Definitely an anime to lighten up your day. Very good watch and would recommend it to anyone. With the praise this anime is receiving, it is likely a sequel will be announced. Until then, we can only wait impatiently to see out beloved set of characters.

This part of Spy X Family is a disappointment.
As a reader of the original manga and a great adaptation from the first part, I expected this part to do great. But I was quite mistaken. In the first season, the studio decided to add some actions scenes that are not in the original manga. It did not ruin the experience, rather made it better. This part also did the same but it did not work. Instead of adding and complimenting the energy and atmosphere that you get from the original manga, it deviated from it. It felt like something different or a filler episode.
...
It was not very enjoyable.
Though that wasn't true for all the episodes, the episode that did feel lackluster effected my enjoyment and rating of this part quite a bit, hence why I have mixed feelings for this review. However they did end well with the last few episodes, adapting some of the most funny and memed moments from the manga.
Overall I would say this season wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either. It still gets a pass as a decent adaptation but I recommend you read the manga for a more authentic experience. High hopes for season 2 in the near future.

I don't know what the hell this anime is or trying to do, not in a good way.
Akiba Maid War already is a very intriguing title and makes you wonder what the hell does that mean? It means exactly as the title says, a bunch of maids fight each other through gunfights and extremely competitive capitalism. This anime specifically focuses n the Pigsty Maid Cafe, a failing cafe with a lay manager and broke young adults working as maids. Also a 36 year-old woman who came out of prison carrying them in fights. This anime tries to do serious and high stakes type of situations.
...
Though the idea itself is not so bad, this anime does not do it well. Each episode is just an episode of the maids testing their luck to get through their problems.
Speaking of the maids, that's the main reason I don't like this anime. All the characters are bland, not even entertaining. They have a few moments in the show but they don't have a consistent theme or interesting/entertaining aspect in their character. It feels like there is no main cast of characters, all of them feel like side characters. They always do some wacky shenanigan to keep their cafe afloat and always do the same situation of getting carried by Ranko and try to get lucky. They are simply not fun.
I had some expectation of enjoying this anime one way or another but I was mistaken. If you're like me, a person who has other things to do in life, don't watch this anime. If you have time or simply don't care about your responsibilities, go ahead. There were a lot of ways for this anime to work but they completely failed.

Mob Psycho 100 is one of the most fun things I have ever watched in my life.
There are many good things about Mob Psycho. Its comedy, the action, the animation, the sound but I would say the best thing about Mob Psycho is its atmosphere and vibe. The characters aren't exactly great, the story isn't very complicated but I and many others find Mob Psycho to be much more entertaining than other animes that take themselves very seriously and that's the magic of Mob Psycho 100. It feels natural and fun. It doesn't try to be something profound or any astounding masterpiece, it simply presents
...
itself in its own unique way that connects to us, viewers.
Another thing about Mob Psycho 100 is that it is especially unique because of its themes. Though the main character, Mob has psychic powers and fights different enemies, the show isn't about getting stronger. Rather it is about becoming a better person. From season one and two, Mob defeated antagonists who believed they were superior to all humans because of their powers, unlike Mob. That is the point about Mob Psycho 100. Mob does not undergo special training but he undergoes challenges that test his character. Just because you are strong, it doesn't mean you get to rule the world or you're better than others.
But this season's theme surprised me quite a bit. In the preceding seasons, Mob has always helped others and tried his best to be nice to them. This season we can see that Mob is always accompanied by his friends and they always support him. Mob has been rewarded for his kindness and has become the receiver. And that compliments that main theme of this season, Mob trying to find himself. The main antagonist of this season is not another enemy but rather it is Mob himself. This season, Mob has struggled to overcome his own powers that he has feared of using for years. This caused a lot of pent up emotions inside of him which erupt violently at towards the end of the show. But overcame those struggles with the help of his first two friends, Dimple and Reigen.
In all honesty, I did not expect myself to like this as much as I did. I am not a fan of stuff that isn't particularly meaningful or full of action or comedy because a lot of the time those are covers for how bad a show is. But Mob Psycho really surprised me. I do think there should have been more build up for the ending but still very satisfying.
Thank you for reading and have a Happy New Year!

(Spoilers Ahead)
A Silent Voice is not a romance film. It is a film about loving yourself.
I would say A Silent Voice can be divided into two parts. In the start, 6th grader Ishida bully Shoko, a deaf girl in his class. As a result of Ishida's bullying for no apparent reason other than making fun of a deaf person, everyone hates him. Ishida then starts to hate himself because he feels guilty and feels like he has no right to friends, happiness and living. Ishida had it coming, no question. This part teaches us that we should be kind to others. Ishida also didn't get
...
suspended or anything and Shoko transfers to another school.
Second part, we see Ishida is now in highschool and seems to be nicer and softer. But he is still suicidal and hates himself for what he did. He tries to kill himself and right before he does it, he decides otherwise. Next he makes one new friend, Nagatsuka, who doesn't really have any development or much importance to the film. They then go to meet Shoko and try to friend s with her again and make things right. She accepts to be their friend. More unimportant side characters get introduced and they have fun and hang out. But the worst out of all the side characters was Ueno. Ueno is like Ishida and bullied Shoko also. But Ueno is still an asshole to Shoko and doesn't really get a proper redemption arc like Ishida did. This drama destroys the friend group with the side characters, especially Ishida's relationships for the mean time and make Shoko feel like its her fault. Also Shoko tried to confess to Ishida but she tried to speak which resulted in the confession not getting through to Ishida.
Ishida and Shoko remain friends but Shoko still feels guilty. Because Shoko thinks she ruined Ishida's life, Shoko tries to jump off her apartment building but Ishida saves her however making him fall instead. Ishida is hospitalized and later survives. Shoko and Ishida talk and they just want to be friends with each other. The other side characters also forgive Ishida and they become friends again. Also Ishida is now famous because he was on the news. Now Ishida feels good about himself and his deed. He feels like he has atoned for what he had done and feels like everyone isn't against him anymore.
There are a quite a few lacking parts in A Silent Voice, especially the side characters. But the themes and lessons discussed are impactful. Millennials and Gen Z especially suffer self-hatred and lack of self confidence. Yes, we should be kind to others, that has been talked about for a quite a long time but you should not forget to love yourself. We make mistakes and sometimes we feel down, but we can always do better and learn from mistakes. There is always a way out. There is always hope. We should always care for ourselves so that we can care for others. All in all, A Silent Voice is a great film for anyone and can make for a good cry.

This review is for the entire Quintessential Quintuplets series and not only the movie.(Also spoiler free)
Quintessential Quintuplets is for casual enjoyers, nothing special. If you seek for something profound and amazing, don't bother.
The first season was pretty bad, not as bad as other harems. MC is not innocent or a wimp, but is rather smart and serious. Fanservice is not so completely stupid and the girls don't automatically fall in love. But then again, this is a harem and later they did in a somewhat realistic way. Nothing too special.
Second season was actually quite fun. There are some really good moments. Moments that
...
are romantic and lovely. Maybe not super realistic but not so ridiculous that you feel like a shut-in and make you feel a little emotion. These moments are worth your time and carry the entire show.
Lastly, the movie. This is really cutting corners. It would have been a lot better if they were to make another season or two before the movie. It felt very rushed and is obvious they skipped quite a bit from the source material. But it worked it somewhat because there was almost no fanservice in the movie. The only fanservice that appeared was the one minute beach scene at the beginning with almost no dialogue. The movie was quite focused on the romance and relationship aspect. That in opinion was very good but the pacing really brings this down. Everything feels sudden or developed too quickly. Besides that, the movie was fun. It had some good moments, all the girls had their time to shine and had a good conclusion.
Overall, QQ is alright but quite fun. It's simple and casual. Nothing special but definitely better than other harems. The best part is of course rooting for your girl of choice. There is not a lot to say about QQ but it was good watch considering it was a harem.

(Repost because MAL marked my first post as preliminary)
Kaguya-sama: Love is War is a Romance and Comedy Masterpiece.
Love is War starts off with a unique premise but not a lot to expect. An emo, a loli, a cutesy and big breasted girl and a nerd compose the student council of the most prestigious school in Japan. With not much context at the start, the president(nerd) and vice-president(loli) try to get each other to confess through a game of psychology and tactics because both of them are too shy to do it themselves. Along with the other members of the student council and some side characters,
...
it creates a funny and creative atmosphere and vibe that makes watching/reading Love is War very entertaining. But at the end of the day, its just a RomCom, or so what I thought.
Comedy is subjective and not everyone will find what some think is funny but jokes get overused quite quickly. Most comedies, whether it is western or an anime suffer this problem. Love is War is built different. Love is War continuously thinks of new jokes or new ways of how to be funny. The comedy is never cringey. It has the perfect amount of stupid yet is also witty. It even reuses old jokes in way that it is still funny. And it maintains this all throughout the publication of the manga. I have never watched/read any comedy that was this consistent in terms of its comedy.
Another great thing about Love is War is that the story and characters are actually very good, especially for a RomCom. All the characters that get introduced have depth and develop. A prime example would be Ishigami(the emo). I intend to make this spoiler free so just find out yourself. The characters unfold themselves and reveal that they aren't joke dispensers but are human and imperfect. Expectations, inequality, friendship, perseverance; These are only some of the themes tied with the characters. They learn and experience the high school life and the lessons that come with it. They are relatable and realistic. These factors make Love is War unexpectedly dramatic and emotional.
Probably the biggest surprise about Love is War is how good the art is sometimes. As the series progresses, you can see how the art improves. The art sings along with the characters and amplifies what is felt by the character and by the reader. Whether those feelings may only be funny and whimsical or sad and regretful. But for whatever situation it may be, the art is always appropriate. The art most of the time is relatively normal with wacky bits here and there. But when the time comes, a one page artistic masterpiece greets you. Absolutely worth it for you to screenshot these panels.
Lastly, Love is War has good love. A problem with RomCom anime/manga is that it has ridiculous romance, especially the harem ones. Love is War on the other hand, has especially good romance without even considering the ridiculous premise in the introduction. From a stupid game of trying to make the other confess, it came to a point of understanding and accepting one another. The romance is real. Along with the characters, the reading experience feels real. It doesn't feel ridiculous or unrealistic to happen in a real relationship, even if one is not particularly an expert in such. Makes one really want a partner.
With everything said, Love is War without a doubt in my mind, is a Masterpiece. A classic of romance and comedy to be remembered for years to come. A must read for anyone, even if they aren't a fan of the genre. I am glad to have witnessed this masterpiece while it was still publishing. I have learned a lot and felt many emotions too from this manga. I am sad to see this manga end. Reading this was a journey in out of itself. Truly an incredible experience.

This anime is a mess. The title is absolutely degenerative and give the anime community a bad rep. These kind of animes only get attention because of how ridiculous and shitty it is. However to my surprise, this anime was oddly entertaining.
Story, Characters: 5 ; Art and Sound:6
This story is as generic as it gets. Probably the most tropey shit I've seen in a while. It has everything you expect. Lewd circumstances, weird coincidences, bad jokes, all the female characters have big boobs, an introverted male lead and forbidden love. MSDIME is not special, it doesn't even try to.
Enjoyment: 7.5
Despite all the shit I threw
...
at the anime, it is still so damn entertaining. I can't pinpoint what exactly made my watching experience so enjoyable. Was it the because MSDIME embraced its degenerateness? Maybe it was because it is actually well written? I have no clue. Towards the end though, the episodes became somewhat serious and lost some of its charm. But besides that, I laughed at pretty much every episode.

I recommend reading what I think about the MEANING of the story which a lot of people didn't seem to understand. I will include that in the story section of my review.
5 Centimeters Per Second is a fairly well-known anime movie done by the famous Japanese director Makoto Shinkai. Though most of his works are relatively old, his most famous works are actually his newest movies, namely Your Name and Weathering With You. I've been rewatching some movies lately and Your Name was one of them. I thought to myself it was very overrated. Due to this reaction, I thought I would rewatch all the
...
Shinkai films I've seen and give them a new rating. I randomly chose a movie to rewatch and today it was 5 centimeters per second. I don't remember much from this movie, which means I didn't really enjoy the movie when I watched it for the first time. But my opinion changed after rewatching.
Story: 9
The story begins relatively normal with two young adolescents who slowly fall in love with each other as they spend more time together and how they slowly drift apart. I won't get too deep into the story but the main attraction for this story is its MESSAGE.
This movie was divided into three parts so lets dissect the important parts. In the first part we see Tohno and Akari transfer to different middle schools and later reunite with each other to confirm their love. Remember that this movie was set in a time where they didn't have flip-phones yet. After this, Tohno has to transfer to an even farther school due to his parents work.
In the second part, we follow Sumida who falls in love with Tohno and later on she is rejected. So far, its relatively generic but portrayed with beautiful emotions of love and sadness. Into the third part, we see that Tohno is working in Tokyo and is still separated from Akari. Tohno at this point is drowned in depression. Then we switch to follow Akari's perspective where we find out she's already engaged with another man. This is the part where people think this movie is shit.
Now to explain the very important part. In the last scene, Tohno and Akari pass by each other and subtly, Tohno notices the ring on her hand. Tohno smiles and is happy. Then we have the signature train metaphor from Shinkai, Akari and Tohno look back at each other but a moving train passes by. Tohno turns back and waits if Akari will too. When the train had finally past, Akari had already walked away. But he knew she was happy, that's why he didn't follow her and moved on
Here's the part you've waiting for, the MESSAGE. The meaning of this movie is to move on. This lesson also took time for me to process. If you don't move forward, you will suffer. Feelings change and that's okay. You have to deal with the present and let go of the past. Real life doesn't always have good endings. You shouldn't get consumed by the feelings of love and despair. But whatever happens, you must MOVE ON.
I think I've written enough but I'll just give my scores for other criteria.

This was the first anime movie I watched that wasn't a Ghibli or kids movie. I watched this when I was in the unripe age of 12, the peak of my edginess and weirdness. I watched this at the end of the school year with some classmates on their laptop, though not from the beginning, but early enough that I understand the plot. That was about 4 years ago. After a full rewatch, I felt like writing a review
Story: 6
The story may be a bit confusing but quite simple in big picture. You can guess where the movie will go, but its still very enjoyable.
...
one thing I will say about the story of this movie is that it is lacking in depth and paced too quickly. The romance between the two main leads seemed lacking and was basically plot service. Other plot points weren't discussed as much and things either developed too quickly or didn't develop enough.
Animation: 10
This movie has one of, if not the most beautiful animation of all time. From the lighting, movement and details in each frame, it made me pause the movie once in a while to truly admire the production. This was big factor to my enjoyment and feel from the movie.
Sound: 9
The music done in this film was done by a rock band, which seems quite weird for a romance movie but works very well. The music brings a sense of teenage rebellion, foolishness and youth. It really reminds you that these are just teenagers in their youth and that they are only following their heart.
Characters: 6
I really felt that the characters were very likeable however lacking in their motives, personality and emotions. Even though if you can understand why these things are done by the characters, it feels like we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. They didn't develop enough and personally I didn't feel attached to them.
Enjoyment: 9
Despite the film's objective flaws, I had a lot fun watching it, there's a lot to like about this film. Diverging and converging paths and destinies with people is something I hear a lot from older folk and something I have learned from. It tells a great importance to our past and memories. At the time of writing this, I am only 16. But I am sure there is a lot out there, both experiences and people
Overall: 7.5
Despite all my praises, this movie ain't that good. Very overrated in my honest opinion. I think the Garden of Words and 5 Centimeters per Second were the better works of Shinkai. That being said, I think you should lay back and not overanalyze things to enjoy this movie.
