Back then, I truly enjoyed some of the battle/fight scenes but now I realized that I always felt disgusted by the promiscuous lolicon relationship the protagonist had with the lolis, comes a bit of a fan-service as well since it's a harem. It is said the author has moved on from this anime, the apocalyptic fast-pace and having mutated children be the frontier of their battles was a unique concept on it's own but overall, this was poorly executed but hey I can't write and draw like the author does so who am I to criticize. Either way, this show had potential but if you're ... looking for something to watch to kill time, there are a lot more fun things to do than watching this.

Looking back, I totally get why this was badly received. Lacks a true endpoint, climax barely made any sense, a barrage of plotholes, everybody dies so basically everyone lacks any character development and then they've already died before they even made a mark in the series. However, this has still been a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, I admire the cheesy battles and I see what they are trying to accomplish with those imperial weapon "head-to-heads" (sorry Chelsea). On top of these, the battle/fight sound are perfect, that "Jaeger" OST is practically a rip off of Mezzanine - Angel, which I discovered ... because of this anime and I loved the anime version more. La Chant De Roma crawls to your skin like how Akame's poison crawls through their enemies. Liar Mask was a banger. In short, I'm glad music was invented, thanks a bunch

This niche of anime may no longer be my cup of tea but I still appreciate the ambience of Koe no Katachi, it exuded the same tranquility that I've felt when I've finished animes like "Your Name" and "Weathering with You". That solitary yet serene warm feeling. Back then, I used to resonate with Shoyo Ishida with his troubling insecurities and self doubt but now I say "womp womp" to my younger self and to Shoyo. Jokes aside, much ike Shoyo Ishida, I've come to terms with myself and I've found the same love that he found for his self in the ending. Regardless of ... what I beliefs I uphold in the near future, I believe this anime was essential to my character development, as this was one of the first animovies I have finished, makes it extra special since I've watched these with a group of special people and I've had to cut college classes for this one.

I vividly remember the excitement I've had when I saw the first episode released after N years of waiting from Wit Studio and after hearing it was just 12 episodes and was rushed. I was watching this in class for Christ's sakes, was barely listening on our "local heroes" lesson, which was pointless to teach by the way because "heroes" are just "self mythologizing narcissistic autocrats" but Sasha and Erwin? yeah those are real heroes right there, badass too. I still feel bad for Miche, Gelgar and Bananaba (a hot mum btw) up until this day, those are tough ways to go. 12 Episodes? no ... ducking problem they made it feel that it was more than that. Though I was already aware of the "big reveal" since I have read the manga prior to the S2 release, through Hiroyuki Sawano's masterpiece of a soundtrack, that "big reveal" was masterful and that Call of Silence scene with Ymir has a speical place in my heart.

Writing this review with touch of recency bias and dislike for the last season as whole and the ending, I'm practically 7 years late on making a review for this one. Regardless of the unsatisfactory/mediocre feeling I've had for the closing season, the 1st season holds a special place in my heart, not only did it brought me to the realm of anime but it's also the first anime I've finished. Essentially, it brought me down the rabbit hole of "anime's like attack on titan" and I built my seinen niche from there. As my palettes for anime ran deeper now, I've come to dislike ... people recommending attack on titan as their first go to suggestion, for reasons I am still uncertain, maybe I grew out of it, maybe I am just someone with superiority complex on anime or maybe I am just jealous of people who haven't watched it yet and they are able to experience what I was yearning to experience once more when I've first watched this anime. One thing is for certain, I am grateful for this anime it but "we must keep moving forward".
