Both Devilman and the Getter Robo series come straight from the twisted mind of Go Nagai. Most of the work done on Getter Robo is by Uncle Go's co-creator, the late Ken Ishikawa, however, their storytelling and general theme is very similar. In the recently-scanslated Shin Getter Robo manga, the Getter team goes through several... very "extreme" scenarios, including alien invasions and lack of control on their own power sources. Devilman also has invasions (demon invasions!) and a generally gritty depiction of life. Both have tons of blood and violence, following Uncle Go's traditional style.
