Look, I wanted to like this, I really did. It's just not good, and doesn't really progress or get better, though the show hides behind fake progress to lure you into watching the conclusion. Idk how this show could've possibly gotten a second season. Honestly.

The MC has little to no common sense, must be emotionally stunted, and is absolutely just a waste of air. The MC's main interest isn't much better- she's fine with letting him spend all his money on her to the point of him being broke, letting him abuse her time outside of the app, and openly stalk her. It's not the ... typical cutesy anime romantic stalking either, it's openly following her MULTIPLE TIMES for hours on end. She's always ok with this in the end.

So, the main two are the worst part of the show- however, the supporting characters are great. His friends stand up for him or her when it logically makes sense, the MC gets the crap beaten out of him by his friend, for acting scummy af. I actually cheered! Poor Ruka. She was in the rent-a-gf app too, but she had the dignity to straight up tell her client she wasn't interested, and move on.

This show hits a high point about 3-4 eps in, and takes a nosedive from there. They try to keep sprinkling in the MC's ex as some sort of buffer to the monotony of the show, but the scummy MC just keeps on scumming along, making an easy situation difficult. The whole thing harkens back to the personality-less MC's of the mid 00's harems.

3/10- 1 point for his friends, 1 for ok music, and 1 for the animation style.

Seeing a lot of terrible reviews but this was a pretty good break from the norm, IMO. The IRL elements aren't super interesting, but the in-game time is great. Just like S1 SAO lol. Enjoyment is to be had if you're in this for a change.

VRMMO where you can feel pain, fatigue, taste food, and all that good stuff. A mysterious ahole's made a guide to the game, and the generic big tiddy pseudo love interest doesn't do much. The interactions between player and world, plus way the plot progresses/twists is the main pull for me because the setting is pretty standard.

A decent one-off that ... gets better as the eps progress.

This is by far the worst show that has ever come across my screen. It's based off an ecchi/ hentai game but there's none of that, just heinous story and little clothes.

The first episode had me hoping; a co-ed camp in the middle of the forest, the characters seemed to get along, and halfway through ep 1, this veil was torn. It's a nonstop torrent of non-hentai, shameless "plot" and just bad writing.

Icing on the cake is I saw the dub on youtube quite a few years back. It was especially terrible! You'd think they would rewrite the lines so it could be funny, but ... the source material was followed strictly. What a shame.

Watch it if you want to reset your standard for bad shows.

Accidentally wrote a review on season 4 at first, so I'll just post it here, hoping this is the first season.

I really wanted to like Gintama. I pushed myself through quite a few episodes, hoping it'd get better and become that awesome anime people talk about. After 67 episodes you just to come to this conclusion of not enjoying it very much and still being clueless.

There are some times where it's funny and the story makes some sense, but as someone who doesn't really understand the thousands of references or nuances thrown around every episode, it just comes off as a random, over the top, ... and very shallow thing you leave in the background as noise.

The main characters are pretty likeable, but everything that happens is either so fast, gross, random, unbelievable, etc.. that it's hard to actually get into. I truly don't understand why it's so high on the list, maybe I just have bad taste, or maybe it's a show for a specific type of person. Not for me!

My rating is for ep 1-14.

Remembering the first time I watched this gives me goosebumps. It was such an amazing entry into Isekai that it felt like a ray of light was coming down from the heavens. Characters were pretty deep, really felt like a part of a moving and evolving world, excitement of the unknown was high, and the setting was standard, but not too shabby.

The first arc, eps 1-14, is the best part of season 1.
It builds up the world, emotions, sets goals, an endpoint, and makes the world feel alive by pacing itself well through great storytelling. Episode 7 is my ... favorite from the first arc, and it gave me a feeling nothing else from this series did when lizbeth and kirito were flying through the air.

After this, it drops off into some droll bits for a few episodes, and when #12 comes, it's back in gusto to finish off the big bad. As they sat on the precipice of the world watching it fall to pieces and remembering the fallen, I almost cried.

Everything after this was just not as good. The group IMMEDIATELY jumps back into the same situation as before, but with fairies and more boobs. The main antagonist literally puts a girl in a cage, dangling her like a carrot in front of the donkey as the main goal. This whole thing felt extremely insincere, like a badly planned money grab.

Got to episode 20 and hard dropped the show. It felt like a slap in the face compared to the original plot, and was very very disappointed. Heard the gun game thing is pretty good, but I'm still salty about fairy world. Maybe in a few years when the memories fade.

My biggest issue with the second season is that the story progresses absolutely nowhere. It's all of the in- between filler that's supposed to be cute and funny, but when the plot seemingly moves backwards.. Just get on with it. Please.

This show is pretty good all said and done, even if some of the tropes are off-putting like overreactions followed by violence. Art is pretty good, so is voice acting. The first season was much better with the overarching and episodic storytelling.

Characters are flushed out a bit more, but it doesn't really go anywhere; just more reinforcing the history and traits they already have.

Season 1 ... is dope. Season 2 is nope. Idk if there's a S3 in the works, but you could literally skip the 2nd season and miss absolutely nothing. This should have been a 6ep OVA about silly side- stories, not a main entry.

This was the first anime I ever watched, back when I got my first ever online sub service, a netflix account.

I'd never actually watched an anime in order and all at once before. It was a game- changer for me, and I binged the whole thing day 1. Haven't really seen it since.

From what I remember, the show itself wasn't terrible, but there were very obvious and mind- numbing patterns that happened in almost every episode, but other than that it wasn't bad. This really set the stage for a very mediocre ecchi comedy, and it's kinda what I set my anime standards according to, ... or at least used to.

The characters have some depth, but it's shallow. The story could be pretty great, but it's just.. bland. The ecchi isn't really even there, just a panty shot at the end and a few glimpses of bouncing tiddies.

Voice acting was pretty good. I have fond memories of this show, even if it's not that amazing.

This is the most average, run of the mill isekai i've ever tried to watch.

There is no conflict. Everything is handed to the MC on a silver platter. The characters are almost as shallow and weak as the story. Even if it's a parody, it's not a good one. If they're "making fun of the formula" by being the most predictable and uninteresting series, I'd just skip the semantics and call that a bad anime.

The art is decent, sound effects are average, but it's all for naught because there's no meat on its' bones. Wanted to like it, but it's just so threadbare that there's ... not much to watch.. Even arifueta was better than this, and that's saying something.

Went into it only having seen some clips of the annoying child, didn't really have high hopes, maybe just another thing to leave running in the background.

Boy was I wrong, and this blew my expectations up. A general idea of what it's like: non non biyori mixed with the ryou's work is never done (substitute shoji with calligraphy). It's very lighthearted, paced well, keeps you interested as things come and go, plus they stick to an overarching goal while doing episodic activities.

The art is some of my favorite. It's not afraid to make fun of itself, and the silliness really highlights when tense or serious ... moments occur.

Most characters are well- defined and have specific personalities, they get enough backstory thrown in to seem like actual participants in the story- even if they only show up a few times.

It's very good.

I came from a place of seeing only clips of the silliness, thinking it might be another mindless show with great art, but.. it blew me away. Sure, it's very silly at parts, but it's balanced with moments of focus to re-ground you.

As a big ++ it's not based in high school. It's also only one of few shows I actually watched the intro and outro on; the singers really capture the carefree spirit well.

The overall story slowly works towards an end goal, while not a grand world- shaking one, it is realistic and things play out as naturally as possible through an ... anime. The characters are a bit deeper than skin- level, have defining personalities, and truly feel like different characters.

I would highly recommend this.
