I planned to watch it when it aired on Netflix, but I ended up putting it off for a while.
Anyways, this movie is not something to make a big deal about. It's somewhat cliche and I honestly expected more from this movie. The trailer made it seem better.
Animation is good, but not spectacular. It's decent. Studio Colorido is a small studio, and without knowing who made this, someone may think this was made by Ghibli or any affiliates, but it isn't, so that's something to keep in mind. Studio Colorido is part of a bigger studio that made the anime of Penguin Highway, which I've

never seen or heard about. I feel they flexed some bits that were unnecessary (in terms of animation and visual movement necessities). Trained eyes can notice those flexing parts.
Soundtrack is also decent, but not noteworthy. In parts where they play "trippy and dreamlike music," I felt like those scenes could be portrayed very differently if the music was set to a different genre like say music that describes the scene as "fascinating" rather than very scarily trippy and dreamlike.
At first watch, it seems like a good movie, but when looking back at some parts of the plot... I realize that the plot really is confusing and weird. The first half was kind of typical and honestly boring, but the plot tries to pick itself up and tries to be interesting, but it ends up rushing itself and falls flat on its face. About 40 minutes into the movie, and all there is is drama that doesn't really matter for the entirety of the plot.
Slight spoiler, but the usage of the cat thing is that it's like a s*icide type thing (or even transgender issue type thing), and the message of the movie is that no matter how you or others downgrade yourself, you do matter in this world and there are people who care about you and love you just the way you are and there is no need to change yourself to fit the view of others. (Beauty is suggestive after all).
Not gonna dwell into much of ^^ because you can watch the movie and see for yourself.
I personally don't like this movie just because, I don't like it because it has a nice message, but the message is delivered in a poor way, but somewhat mediocre. (I guess it was delivered in a mediocre way when the message is said near the very end of the movie).
I personally like the "epilogue" during the credits. It was cute.
