Amidst the wave of trash to mediocre Isekai garbage stands Mushoku Tensei atop.

What happens if you bring all Isekai tropes together and utilize it to its fullest potential? You get Mushoku Tensei.

It's simple, really. Every season, we get a bunch of Isekais all over the place ranging from total garbage to watchable ones. They make one for every season and make sure there's a unique element on each such as a cellphone, a pharmacy, or whatever quirky stuff there is. But what if we just take all Isekai tropes as is, and make a perfectly-paced storytelling with a masterful character introductions and development THAT ...

Horimiya (Anime) add
While I am aware that this show is supposed to be a vanilla romance with no much complications, it's just paced oddly with the sudden and unrealistic developments. Vanilla romance is nice and all, but it should be backed with good story telling and plot progression. The art is there, the characters are there, and as plain and simple their roles are, they failed to make sense of their relationships. Out of nowhere, person A becomes friends with person B. Then they become a couple.

I'm not sure if this storyboard failure is on the animator's side or the manga author's, but they could learn ...

Preliminary (7/11 eps)
While I do understand how pleasing this show is to the eye, the pacing is just plain horrible. The internal dialogues mess up the battle's pacing which is a very essential thing in shounen animes. I get the feeling that they forced this arc to be presented as an anime while it could've been a 1 hour and 30 minute movie.

If you observe carefully, there are plenty of hang times on character internal dialogues. The pace feels unnatural and it messes the storytelling part of the anime. The plot is really being stretched.

I guess this is just ufotable carrying the Kimetsu no Yaiba ...

Rent a Girlfriend is a perfect example of tossing tropes around without any development at all. All those episodes and there's no evident plot and character development. There's no synergy between the character's personalities and the plot itself. The MC is just plain pathetic and painful to watch, a perfect definition of a simp. The only good thing about this show is the OP, Ruka, and Mami's cuteness (who barely got any screen time).

Manga spoilers!

A year literally passed in the manga, and still no character development on MC's and Chizuru's side. The plot is as stale as ever. The manga feels very stretched, and the ...

Plot-wise, it had the potential to be a great show. The concept of reincarnating a badass IRL into a properly-built badass in another world is a pretty niche yet good idea. Unfortunately, the adaptation is on the disappointing side. Sure, the MC's goal and growth plan is present, but the explanation of the growth system and progress is vague. The pacing of MC's development and progress feels too rushed, and the results he acquired became more questionable rather than mysterious.

A few episodes in, the MC is surrounded by cute girls, ...
