The same cozy, fantasy atmosphere. Both in the Iyashikei style, with a very pleasant, slow pace in the way they tell the story. Both take place in a rural Japanese environment where magic and beings from Japanese folklore are normal.

Sen Wa, Boku Wo Egaku has similar theme: art and coming of age. But the approach is different in many ways like: * In Blue Period the story start in High School, in this serie they start already at colege. * Sen Wa, Boku Wo Egaku is more dramatic with Sousuke Aoyama, the protagonist, with a trauma to deal with. * It's about sumi-e painting, a very specific art style. * it's a really short manga.

You know that kind of anime that the feeling is so easy going and good to see that you just want it everyday? Their stories have nothing in common, it’s the feeling they give us that makes them similar. Both have hardworking protagonists who struggle day after day to become better while remaining true to themselves. Furthermore, as in Fune wo Amu, nothing extraordinary happens and that's the magic. It is the particularities of everyday life that make the story. The other characters are also suitable in a plot plus, although different, both series are slice of life only one in the context of isekai in a magical universe and the other in the context of real life. Of course i really love them both!
