New Anime review, WA2.


*Spoilers* yes, spoilers.

Statelight, Producers of Fairy Tail, Hellsing Ultimate and Log Horizon. Then you've even got Starchild Studios, Producers of Toradora! A highley rated romance anime.
Mix together good ratings, and good romance you've got yourself white album 2.

There was a problem brewing, the bullshit, lies and cliché’s of anime have been used all up. Everyone turned their heads and said fuck it; we'll wait till we've got some more.
Statelight, and Starchild Studios ran up to this accumulation of Truth, grabbed a handful and made a run for it. This handful they had randomly grabbed from this pile needed a name to go by. They gave it the alias, White Album 2.

At first glance though, it’s just as another screw up- visual novel adaption. It’s cast away as another Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito fuck up of an anime, simply made for fan-service and Mountain dew sipping, 50 year old children living in their parents basements and surviving on dog food.

Yet, White Album 2 is the opposite.

The truth hurts. Whether your girlfriend is cheating on you, you've lost a close one or just the man down the street has just written "Truth" On his penis again, everyone has different ways of taking, solving, and living through the problem. It's because of this that White Album 2 brings to us a new "Type" of anime. Though it has been done before, I'm not sure (correct me if I’m wrong) it's been done this well. What I’m talking about is the sheer amount of reality there is in this anime. It's so real, I even answered one of the characters questions because I got mixed up between real life and this anime, and believed it was directed at me. That's why; at the end of the anime I shed man tears. (Not to be confused with regular tears). The anime shows the “Truth” of romance. It’s not all pretty; it’s not all flowers it’s not all birds and doves, and it’s not Pink Blossom. Love is painful.

This anime has everything that a romance, slice of life and music anime needs. An interesting love trio, a realistic an entertaining plotline and good music. This show wasn’t your typical slice of life “K-ON, Fill them up so much you can fill a canyon filler” anime, it was plot, development and enjoyment. In fact, it was so unflawed I could use this anime as a shield and sit through an entire episode of mars of destruction, though I might have had to skip the opening and ending (lets not get crazy here, I still have a good 80 years ahead of me).

The anime really touched upon some pretty deep subjects such as Trust and Responsibility, showing how a deeper connection is needed, and more communication is also needed for a relationship to take place. For instance, the main character had no idea that the Touma was interested in him. Touma, the typical “Tsundere” type of character. her personality made all advances impossible for Kitahara, leading to a sad ending where they both knew they initially loved each other, but their personalities got in front of that.

So, in conclusion there are two ways you can go about watching this anime.

1. The most typical way, watch it and enjoy it throughout.
2. Watch it, and learn from it.

I took the second rout; I’ve learned two main things:

1. Communication is the most important thing in any relationship; Friendship or Dating.
2. The Truth hurts.

Hate music and wondering whether to go for the watch or not? Well lets put it this way. It’s better than the god-awful attempt of a love story some call Twilight, so it’s worth a shot.

Just hearing the name "Mirai Nikki" sends a shiver up my spine, the best way to describe such a show is fucked up. Girls going from cute loli princesses, into evil High-School girls that have nothing better to do than rip each other apart. Put aside the fact that everything is extremely unrealistic and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and you've got "Mirai Nikki", another Romantic, Psychological Thriller that's better than twilight.

Usually I set up my reviews in sections, but this time i thought "Fuck it". Lets begin.


Lets get out the way and just point out that the art and sound art good. ... Nothing really to review here as it's everyone's separate opinion.

Now, before you continue this review there is a question I've got to ask you.

Do you like to be mindfucked so hard that you don't understand what the fuck is going on?

If you answered yes to that question, you may as well just start the anime now because that was my initial feeling during the time spent watching.

Mirai Nikki, an anime that for some reason I honestly don't understand, I love. The sheer amount of mindfuckery in this anime is enough to make a man explode in confusion and call the police for mental harassment. I never understood how the god of time was his dream and then real and fuck me it made no sense. I also didn't understand how they got the phones in the first place? Whatever, I might just have forgotten. Who gives a shit about the story? We got to see a cute girl go mental and kill shit.

The characters you may ask? The main guy was a prick, but Yuno made up for him. Yukiteru, or as Yuno commonly referred to him "Yuki!" was one of my least favourite characters of anime, ever. Until around the end when he decided to grow a fucking pair, he couldn't do shit for himself and made Yuno do everything. Thank god for that, if he'd tried to do something he would of died, instantaneously leaving a quick end. I found the other characters (1-12) pretty average. Other than Uryuu, nothing special. Uryuu was a good character, i just didn't understand what the fuck happened with her eventually. She went insane again after calming her tits and tried to kill Yuki? If only she had succeeded, what a shame.

Here for the biggest and bulkiest part of the review? The part that everyone scrolls down because they don't have the time and effort to look through? Kick your feet up, sip on that mountain dew and prepare for a long block of text you honestly couldn't be fucked to read.

The Enjoyment.

Well, as a start I can guess I can say I "Enjoyed" Mirai Nikki. The fight's where pretty cool, and some of the characters on their own where even cooler. It had a good idea behind it, i just think it should've been explained better. I also think that they should've used a better main character, for instance one with balls. Though, I thought the whole Yuno protecting Yuki thing was pretty cool, i've still got to mention the fact that it would've been better if Yuki could man the fuck up and do something useful. He was literally just a 100KG Stone that Yuno had to get on her knees and drag along the plot. I loved the art, I thought the dead bodies that Yuno hid looked pretty sick and the characters themselves looked well-drawn. I'm trying not to drag this review along much longer as I wouldn't want to make it painfully long to read, so the best way to put this anime is a better version of guilty crown.

Final Conclusion:
This show was pretty satisfying. If you're used to all the rom-com stuff, I'd strap on your seatbelt, put your dick back in your pants, and take this for a ride.

You're probably wondering why I used that quote at the start of this review, as it's completely random. But that's the best way to sum up this anime, completely random.

It's very hard to write this review, as there isn't much really to comment on. It's a 12 episode comedy/slice of life with 1 OVA and has few flaws, but in my opinion is worth the watch. In this review, I will tell you why I believe this.

I'd also like to start by saying that this anime has little romance, and no harem ... in it. So if you wanted that kind of thing, I don't suggest this anime.

Story: 6

To put it plain and simply, there isn't one. It's about a group of friends having fun and doing crazy things in their clubroom, it's hard to comment over this because it has not plot line, and I recon you could watch the anime out of order and it would still make some sense. It shows high-school kids doing the unthinkable. The Slice of Life genre seems to be popular, so for those liking this genre along with comedy and you enjoyed animes like Lucky Star, this is a must watch.

Art: 9

The art really was one of the animes strong points. In my opinion, the art was great. They used Chibi characters along with normal ones to emphasise a characters anger and frustration in that given moment. I loved the use of bright colors, and believed it gave the anime a much lighter look as it should have when dealing with this genre.

Sound: 8

I personally liked the soundtrack, nothing more to it.

Charecter: 8

All the characters where different in many ways. Trying not to spoil it here but for instance, Shion. She is a genius, and your typical know it all. But when it comes to common sense, she lacks in some areas. Kind of relating to animes such as The Pet Girl Of Sakurasou, this makes for a funny and entertaining character. Every character is relatable to, (Except Kirara. If you can relate to Kirara, go see a doctor) and they all make the series more enjoyable.

Enjoyment: 10

This anime was made to enjoy. I believe that this was a well executed anime, using the slice of life genre and comedy made it all the better.

Overall: 8

I can understand why this anime gets hate. This anime is not for everyone and anyone, it's one of those animes that you either love or hate. I loved it, it was flawed, had no character development and no plot line or goal, but it was enjoyable and helped me take a break from all the normal, more depressing and sad anime I sometimes watch.

This is my first, and worst review ever. It's also hopefully the first and last 1 overall rating I give.
The amount of times you'll hear Alesa! Or whatever her name was, (there's no way in hell I'm going back and re watching for minor details like her name).

*This review will contain spoliers* (Not that It matters, after you read that first paragraph you've probably given up all hope you may have had.

In a nut shell, it was a load of shit.

Story: 1
There wasn't a story, in my eyes. Nothing made any sense. There was no character development, except for when in the end he turned ... into Goku and fired a blast at the "Black dragon" thus killing it. I'd like the staff of myanimelist to add horror to the genres of this anime, as I felt horrified when I realised I'd wasted away around 30 minutes of my life watching this excuse of a "OVA". There where parts that made absolutely no sense at all, such as when the guy with green hair (some random dude on a plane that we where told nothing about) decided he'd just turn into a zombie, and grow a few scars/bruises on his face that initially weren't there.

Art: 5
The only thing you could say that was semi-decent about this show was it's art. I guess you could say the artist could draw well, wasted talent on a load of shit really. 5 for that.

Sound: 1

This was very bad. The voice acting was bad for the dub, everyone sounded more or less the same, and the main girl sounded like a sick woman. Nothing really else to add for that.

Character: 1

Don't need to add anything here. They all had no development or backstory so we could at least know some of their names, and decided whenever they wanted to turn into a zombie or turn into a dragon ball Z character.

Enjoyment: 1

The only enjoyment I've had was after I finished watching the anime. I felt relieved that it was finally over.

Overall: 1

This goes without saying. It's bad, it's not worth watching and it's one of those animes that staying away from is the best thing to do.
