Without going into spoilers, I recommend people to watch this show if they're into the genre. Solid 6/10, but in a good way.
(I might change my review when the series finish, since I'm writing it half way through, but I doubt there will be a huge shift after the rest of the season is out.)
The show is light and enjoyable, touching on some deeper themes that are standard for this genre (stuck in a game), like exploring if advanced AI can be considered human, how people act when they can do near anything, etc.
The main problem with the show is its inconsistency in worldbuilding. Parts

of it might be coming from a lacking adaptation, but as I haven't read the source material, I can't be sure. But it's so inconsistent that I doubt it's due to an adaptation error. And I don't mean the "bugs", the show contradicts information it gives between episodes, it doesn't expand on mysteries that the characters should be questioning, making them feel like idiots beyond the comedic part until plot-convenient, and seems to introduce new things without foreshadowing when needed and forgetting it in an episode or two when it would solve the situation.
It feels like the author had a lot of "cool" ideas that they wanted to introduce to a story of this genre, and it somewhat works. It seems to lack understanding of its own themes, which means none of the ideas lead to anything more than "being cool for the moment". For example, the entire show should be more of a social experiment from the developers than actually fixing the game, but the story seems too dumb to understand what it's saying.
Still, all of that does provide entertainment that makes the show worth a watch. Get some popcorn, chill on the couch, and watch it with a friend or partner. It won't change your life or make you rethink anything, but it will lead to a nice couple of evenings.
