Bari Bari Densetsu is a short OVA that's based on a '83, 38 volume-long bike racing manga. The short length of the animated series - 100 minutes combined - makes for a fast-paced script with just as many time for development as the time it takes to read this review: almost zero. This is especially true for the first episode, which tries to introduce the cast to the viewers, however it does this in a poor way, as everything feels cramped—indeed, 30 minutes into the episode and there already is an attempted rape scene, which would be saved to roughly to the third episode of
...
a TV anime, for example.
Furthermore, the dialogues and overall storytelling of the first part felt, beyond rushed, very simplistic, like the screenwriter didn't want it to have any depth. They were shallow and only explored the character's personalities and motives to the most basic surface level.
Episode 2 was far more enjoyable. Here the dialogues did feel like they were useful to the story, and there was a bit more of character development as well. The climax was neatly done, too. I was surprise it didn't get me bored after a disappointing first episode.
The show is told through a very dynamic animation, which is what made me watch the series. I don't know much about the technical aspects of animation, but the ones who do praises the show. The voice acting is not very good compared to today's anime. On an irrelevant note, I would like to praise the very pleasant bossa nova OP theme.
Overall, however, Bari Bari Densetsu is a huge fucking waste of time and I wished I had spent my 100 mins better. Even hentai anime plots are more thrilling than this shit.

This was a fun little series of videos. They were directed by Shunji Iwai, a very famous Japanese film director who has under his belt "All About Lily Chou Chou", "Undo", "Fireworks", among other famous reputed movies.
Town Workers is a series of 3 5-minute lenght short movies that follows young adults getting their first part-time jobs, showing them struggling, enjoying, and interacting with their fellow "town workers". At the end of the day, they get home. Tired, but with a sense of realization. Tired, but proud—It's what I felt.
The animation is good. The use of rotoscopy served well the show, making it feel realistic,
...
while preventing the show to feel dragged or heavy, and capturing this slice-of-lifey feel, capturing everyday, human feelings - and conveying them to the spectator.
I recommend Town Workers to everyone. Especially to YOU.

The manga had good ideas, an amazing beginning with outstanding surreal art. The story was truly captivating and it could be interpreted in multiple ways, which was crazy. At first I thought the whole manga was an allegory, but it turned out the story was quite literal - which doesn't means that there aren't interesting themes explored in it.
The problem was that it ended abruptly. Like, really abruptly, to the point that you can't understand what was everything about even though the story spill the beans to you. That's because everything is so fast. At chapter 4 you have a deep, careful and compelling story
...
and 2 chapters later the author has to rush everything like the water had already started boiling and she should turn the stove off and pour the water on the tea pot (weird analogy, I know).
Despite that, the story is good, and as I said, it'd deep enough you can interpret it in various ways, besides all its cool themes.
The art is also great, the sceneries are breath-taking and the character drawings are also neat.
Overall, Canaria-tachi no Fune is a thrilling story - until chapter 3. After that, it's rushed and it looses what made the story so good - its mystery, deep themes and pacing. Nonetheless, it's a good manga, a good narrative that I think people should read, despite its errors.
Thanks for reading, Onii-chan! ♡

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san is a pretty unique anime, and probably one of the most (over)hyped animes of Spring 2021, and I'll tell what lead me to dislike the show. Shall we? Disclaimer: this review contain spoilers
The story follows "Senpai" an exageratedly shy 2nd year student and Arts Club member, who after a unfortunate situation meets Nagatoro, a energetic 1st year student girl, who started bullying Senpai in a "light" way ever since.
In basically every episode (at least until the 6th) Nagatoro bullies Senpai in a simmilar and boring way. And the worst part of all, they add nothing to the story at all. I just
...
felt the anime had "no salt" while I was watching, you know? It didn't made me fell want to just drop the show but it hadn't nothing special too.
By the way, most of the scenes aren't funny, as the anime proposes to be. I can't remember I laughting not even once while watching the show. Probably I just found one scene funny-ISH but it was not sufficient to make me laugh hard is I laugh while watching good shows.
Things get better at episodes 6 and 7 when Senpai and Nagatoro had vacations and they could enjoy their vacations. Finally there was something different on the show, rather than a "teasing slice-of-life" show. Story: 3/10 (episode 1-5) 7/10 (episode 6-7)
Now moving to animation and sound/soundtrack: they're amazing and fits super well on the show. All right, they're not ultra flowed or something, but it fits on the show and I couldn't be more satisfied with the animation. Same with the sound/soundtracks. Probably 7.5/10
But going on the opposite side, there're the characters. They have nothing special at all. They really seem to be something the author made following a formula or inspired on his life, since Senpai is a hentai enthusiast and writes his own mangas, wich is the same that happens with the Author 774 "Nanashi" 3/10, for the characthers, at least they didn't made me want to rage quit the show.
Final rate (based only on my enjoyment): 4.35/10. The show had a lot of potential but it lacked on its execution. It started getting better now, I don't know if the show will keep the rythim though. Probably I will uptade the review as I watch the show (and as the episodes are being released)
Hope you enjoyed my review
