Things that make you grow up as part of society, is connection (or stimulation, as this anime called). A living being, from baby without any knowledge, start following instinct and gather more connection around. Fushi, humans, or any living being, we all same, chasing out more & more connection, in strive for acknowledgement by the society.
(+) To Your Eternity was my runner up from prev season, yet again they got my 2nd spot this Summer 21. It’s simply slow-pacing story with consistent character development is what makes me love it. For first few arc, MC here doesn’t feels like the main spotlight but more like
...
a side-kick following the story of real MC on each arc. This kind of setting success to grow us more attached to them, fly us high but end up just to break us down so badly (aargh Marchii Guugu sorry we can’t protect you). At the last Arc, the story become more focused on Fushi as MC because it starts getting mature as a living being. At first, this creature seems strong as it able transform to many other creatures, on top of being an immortal too. But as story goes on, we realize that power is not everything, not enough to bring a miracle.
(-) The animation quality may not the top, but a clear flow of action is the only thing we need for this kind of story. Well.. true that Zombie arc quality drop is noticeable. Fine If only affect the fight but one that disappoint me was when One-eyed girl hit the Chair girl, it’s not animated at all! Feel just like a moving zooming & panning PNG, make it much less dramatic than it supposed to be. This Arc story itself has a weakness by presenting too much character so we don’t have much time to care about those side-“side-characters”. On top of that, the arc MC can easily gather hates from us by her attitude. Even her back-story won’t bulge an inch of my view bout her. Wait.. why am I so hate this char? Did I already fall in the writer’s hand, dancing on their palm all along?
Summary, To Your Eternity is a great emotional journey of a creature from innocent baby-like to be more mature as it gathers more connection surround and getting attached to them. It doesn’t have goal, it only follows their instinct and heart. Generally it only of other people lives on each arc. That’s why we can just start follow it’s journey from any arc we want. It is generic, yeah.. but it makes me addict(ed).

“I hate adults. They segregate, command, direct and force. Idols are no better. They laugh at stupid things, shake their butts for customers, it's stupid! I came here to do the job I hate the most. To be an adult, I need to be good at it. To protect those precious to me. I'll do anything!" MC at Ep 1.
In society there’s a layer of social status that control us, ground worker must obey the higher up, adult giving nonsense order to youngster, etc. Even if the bottom people already fed up with all those bullsh!t but it can’t be helped, they keep endure it
...
because it’s the way to be higher up adult themself. On another side, the above people did it also for the sake of their junior in life/work, or else workers would be slacking jobs, and teenagers would be walking in dark future path, etc.
22/7 is not a pure idol anime, it’s more like a drama slice of life teenangers stepping into mature world facing the upcoming responsibilty being an adults, dealing with another higher adults, strugling between looking for jobs and/or chasing dream, but it all packed in an Idol themed genre as a medium. I repeat, it’s not an idol anime, so don’t worry too much if you don’t like idol anime, but if you already like idol anime please don’t demand too much about their concert.
(+) This anime potrays really well about social levels. How an adults doing watever they want to youngster. At first, the order from higher ups might sound unreasonably absurd but as they follow properly, turns out it all went well in the end. Because a secret of parents in raising a child is the secret itself. Kids don’t need to know the details what happen in background. But as they became more mature, of course there’s a rebellion state as a sign they grow into adult themself. Here we see how idol work in realistic detail: training, concert, side-jobs, dailies etc. We also got the dark side of any workplace like distrust, disappointment, burdensome member, self-doubt, fatal mistake, etc.
In fact 22/7 is an actual idol, more precisely a virtual idol. So characters got story from the actual member. Their 3D is using a motion-capture tech so it feels natural, including the anime. Handled by pro studio A1 Pict, delivers a smooth animation both 2D daily & 3D concert. Since audition, backed up by Sony Music Records to find talents with great voice is easy. So don’t worry about sounds aspect, I like the unique voice of MC also the one with Kansai dialect, it’s easily recognizable. There’s a lot of good OST you might add to playlist. The OP, ED (Ep 1 3 4 OVA), & insert Ep 3 8, is into my taste.
(-)Yes, the story is realistic but not all humans life is interesting, 50% members have a flat plot (Ep 4 6 8 9). The first 3 Ep was a good start & conclusion but members story in middle eps still missing a climax. Yet the OVA also didn’t bother to, it only introduce 3 new member & nerfing one old member. Differentiating each members may not easy but not that hard, about 2-3 Ep needed to finally understand all 8 characteristic as summarized in Ep 3 at how they act when 1 by 1 entering building.
Yes, the animation is smooth, but just from OP we can sense something wrong with their 3D anatomy. Ok, they want to keep realistic with motion-capture so It can’t be helped because logic in anime & real life is different since start. Example the eye size, nose contour, neck length, head & body proportions, etc. On 2D part, as the episodes progress we can feel a cut in budgets that result in some characters look similar. But since at that time we already know all members, this might not a big deal.
Yes, their voice is pretty but most of member’s personal songs isn’t catchy like the group’s song. And if only have + budgets, they could at least make animated solo perform on each member ED. Also at Ep 8, the encore feel so cringe for new viewer, without that it would be the best perfom.
(=) In the end this is a drama anime with some Idol theme, not an Idol anime with some drama. For you who like drama, this would be good also as a training if you plan to try pure Idol anime.

Shoujo Ai or Yuri. Where did this felling came from? How those people struggle dealing with their own feeling? etc. Adachi Shimamura pictured them all beautifully here. Vivid visuals, soothing sounds, lovely story. Akari Kito voice is fine but personally I really love Itou Miku unique voice here. For this kind of relationship, we can’t really tell the story pacing is fast or slow. If you consider it slow, you won’t realize that the development already started. If you consider it fast, actually it’s not going anywhere. So let’s just enjoy their daily life, each episode won’t be as boring as our life anyway. Maybe
...
it’s simplicity that can hook you up waiting for next ep, just like I did. At first I only give score 6, but as the show goes on I’m starting to looking forward to it. Then I realize that my anticipation is worth as other 8 scored shows this season. Like I said, maybe it’s simplicity that can hook you up.
Not sure about other country but here between close friends, we used to call each other using bad nickname like mtherfker, ash*le, baka-yarou, kuso, etc for boys. Even if we didn’t really mean it. But if that boy get irritated, usually it will be solved in barbaric ways and in the end they become friends again even closer. Same for girls, they call each other darling, sweetheart, my love, etc, Even if they didn’t really mean it as well. The side effect for girls’ case is what we can call L.
The more you watch, it might change your perception of this phenomenon. This girl is just unlucky, need more attention, longing for affection, shy & timid. And that girl is just pure kind & caring while innocent & insensitive at the same time. As the show goes on, we might start yelling at them, "Can you stop being so thirst for love!" (actually no, please keep timidly chasing your feeling), "And you too, please stop being so innocently kind!" (I mean no, please keep insensitively making her misunderstand even more).
From general people view, we don’t want them to get separated but they don’t need to be in that kind of relationship. We start to look for a solution to them but nothing pop up. At least we wish they keep on getting along like this. Wait, does it mean we are supporting L? We just don’t want any of them to get hurt, that’s it.

Every life has a purpose, Everyone has a role to play (Caroline Myss & Jane Goodall).
In society, we live side by side to run the society itself. Even in human body, there's trillion cells that work to run the body itself.
We always daydreaming that someday the higher ups gave us an easier jobs, comfortable environment, more praise & recognition etc. It can't be helped that they won't listen to us. All controls is in hand of the higher ups. But how about yourself? Did you give better treatment for trillion cells inside you working for your life? aren't you keep ignoring your health just for
...
temporal satisfaction?
Health. Cells at Work: Black wonderfully portrays what happen inside an unhealthy human body in an interesting way & easy to relate. In this hopeless workplace, all cells forced to play their role no matter happen.
Even if some body part already failing and giving uncomfortable feels or even pain signal. But shikatanai, the decisions is in You (the human conscious). Mostly, You only decide to solve the aftermath effect the pains, not the source of cause. Did you failed to understand the reason of that pain, or you actually just turn a blind eye about it? Whatever, if you're not going to change. Let's ignore this corrupted consciousness & talks about the other issue portrayed in this anime.
Workplace. If the higher ups gave indifferent response, the only saviour of this world is the worker, by doing their best at work & encouraging the others too. But what if most labourer already gave up on this body? Even if there's a single cell didn't give up yet, can he solve all this world problem? As everyone has a role, he also only have one role too. Can he cover everything? Can he make it before he run out of spirit? The only candle in this dark space.
Cells at Work: Black also shows a dark side of an unhealthy workplace. A bullying from the seniors, overflowing workloads, slacking slackers, even the dying old cells still forced to work overtime. As each cell have their own role, it's not rare for them to think the other cell job is easier. The grass is always greener on the other side. The conscious & each cells worker, If everyone keep being selfish like this, what will happen to this doomed world?
The visual is in good standard. Some chara design maybe don't have to be revealing like that, but it's fine for a bit fanservice (+ tentacles episode wohoo..). Please don't mind about some technical mechanism logics in here, like the blood inside the cell, jumping freely inside stomach, etc it's just for dramatization.
The sound never been much problem for me.
Summary, this anime can pleased all kind of targeted audience. Adults Seinen can relate both the workplace & health theme. Teenagers maybe don't really care about works yet, but at least this anime amusingly shows how each body part works, that might help schoolers learn their Biology subject.

Prejudice is Anxiety, Ignorance is Bliss.
When Mom & my young self moved to my new father house living with his big family at same roof, the new environment doesn't bother me that much. Everyone is kind to me so I continue enjoying my life. But as I grow to an adult, a lot of bad assumption & prejudice is start to piling up. This peoples seems good in front of me, but behind I heard a badmouth about Mom or me somehow spreading out in neighborhood. So I must wear a persona mask at most of times. I can't really trust anyone anymore, it gave
...
me anxiety. While watching the neighborhood kids playing outside innocently making annoying noise, they don't really care what other people think about them. Ah... how nice it is to be young, it's true that Ignorance is Bliss.
Higurashi Gou try to potray those issue in more general case. MC return to hometown & going to same school with childhood friends. Being a new citizen force him to learn more about this village culture. At first he still blissfully enjoy his life, until he start to curious about some past incident that leads him to have prejudice with many peoples. Soon his daily life will be full of anxiety. The incidents that he fears, does it really exist?
The story, it success to make a tension atmosphere because the general cute character design & lovely daily life, that can catch us off-guard later. The mistery is so complicated, good for your thirsty brain. At a certain eps you might confused with a sudden change of plot. Dont worry! You're not missing anything, just keep on going. Soon you'll understand that shifting means.
There's a lot of revelations at final girls arc. But it maybe still not enough to explain some skip scene. So I think this general Gou series is more like an additional spin-off for those that already read the novel or watch all prev anime series. There are many part that assuming the viewers already know the normal plot. Yet it doesn't bother much for a new watcher (for me), because we still can make some speculation to what actually happen on normal plot. Well, it just doesn't give a flawless plot experience.
The OP & ED song, it is awesome! Really suits the anime theme. They build our nerve at start, then sooth our heart & brain at the end while still processing to understand the episode.
The visual, maybe like a two sided knife. The cute colorful chara design is good to trick us, but at "action" scene they should reduce the contrast & make it darker to fits the horror feels. Also the liquid is too much & too cheap.
Summary, Higurashi is for you that like a horror mistery. It is a great novel that you might heard many times when you ask for VN recomendation. If you care more about the story then of course the VN is the best option. If you don't have much time & don't like reading much then you should go for Old Higurashi anime series then continue with the new one. But if you can't handle the old anime artstyle then it's fine to just watch straight to the new anime series.

SAO has been blasphemed for years by netizens. Yet my friends a pure watcher regardless of what's the SNS said, he still enjoy and recommend it to me. Their fans suggest to at least try the Alicization arc because it's a fresh start with a better writing & not much related with prev arc. I guess, I should give it a try.
(this is general review of SAO Alicization & War of Underworld, because they all a one package story)
So the story is about MC brain damaged by accident (how come a 1 meter umbrella lose by a 1 cm injector? & he called himself the
...
Sword Hero?). To cure it he must dive in a VR game console that can recover his brain in-trade of carrying a mission to stimulate AI there to break a rule by their own, to make a self-aware AI not a robot. Alice the AI did it but then arrested by the God in-game. MC & friends try to save her & success even with a lot drama mid-way. In real-life side, the game facility attacked by terrorist who want to use that AI for war. Half building locked to protect MC progress but enemy can also dive in game and start a big war. Yet MC still win & send Alice to real life but leaving himself there for 200 years worth time because enemy hack the speed setting. Finally in real life Alice got physical body, MC wake up from slump & become normal again (what's the point of that 200y I mention?). The end, happy ending. Oh wait, somehow to make the story continue, they dive to that game again after few decade worth of time there.
A simple general story with many small forced twist trying to make it complex but failed. By that setting, MC supposed to be a 3rd party observing AI growth but no. Writer really love him and all problems solved by MC, all characters love him. Okay, this harem bait is good for shounen viewers (my youth maybe like it too), but this leads to a problem at final part War Underworld. While the good side is at pinch in the war, all women calling the MC in coma (it's so cringy...), zannen it's not working but after just one small push by his friends Eugeo, he woke up with many OP skill out of nowhere and save the day. Again, after things going normal in real life he cried while remembering his friend Eugeo (so gay...). Eugeo supposed to have a big key at final & gave a stronger touching moments but the viewers don't care much about him because he is just additional cast a by-passer at first arc. This general plot hole can be solved if writer gave more role to Eugeo at first arc, if he really intent to make him the wake up call key to MC at final.
One thing hard to be denied by haters is the visual. It's awesome at normal scene thanks to studio A1 Pict. The fighting animation is fine for me, but as time goes I'm getting annoyed by how short a battle can be. Feels like everything is one hit die, one hit win, one hit lose. Even the snippet at the opening song is more entertaining than the actual scene. Also the SFX feels similar between each clash (well at least not as bad as studio JC Staff).
Summary, the story is generic but the visual still enjoyable so I recommend to skip 25eps Alicization by just watching the recap (it's good enough for a recap ep), then go straight to all War Underworld episodes with top notch visual experience you can get, the battle scene is longer & better too, it's so amusing. Well, if you like catching a harem bait then I won't stop you for going to Alicization eps.

Weebs, a derisive term for a person that love a moral-degenerate products from Japan. These peoples got humilation from society by rain of disgusted & despise gazes, yet they still survive and keep on moving so proudly. So actually those small species are a strong humans that true to themself, never wear a mask just to get accepted by society (I mean persona mask not for Corona).
Idol, one of a few genre at the pinacle of weebness, the teams behind them never half assed making product as a countermeasure for general labelling from society. And inside them there are two biggest title called Love Live!
...
& iDOLM@STER. This time as well, they success making a great series in hope for strengthening their endangered species with Nijigaku.
School Idol Club, three words enough to give the viewer a prediction on how this thing going to be. There are a club that accommodate students who want to be an idol, because the setting is in school they’ll face a problem that usually, mostly, n’ definitely from Seito-kai. They will work together to solve this and reach a happy ending, the end. So I won't expect another story & just want to enjoy the performances, that's what I thought.
While our speculation is not wrong, at the same time it’s not totally corect as well. Instead of evading our forecast, they choose to just accept it. Story worth a dozen of episodes packed skillfully into just 3 ep without giving a bad taste of rushed script. Leaving the audiences running out of predictions onwards. (detail on spoiler down there)
The appealing part of Idol genre, yappari it’s the performances. As an experienced franchise they didn’t fail to meet our expectation. Generaly they are all good, even better than the source counterpart (game).
Chase! A great choice as the 1st performance, selecting manager (nominee) & pink girl as viewpoint is also a smart pick as they represent two type of targeted audience. Manager can be likened as a new fan of series who just taste the enjoyment of idol and Chase! did a great job at pulling them with passionate song & awesome stage effect combined with the story made us felt the same as manager.
Dream With You. Don’t want to give you expectation but it’s best performance so far. Pink girl suits really well with all type of watcher, a newb or veteran. Still like cute things (for her) or Idols (for us) made an adult felt embarrassed if the world found out, it gave us anxiety. Yet this performance respond it with: how come they won’t admit these kawaii-ness? The already great song still lifted up with great visual, cute choreo, smooth animation even transition into 2D still keep the quality. Costume feels a bit too big for her but that’s what make it cute & not much skin revealing as a prove that idol isn’t always about sexiness. Sasuga #1 fav char at latest poll on game.
(light spoiler ep 123)
Lot of things prepared beforehand so everything can be swept in one go (I mean 3). Problem from sassy child is just a different opinion with leader, so it can be solved by changing her point of view. I like how they pick an exact sentence to make her realized by herself. Seito-kai & Club leader have a relation since start, so the disband threat can be solved with a great speech by manager. I really like how they intentionally add a clumsy line after such a strong scold by manager to keep her character modest, so she doesn’t sound like a shounen protagonist solve anything with talk-no-jutsu. After these mainstream story of school club setting, the studio can freely write each characters’ specific story. So, what lay ahead?
