Both of these are Harem-type Manga, that looked boring as soon as I read the descriptions for them. But they both turned out to be very enjoyable! Though I prefer Umi No Misaki

in these mangas it is set in a place with no escape. Jack Frost and Senji Kiyomasa both fight with blades that extend out of their arms, both are supernatural/horror type manga and each involve a lot of fight scenes, explosions and blood and gore

Eden no Ori

Both of these are set in a "post-apocalyptic" type setting. The main characters (HOTD - Takashi/Eden - Akira) don't think much of themselves but they become the leader of a group of people they find while trying to survive the aftermath of the "apocalypse". Finally, both offer lots of ecchi shots.

Both the main characters are originally weak, and were bullied at the start of both of these mangas, but then they found strength in a sport that they each love playing. Hajime no Ippo being about Boxing, and Eyeshield 21 being about football. They gradually become better at their respective sports and they each overcome their own fears in order to achieve their goals.

Death Note

Both of these anime are about writing a name down, and that person dying... In Jigoku Shoujo, there is a website that they write a person's name into whereas in Death Note, there is a book (called a Death Note) that the person's name is written into... The downside of this is that in Jigoku Shoujo, if a person writes another person's name onto the website, then they get sent to hell when they die... and in Death Note, the main protagonist can write as many names as he wants, as he has a "Death God's" Death Note and it has no effect on the user... Both are very dark, and very twisted.
