I LOVED THIS MANGA. I have always been rather reluctant to try Shounen-Ai as i pictured it to be terribly frivolous and fluffy and something i would never be emotionally invested in. HOWEVER, this went against every expectation i had with its compelling leads and original concept.
Sakurai Kazuaki aka Sakurai-san aka The sexy seme, is a 38 year old workoholic with no life really. He wants to try gardening in an attempt to spruce his dull life up but that fails due to his lack of skill but manages to be the medium through which he meets Minagawa Youichi. This happens as he
...
is walking and bumps into Youichi which results in his magazine to be destroyed. Aloof and distant, Youichi takes Sakurai-san to his traditional Japanese mansion in which he lives with his 2 cousins, in order to offer him the same magazine he posseses.
Youichi is 19 years old and an arts student and Sakurai-san takes an instant dislike to his cold (not in a tsundere way) demeanor. Then, after several coincidences that brings them together, they start to form a special connection through which they learn more about their shortcomings. Youichi starts to care and stand up for others including his cousins and Sakurai-san realises that he has to real connection to anyone until Youichi points this out. As their characters develop for the better, their attraction becomes undeniable.
Sakurai-san is unable to comprehend falling in love with a boy 19 years his junior and Youichi is unable to articulate his feelings as he had never been in love until he met Sakurai-san. One is conflicted and the other, a never-been-kissed-virgin , attempt to go against the cultural/social odds as their deep, deep love cannot be supressed ,hehe.
I really love that the stereotype of rapish seme and the tsundere uke were not present as it is with the Yaoi genre. Sakurai-san is caring and respectful towards Youichi and Youichi is genuine and passionate with Sakurai-san. The character development, the chemistry and the art was just fantastic and i want to re-read it soon.
