Claymore

1. Demon-Hunt - D.Gray-man has a secret organization that deploys the 'Exorcists' and hunts down the Akuma around the world. Claymore also has a long-well established organization composed of blonde and beautiful girls in an armor and a long-sword called 'Claymore', hence the title, that hunts these monsters called Youma. 2. Half-Demon and Half-Human Hybrid - The main characters of the series: Allen Walker (D.Gray-man) and Clare (Claymore) were once regular kids before, but due to events that happened in their past, they became what they are now. And, they also share similar tragedies of losing their arms, Left Arm for Allen Walker and Right Arm for Clare, before they acquired their new special skills. 3. An Orphan and His/Her Master - Allen Walker and Clare almost share the experience in life, particularly, their once traveling companion, their Master. Both of these MC were once an orphan, picked-up by their Master due to a certain event, and then was trained to become a soldier that would fight for the humanity. Although Allen Walker has somewhat a mischievous experience with his drunkard-womanizing master, Marian Cross. Clare's experience with her master, Teresa, was the best, and arguably, the happiest moments in her life even with the advent of Youma's. 4. Akumas and Youmas - In both of the series, the humans were always terrorized by these monsters. And each of them has a distinctive characteristics: the killing-machines and the human-flesh eating monsters. The Akumas were designed by the Millennium Earl, the main antagonist of D.Gray-man in hopes for killing all of the humans and eventually destroying all of the Innocence (the main weapon of the Exorcists to fight Akumas). While, Youmas behave like a vampire that has horrific face and a muscular body. Their behaviours are also common, they hide in our society through killing a certain person, and getting their memories intact and acting as if they were once alive, making it hard to notice for regular humans. Be Warned: Raki (one of the MCs) in Claymore starts off as a sympathetic character but then derails into most annoying character in the series. His entire existence is negligible.

1. Overly-Powered Isekai Dwellers - Rimuru Tempest and Makoto Misumi came from Japan as your Average Joes. One is a middle-age employee (Rimuru) while the other is your ordinary student (Makoto). Rimuru was transported, or rather reincarnated as a slime into the Jura Forest, when he died from the backstab of a runaway criminal. While, Makoto was forcibly taken by the gods, and was thrown off into the wilderness without any humans in sight. However, they grew into the most prominent figures in each of their worlds, enough to overthrow the ruthless gods and foes, and become god themselves, or even greater. 2. Building a Demi-Human Nation - Both figures is seen building their nations with unique and interesting demi-humans consisting of Lizardmen, Orcs, Goblins, and your everyday fairytale creatures you've seen in books and shows you love. However, despite their appearances, they tend to be friendly with humans reaching for a nation with equality, understanding, and without any discriminations of each race. With all that said, they are also a force to be reckoned with if the corrupt officials angers them. They wage war on the lead of Rimuru and Makoto and often win, despite getting outnumbered by their enemies, with their magic, and weapons, and war-tactics. And if that's not enough, they also use the usual Japanese cuisines and other inventions present in our world to improve their lifestyles. Making each show interesting to watch every weekend or on your day-offs. 3. A Handful of Strong and Loyal Servants - Of course without any retainers, Rimuru and Makoto wouldn't be called leaders right? Each of them has their own loyal retainers that has the power to obliterate any foes that comes too close with their masters. As scary as they are. They are also funny to watch. With their loyalty for their masters, they will do the extremes which usually results to their masters (Rimuru and Makoto) being angry and is the running gag of each show.

1. Knowledge for High Stakes - Each Main Character has an obsession towards books and knowledge. They will do the extremes, no matter what the high stakes can be, just to get the knowledge they want. 2. European Setting - If you're fond of Western Medieval settings in books, games, or anime, look no further. Each anime is set in Europe. While the Orb is set into the Medieval Poland where there's a discrimination towards Heliocentrism guided by the Church and its Geocentrism. The country where Ascendence of Bookworm takes place is in isekai Europe, where magic also exists, however it's not stated where exactly the country the setting took place at. 3. Reading and Writing are considered special skills - Each skill is considered a very valuable skill, and is only given to a select few individuals, most prominently the nobles or the higher ups of the authority. 4. Unique Main Characters - The only difference is that The Ascendance of Bookworm has a distinctive Main Character named Myne, the Orb however has... a unique writing which I'll only leave it with your imaginations, or even better, go and watch Orb to see the full details. Another word would be consider a "Spoiler" at this point.

Similarities: 1. Same author: Honobu Yonezawa 2. Mysteries around their everyday life 3. Heavy dialogue between two protagonists Differences: 1. Hyouka exaggerates scenes while Shoushimin doesn't. 2. For the female characters: Osanai is cunning and Chitanda is carefree and always curious. (You might have heard the phrase "Kininarimasu" or "I'm curious.") 3. Kobato and Osanai doesn't have any romantic feelings to each other and it was stated several times throughout the season, Chitanda and Oreki might have a few scenes but it's not official. Both shows revolve around two protagonists solving various mysteries centered around their high school lives, combined with stellar animation. Although, it is written by the same author, the key difference here is that Shoushimin is more mundane than Hyouka.

Girls Band Cry

1. Girls Band and Disband - It's not about having fun like in K-On! or joking around like in Bocchi the Rock! If you want to watch a real girls band with darker themes and real social problems, both MyGO!!!!! and Girls Band Cry can deliver it for you. Each of these bands came from a group of girls that is in the verge of disbanding. But they grit their teeth and continue to face each of the problem that comes their way, even if they know that it's all for naught. 2. Societal Problems - The awkwardness of having someone comes suddenly barging into you, or that difficult family problem and poor financial issues, or that thing that you and your friends promised to each other but was broken by something or someone. And that whole moment of calm, serene, at ease feeling of you and your friends in a band, playing each of the instruments, all gone into a misery. That's the real issue that BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and Girls Band Cry are portraying. Not that fuwa-fuwa or doki-doki vibes you can see in K-On! or Bocchi the Rock! Although Bocchi has confidence-issues, it's the running gag of the show. 3. Beautiful 3D CGI - Having a problem with anime in 3D? Your eyes not used to 3D used in anime yet? Well, sad to say this isn't for you. BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and Girls Band Cry have done a insurmountable amount of work to deliver a beautiful CGI that's even comparable to Disney's or Pixar's or Hollywood's 3D CGI or even greater. And it's not just that, both Toei Animation (Girls Band Cry) and Sanzigen (BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!) both master the use of 3D in anime and you wouldn't even notice it until someone tells it to you. Too bad I did, sorry. Plus! It's not even comparable to that lame dragon CGI you typically see in an anime. It's much much better! 4. Great music, Albums, MV, and much much more! - Not yet convinced? Well, don't worry. Each of the show have great multiple albums that comes with the Opening and Ending of each anime. And both are played by their own Voice Actress, and not even that, they also play real instruments, and perform live on-stage and concerts.
