Valoran Town is a parody animation involving Riot Games' League of Legends characters. The audience is intended to already know the characters in the show, so I doubt this will be enjoyable for those who aren't familiar with LoL.

For those that are, however, this is a great spoof SoL series primarily focused on Lux, Jinx and their hijinks, along with a bunch of minor characters. While the plot isn't especially relevant, there still is a progressing story in the background that wraps up at the end.

The art is pretty decent for how restricted the animation style is, and while the comedy skits often fall flat, ... there's enough of them in such frequency that it's made up for. The characterization of the characters is faithful enough to the source material, though the show pushes their tropes to the max which can be a little unbearable with Ez or Jinx sometimes.

I'd recommend giving it a shot for any League enjoyers, it's a pretty short series so it's not a great big commitment if you end up disliking it.

Some call this peak, some call it brainrot, others call it abhorrent.
I'd say it's somewhere in between.

Shikanoko is the model anime of 'throw comedy at the wall and see what sticks'. I suppose that's the point of absurdist and gag humor but Shikanoko can go from pretty funny to grating, and back to funny again within the span of a single scene. The jokes feel like they've been written by writers with greatly varying senses of what is considered funny and to what extent those jokes should be pushed. There's simple absurdist comedy, references to other anime, games, films from the 90s, even parody-serious scenes. ... Sometimes they work really well, but more likely they either break the pace of the scene or just feel completely out of place.

The one thing that's consistent for the most part is the characters, and they keep the show above water when the comedy doesn't work out. The characters are a tad generic but they're enjoyable, especially when the secondary cast gets introduced. The show becomes more enjoyable as it goes on, as characters are implemented, writing improves and the comedy is generally less off-putting. Still, the characters can't save themselves from the jarred pacing that follows the skits.

It's worth a look at, the show has certainly worked for some, but I just don't think it will be enjoyable for most.

A mix-mash of random comedic scenarios involving the Kobiyashi cast. Some of the scenarios are funny, some not as much, will really depend on the viewer. But hey, it's only twenty minutes so might as well give it a shot.

The skits feature a lot of character-targeted comedy, focusing on Tooru, Kanna and Quetzalcoatl, with cameos from some of the others. The characters follow their stereotypes to a T, and the chibi artstyle works well with the animation to give the characters some the dynamic energy the original series had. It's worth a watch if you're looking for more Dragon Maid but certainly not essential.

This is a recap of the second half of the first season.
It cuts out about an hour of content and adds some minor scenes, most notably in the final fight which clarify parts of the plot.

I would still recommend watching the first season in its entirety if you're planning to watch the rest of Overlord, but if you're tight on time, or just looking for a rewatch, this is a pretty decent recap. It mostly cuts out narrative worldbuilding and some character interactions, resulting in 90 minutes of back to back action.

You won't be missing that much by substituting The Undead King and ... The Dark Hero for season one. The most discarded elements are those involving the adventurer's guild and some Nazarick politics.

Biyori is exactly what it says on the tin. It's a cute slice of life adventure series with a small class of students which get up to typical slice of life shenanigans.

Take a few students and an irresponsible homeroom teacher, and you're set for a pretty decent show. The characters bounce off of each other from time to time, but I feel there could have been some more interesting character interactions than the ones that are frequented in the show. Regardless, the humor hits pretty well, it's surprisingly relatable some of the times for what is supposed to be some primary school students qualms ... about life.

The art is nice, the landscapes are very pretty and the characters are drawn well. The setting of the idyllic countryside is a comforting locale for the aforementioned shenanigans that the cast find themselves in, and the soundtrack is pretty good too.

All in all, it's a pretty standard slow-burn series that's held up entirely by its characters. If you like them, you'll like their adventures, but if you don't enjoy most of the cast you'll find it pretty tricky to enjoy this one.

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song has been a pretty good watch. Essentially following the premise of 'AI goes back in time to stop the future AI from becoming mankind's extinction event', the show follows Vivy through her journey of coming to grips with the situation she's in and finding how to rectify the situation that has been prophesized to her.

The show's strong suit is its action animation, has some of the best I've seen in anime so far. There's a pretty decent amount of time in the series set aside for battles and they look and sound great. They might not the best choreographed and maybe ... don't make that much sense, but action is action and this series delivers. Other than that, the sound design is pretty fantastic and it has a really good backing OST, especially during the more mellow dramatic exposition-y bits.

The characters are written fine, though Vivy and her robot companion are given the lion's share of the screen time and development. There are few characters in the show with more than surface level plot development, and many characters are introduced and done with in just 1-2 episode intervals. The characters that do go through development are written well, though. Well,

..As well as the story allows, at least. Hey, I liked the story, but I can't say that its a masterpiece. A lot of the plot of this rides on time travel shenanigans, which as you know, is a very shaky writing platform as-is. Add futuristic AI and dramatic moral dilemmas onto that, and there's just a lot of arcs in this that are either resolved hastily, brashly, or just not at all.

Regardless, I think Vivy is still a good show as long as you are fine looking over some story concerns. It's short enough that the issues aren't too glaring, and if you're watching this for the action you'll most probably be satisfied.

A pathetically weak demon girl fends off against mediocre magical girl and the magical girl can't help but pity her.

A setup for what is a relatively decent situational comedy. The episodes follow a pretty standard structure and the characters bounce off of each other well. The story is very slow and doesn't really go anywhere but that's fine for what is effectively slice of life between a bunch of schoolgirls. The characters are animated very well and have pretty good writing, even if their actions are at times counterintuitive. The art style of the show does feel a tad inconsistent at times, but the variation ... works out to its advantage in most of the scenes.

My main critique is just that the show really does feel like it goes nowhere for multiple episodes at a time, but as long as you're fine with a bit of filler you should be fine with this.

A run of the mill reincarnation Isekai with the twist that the main character is a complete dweeb and can't stop fantasizing about piloting a Gundam, to the point that the majority of the plot is pushed along by his love for bipedal humanoid fighting robots.

The story of the show is.. fine, nothing spectacular but decent for the show's grade. There's only so much you can do in a 13-episode fantasy Isekai action series, and the series doesn't try to overstep its bounds. The show follows a pretty steady sequence of action followed by exposition and/or the development of new robot stuff, followed by ... action again. The art is actually decent, though there's a few scenes that obviously had much more love put into them than others. Voice acting is fine and the character design is pretty good, though a lot of characters' motives feel like they're introduced just to be tossed aside in the next episode (again, not much you can really do with what the show is). MC is a bit bland and doesn't have any character besides 'I love robots' and having innate reincarnation MC genius, but the supporting cast carry the show.

Regardless, I think it's a fine show. Definitely enjoyable for existing viewers of the mecha genre, though I don't think I'd go out of my way to watch this one otherwise.

As someone who has watched all of the Overlord series to date, I enjoyed this as a quick condensed form of re-watching season 1. It doesn't add much, a few more animated scenes and an extra line or two, perhaps. Don't watch it expecting any new content, it cuts through a lot of the fluff of season 1. Only the pivotal exposition scenes have remained, and most of the action.

As for whether an unfamiliar audience would enjoy the film, I think it leaves out too much of the initial story building of Nazarick and the E-Rantel region to properly introduce viewers to the series. ... I would still greatly recommend watching the first season instead of this if you're looking to get into the series, since this gives you the bare minimum in explanations and feels rushed, but the film is still decent in its own right.

Pancreas is a decently run of the mill Dram-rom. The film sets out to be a pretty standard romance and it accomplishes such without exceeding expectations.

The film begins with a good start, a solid beginning to the main characters' relationship and establishes the conflict that arises later on. However, after the beginning, the film does little to connect its core premise to the plot until the very end. The non-main characters are inconsequential outside of a few scenes, and the two main characters offer little substance to push the film along for two hours. Towards the end the writing of these characters seems to ... falter and the side characters are little more than plot devices to push the romance along.

Evidently, people really liked this film, and I can see why, but I can't say for sure that you'll be a fan of this if you don't already find yourself interested in other Dram-rom plots with basic characters. The art is fine and the music is pretty good, but it can only do so much to elevate the average writing and plot.
