Hi there! I just wanted to start my review by saying that I rarely write a review for an anime but this one is really special and since we just came out of the cinema I am aching to write a review. It just really feels like saying goodbye to our "home" when it comes to anime. Shingeki no Kyojin has been our sole anime title/franchise that we lived-off as an oath and some may say I may be exagerrating but I am sure I will never love a story like this one ever again.

I will get to the point. This may come off as sentimental for some but anime has really been a safe haven for most people who actually love it and specially treat it like an oath for some people who live their lives valuing what they gain on these stories that is created in drawn, mostly 2D format. For the past years, Shingeki no Kyojin in it's entirety, uncontrollably become my model for what a relationship could and should be, yes I am referring to Mikasa and Eren, but hear me out. I know how Eren treated Mikasa is far from perfect and there is nothing seemingly romantic between them at first glance but there actually is and I think what really pursue me to be addicted to this story was a hope that they actually ended up being together. I literally started the anime not knowing anything but kept on watching because I just think the two looked cute together and hoping that one day Eren will confess to Mikasa in any way it may be, but even in the end, my boy never actually said the word "love" to her and it actually make me sad even now I'm writing this. But I think I can relate to Eren being a 'Tsundere' even now, specially now I am in a relationship that is also because of our shared love for this masterpiece and all the scary simillarities of me and my girl to our protags here, that I can say for some people it really is hard to actually say that you love someone even from the start and even the relationship actually depends on it, and in Eren's case, the whole plot. I think the whole story, with all of it's excellence and yet convoluted plot only suggests that everyone can actually love someone even from afar and with just actually showing it.
The next paragraph here is actually the review of the anime movie (yay!). So, it may already be obvious but Yes, I gave it a ten since we actually lived off loving the show and the story is literally is a masterpiece. But hey if you are gonna ask me if it's worth to actually watch it in the cinema, I would say 'no' if you already watched all of the episodes from the show and just thinking there may be some changes/upgrades in the movie because there is none (I think?) and the only addition is the one from the school caste (was actually a nice addition imo) but if you are a die hard-fan like us, I would say you should definitely watch this on the biggest screen possible. We kinda treat it as a farewell to this masterpiece so we actually took time to actually watch it on a large 2D cinema (no, don't watch it on IMAX) as to commemorate our love for this masterpiece and I am just glad that we actually watched it in the cinema. I am so happy even now, I feel complete.
Here is my somewhat afterwords for this review and I will just share my history for the past 10 years since the SnK anime aired and how I lived to those times. I've started watching the show in 2013 not knowing anything and not reading the manga but now I have actually read all of it and watched all of the anime shows and movies (except the Junior high spin-off because I don't somehow wanna ruin the experience hehe). Along the way, I've met my Mikasa to my Eren or Jean (because my real life name is actually is Jean, and depending on your take on the anime's ending haha) and the relationship is going strong imo just need to improve myself so that I can be actually worthy of my lady. Not really cared much for the anime before, just knowing this show is actually good since the beginning but actually cared for it since my girl actually likes it even to my surprise. Lived through the pandemic apart but still sharing thoughts, debates and theories on how the story will actually go. We sometimes did go overboard doing online watch parties and overhyping each other just the two of us. I guess I did actually got my theory right for about 80- 90 percent right specially on the whole take on memories being somewhat a way for the characters to do time travel but not actually time travel aspect on the story. I've manage to watched 400+ anime titles on pandemic alone and this one right here is the toppest of the top and has a special place here in my heart. I am really a super duper mega fan of a lot of things popular (Arcane, Berserk, Evamgelion) and I am not kidding when I say SnK is on my Toppest, it is just so perfect haha. And with the pandemic gone we got to watched the anime ending together and since she is the only one who knows the manga ending by the time the final episode is airing, I did my best to actually dodge spoilers. As my half Japanese girlfriend likes to also watch anime and go to cosplay events (I mostly influenced by what she likes). I made the effort to attend a cosplay event with a normie scout from the show as my first time ever last 2023. Lastly, did some big changes with my life this past couple of months because I moved out with my gf that I now formally called my partner and life's been pretty good so far and we just literally came out of the cinema dressed as a survey corp as I am writing this review haha.
The story may already been concluded last 2021 (manga) or 2023 (anime) but for some of us, specially me, I will stay on these walls of Paradis and never actually leave there haha. Lives been really good lately and all that is left to say is thank you for such a one of a kind of a story and I just hope and wish to create a story like this so that I can be the next me who also got inspired by Hajime Isayama. Sensei, arigato!
I hope that all of you find the Eren to your Mikasa (vice versa) but with a much more happy ending, the ending that no one has to die haha.
SEE YOU LATER EVERYONE!

"Do people fear of dying or are they afraid of not being remembered?"
Let me start-off with a question that I might just heard someone said before but don't know actually from whom. Considering this anime heavily tackles death and having to suffer the consequences of having an almost eternal life, I might really come to an understanding of what I fear the most within the two. Let me just also begin by saying that is my first time writing a review here at MyAnimeList even though I've been here years now and already watched like just 300+ titles. Well, I thought that it was just only ... |
