Choosing your favorite anything for me has always been strange, so I understand! Asking someone their favorite anything is like a knee-jerk reaction that spills out sometimes! XD Usually I describe why I like a certain something and how it makes me feel rather than choosing favorites. That's why I chose to collect anime and manga as an art form because it is reflective of so many things that I appreciate about life and the human condition. Appreciating art in general is like getting a peek into how someone else thinks and that is really intriguing to me as is sympathizing with others and finding common ties as well as what makes each of us different.
I recently started collecting the manga for One Piece. That story has been going for so long that I remember watching episodes airing on television when I was in Middle School! I always thought it was so cool, so I'm glad to soon be jumping into the story!
I've seen some pretty compelling figures of the Bebop squad lately. I'm glad older anime is resurfacing here and there, even if it's sometimes due to a failed live-action adaptation. :p
I understand you mentioned that you are from Germany but do you currently live there? I live in the state of Michigan in the United States. Maybe you are or are not familiar with this but I would watch a show on late night television growing up called Adult Swim. In the daytime it was Cartoon Network. Well, anime like Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin would be playing late at night and I would stay up watching those shows not understanding that it was anime. All I knew was that it looked more grown up and dealt with a lot of subjects that normal cartoons shy away from. But DragonBall Z would show during the daytime, which is funny. Anyways I never actually understood what anime was until I was twenty five and I just got a Netflix account. I perused by a show that caught my attention and thought "sure why not! I'm bored." That show was Sword Art Online. I know it has a funny reputation these days but I loved that show then and watched both seasons in two days. It was the first time since I was a teenager that I watched animation and thought "wow, this is exciting!" After SAO I looked for another show and found Attack on Titan. Quite a difference in feel and story but I was hooked after that and sought out any animated story from Japan I could find. Anime. It came full circle and I realized how much I had watched anime earlier in life without knowing it!

Sorry for the late reply!
I have a fairly decent collection of physical media, like magazines, CD's and DVDs as well as anime VHS tapes. What I have specifically there's just so much I don't know where to begin! I wish I could upload a picture of this room in my house devoted to anime but I will try to touch on what I have here. Figures I have one bunny figure of Raphtalia from Shield Hero. A dozen or so Gundam models. 2B from Nier Automata, Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan, Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, a number of Megumin's from Konosuba, some Strike Witches figures, some Hatsune Miku and a couple of Nanachi's from Made in Abyss to name a few...
Most of my anime and manga lists here on MAL are represented physically in my collection. There's a lot. :D
I've been collecting since 2015. I remember deciding to go all out and make it my passion, my hobby after I went to my first anime convention and bought a wall scroll and my very first figure, a figma of Asuna from Swort Art Online. She sits at my desk now as I type this. :} I can easily talk about my journey into anime for a while but I'll save that for other talks we will have!
I had seen tours on YOUTUBE of anime rooms and I resonated with that aesthetic a lot. Anywhere with anime decorations in a house brings such a pleasant and happy feeling whenever I enter it. Are you the same? Do you feel similarly since you've been collecting for longer than I have? What are some of your favorites in your collection?

Great! I will pick up Suzumiya Haruhi and watch it when I get the chance. ^^ I watch anime on Crunchyroll but when I can I like to pick up physical copies of anime and manga because I really like tangible media as well as collecting. I also casually build Gundam model kits or GUNPLA as its known. I collect figures as well. :D

Some recommendations for you, of course! Looking at your lists, I'm going to try and recommend shows you haven't seen and would also like. To start, try Made in Abyss. It's deceptively cute looking but has a lot of mystery and dark moments. I cried multiple times watching it so fair warning! It is also an ongoing story. The manga is good too.

A film you need to watch is Sword of the Stranger. A fantastic movie set in feudal Japan with a great story and an amazing soundtrack! Also, possibly one of the best animated fight scenes ever put to screen. I've watched it dozens of times and it excites and inspires me every single time!

If you really liked Cowboy Bebop, you must check out Samurai Champloo. Same vibes as Bebop and really entertaining and cool.

Speaking of Bebop, have you seen the Cowboy Bebop Movie? It takes place between episodes 24 and 25 of the anime series if chronology matters to you. It's amazing if you haven't seen it and is pretty cheap if you want a physical copy.

Hope that gets you started my friend! :D I'm always open to suggestions from you as well!

I've always been curious about Suzumiya Haruhi! Would you recommend reading or watching that, or both? :)

I've always loved Kyoto Animation as well. I was devastated when one of their studios was attacked a few years ago. The people there are so kind and lovely and the work they create is stunning. <3 Hibike! Euphonium is one of my favorites from them. Haven't seen Hyouka but now I want to since you brought it up! :D

Sound of the Sky was done by A-1 Pictures and if you like Kyoto Animation, you'll likely enjoy this one as well. :)

That's actually a very good question! My favorite genre... I really like expanding my horizons and trying new things but I do have key subjects and themes that I really enjoy. Dark fantasy like Claymore and Attack on Titan. Scifi like Ghost in the Shell and Gundam. My guilty pleasure is actually Strike Witches and Girls Und Panzer if you are familiar with those. I enjoy moe elements and I am a big history nerd in real life so those elements combined are pretty potent for me. XD I also like epic tournament arcs such as Yu Yu Hakusho or My Hero Academia.

You like Slice of Life and Mystery mixing eh? What is a show you like with those genres? For me it would be Sound of the Sky. :)

I really enjoyed watching Konosuba. At the time of its release, it was a breath of fresh air for the isekai genre while also displaying some good comedic moments. I believe the music really helps with the comedy as well. While for me personally, Konosuba is not hands down the funniest show I've ever seen, I still really enjoy it. The manga perhaps even more so. Everyone's sense of humor differs, so I can understand your take on it. :) My personal favorite comedy is Nichijou. I've showed this to friends who don't watch anime and they were somewhat confused by it but for an anime enthusiast such as yourself, I'd give it a shot if you haven't seen it yet!
Saiki K looks pretty entertaining, I will check it out! Which reminds me, you'd probably like Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto

Hello friend! I see you enjoy Cowboy Bebop, what a fantastic show. I can't tell you how many times I've watched it growing up. Faye Valentine was my first crush in anime. :D
Also, having completed Konosuba, what did you think of it? :)
