It is very poorly executed. Like my other review about Mahou Sensou; it has a good story line compelling but not well done. It leaves you at another cliff hanger.. you don't find out enough about the new character and graphics to feel like its fantastical which it was not.
In short, it was inconsistent, bad plot, uninteresting, dull, it was painful to watch, skipped a lot of the important points which weren't considered.
I loved the original D-Gray Man it was superb, now i look at this and it disgraces me. I found myself trying to watch every new episode, it was unfulfilling with the amount ... of hype i felt for the project it left many of us fans disappointed. The art style certainly improved, but i was more fond of the older style.

Lets talk about Plot-holes
- In the beginning... Why are they chasing that girl, they explain it but it doesn't really make sense... they also don't really explain why this and that happens it just happens and you just want to appreciate the action because it is alright
-Why is it anyone who sees magic can become a magician, its the dullest idea i've ever seen, there is no special ritual or process that transfers you into magicians doesn't make you sympathise with the protagionist at all!
- Ending: They go back and in time for some reason, it serves ... no purpose and you're left at that what a crappy shit ending
- Content: Its jammed packed as it is, being a 12 episode series. They push as many as ideas as they can into your face, its hard to concentrate on the anime without getting lost, i managed to keep up. But i feel like the writers had plenty to write about, but they decided to jam it into the last 3 episodes, perhaps they were like "oh shit its the 9th episode it was boring... lets ramp it up!" It is understandable that it was getting bad reviews

Overall, the anime doesn't compel you enough to want to care about the characters, you don't feel sympathy, you don't care what happened - because frankly i lost track, it isn't emotionally driven like some animes, they don't help you understand why anything happens, the protagonist is naive - he doesn't have any guilt for what happened to his brother? -> he also barely responds to any emotional impact pretty clueless i think naruto would have gotten a clue. On the other hand, it ideas behind the anime i loved em magic type animes are beautiful, but the fact they didn't take the time and effort to plan it all out instead of condensing it into this flat 12 episode anime it feels a bit empty.
Watch it for the action, the story leaves you more confused than the plot line.
