This is if not the best work by Oh!Great visually speaking. The mastery of brush patterns and contrast, the technical level of detail, the astonishing use of japanese folklore images … the most one can make use of simply black and white.
This is the latest, the manga with the best art currently.

The plot. Compliments first. The highlights of this manga are Hanekawa, the conversations between Hanekawa and Araragi and Oshino and Araragi, Koyomi Vamp and Tsubasa Cat arcs and the way the characters’ feelings are orchestrally expressed.

The down sides: I’m really not fond of some imagery and jokes involving super young ... looking girls here.
In between reading the manga, I read the kizumonogatari novel and didn’t notice anything borderline criminal and then I tried to watch the movies and saw some of that stuff there. I want to try reading the first bakemonogatari novel to prove my point that the animators and fandom are the ones that link this stuff to the franchise or if the author himself is the one who adds this stuff to his books.

Either way Ogure simply did his job as an adaptor, and an amazing one if I speak so!

After the anime turned into a zoo it became impossible to watch.

It sure is an anime amongst anime, it influenced many works and is widely popular.
Until Greedo Island arc it was a 10, a masterpiece. Then there’s what could be the worst arc ever made, the ants arc.

I know that filler episodes exist. But now, a whole filler arc!?
A bunch of hideous creatures, a lot of new unimportant characters, whole episodes that focus in the same conversation between the same two characters, fights that last multiple episodes, slow motion important scenes with the narrator describing every detail…
Why the main characters Leorio, Kurapika and the ... phantom troupe are absent for roughly 60 episodes? What is it that Gon cares SO much for this Kite guy? Ugh.

This last impression destroyed the image of how good this anime was for me. Unfortunately. If I knew about it I would’ve skipped this whole arc.

For the last 10 episodes I was already fed up and didn’t care about the elections plot and focused only in the story between Killua and Alluka, which was good.

It’s one of the mangas ever made.

The first like 15 volumes are so good. The heavy atmosphere, the fights, the jokes, the mastermind of Usogui himself. It’s amazing.

It kinda fell off after some arcs, not gonna lie.

The story is filled with needless dialogues and rule explanations that add nothing to the outcome.
I did skip a lot of text boxes and panels.

There’s more women in the first 5 chapters of Tenjho Tenge than in the 49 volumes of usogui. In some points it was uncomfortable.

Overall, nice art, smart plot twists and a lot of text.

The story follows a human that becomes a monster and has to deal with it to survive and archive his goals.
There are many series with a similar plot and comparing to other works of the same nature it lacks a lot in many aspects.

If you’re planning to read it I recommend reading chainsaw man and if you already did I recommend reading it again.


There are some good parts but they don’t compensate for the whole series. It takes too many chapters to get good. (Around chapter 63) and then it gets bad again and then good and then it ends.

For ... the most part it feels kinda generic. I wish the author had stuck with the psychological and abstract tone since the beginning.

The very end was not 14 volumes worthy and is a bait to the continuation labeled as :re.

What I particularly liked about it was the parts where the main character was hallucinating, the art in the final volumes and the Gourmet character, he’s so funny.

What I particularly didn’t like about it is that there are too many characters and random names introduced in the “CCG” organization that you don’t down who’s who and what is what and also sometimes you don’t even know who’s talking because there are many text boxes and they don’t point to whoever’s mouth is speaking.


I always wanted to read it since I got into anime and manga and it was a huge disappointment.

Besides the fact that it reminds me that hideous JoJo art-style sometimes… it has a solid animation and a well written plot.

The first episodes were kinda boring and I was trying so hard not to sleep while watching but later on it became enjoyable.
The main plot focus on the past of the characters in such smart way and besides having many cultured scenes it’s kinda touching…
The last episodes were kinda eh and it’s ending was vague, it probably continues in the manga.

Overall… I came here because of air gear (manga) and it has that same sprinkle of nonsense but oh..! great art. I kinda want ... to read the manga (mostly for the art) but yeah.
