Fist off, this is my first review, so please keep that in mind. I tried to express my personal opinion after just finishing the series as best as I could. I hope you are able to find it helpful!
I first noticed Charlotte whenever it first started airing and, thinking that it had promise, watched the first two episodes. The main character, Otosaka Yuu was presented as a boy who discovered he had the power to take over someone else's body for 5 seconds. He uses this power to mess with bullys, look under girls skirts, cheat on tests, and ultimately get the most popular girl

at school as his girlfriend all through manipulation. I was so aghast that this person, who seemed like a villain, was supposed to be our hero. But it really intrigued me. It was something different. Something that I hadn't seen in many anime, andI kept watching.
So, where did it all go wrong?
Story
There is sooo much potential here. The anime starts out simple happy-go-lucky and then takes a 180 and gets kinda serious. I can truthfully say that this anime's story impressed me in how it appeared to be a shallow story and turned out to be deep and complex.
However, there are just too many plot holes. I am left with many questions and confused on some of the main ideas still after finishing it.
Art & Sound
The art and sound are quite good. Both are consistent throughout the series, but I wouldn't watch the series for either of them. In my opinion, the art and sound were at their best in the opening theme song.
Character
May I just say that the character development of Yuu, the main character, was amazing. I also eventually came to like one other character, Tomori Nao. She was the only other character who we as an audience were able to get to know.
Every other character disappointed me. I know hardly anything about any of the other characters and frankly, didn't care about them that much. One thing that particularly annoyed me was the fact that they all accepted things so easily and blindly! Lets say that I told one of the characters that I am their long lost sister who has been in hiding for 10 years and I have the power to shoot light beams from my hands. They would accept it, welcome me to the family, and then give a cutesy smile...... No doubt. No crying. No Nothing. I wasn't able to ever see the vulnerable side of these characters and I got annoyed at how put together and seemingly passive they were.
My main problem with this anime, though, was the pacing. In my opinion, this anime should have been at least 20 episodes. It should have taken its time with the transitions between the different stages of the anime and I could have gotten to know the characters. At points I felt like I had wip-lash when the mood of the anime drastically changed and there was no explanation and yet, was blindly accepted by everyone. (Again a problem with the characters).
Overall, I tried desperately to love this series but there were too many problems. So, it was fine, a six rating. I enjoyed Charlotte and wish it the best.
