This show is somewhat of a hidden gem in the aspect that it seemed to find me when I hit a dry patch. Everyone goes through a time where they get stuck, and don't really feel the urge to watch anything. Ultimately, the only way anyone get's out of a rut like that is with a truly great show. To me, this is that show.
ReLife isn't anything extraordinarily new. The story is eye catching, and the first episode is absurdly well directed, but aside from that the show is what you would expect from a romance. The characters are fine for the most part. Our
...
two main leads really steal the show, and we never have a huge roster of characters, but I don't this this show really needed that. The art and sound are, quite frankly, forgettable.
So why do I hold this show in such high regard?
When you don't feel like watching anything at all, an extreme of too much or too little can be what turns you at episode 3. This show has a perfect balance. The story isn't groundbreaking, but it is interesting, and different enough. The characters have been done to death, but the settings that they are in feel fun, and keep you wanting more. The lesson is one we have seen time and time again, but the way it is conveyed is great.
So if you are like I was, give the show a shot. Maybe it will pull you out of the endless sprawl of anime and have you watching something again.
