I started off watching this and was quite confused but i was seeing some pretty cool stuff happen so I just let it keep confusing me. I realised about halfway through the show that I was focusing on the wrong things. Cid's background character antics distracted me a lot until I realised that is quite literally all they are. Background character antics. It's quite masterfully done. You're able to see complex character storylines and relationships that have almost nothing to do with our 'main character' Cid. We see the story as it surrounds a 'background character' and sometimes we get the real protagonist Shadow in
