I don't even know how you would write a comprehensive and detailed review for Mato Seihei no Slave, it's fucking anime titties. It's very good and isn't afraid to go all the way with its fanservice, oftentimes bordering on softcore porn.
The art is drawn beautifully, it's very crisp and nice to look at. The girls have different personalities and different body types so you're bound to have favorites. The good thing is that every girl gets attention.
I don't even remember the story. There are demons that attack Japan or some shit and in this world, women have superpowers while men don't. Which means our protagonist,
...
who is initially a weak dude forms a slave-master contract with a group of demon hunters and gains superpowers that he can utilize as a slave. After working as a slave though, as per the contract, has to have those demon hunter girls "service" him. So yeah.
Highly recommended

Despite starting off with an excruciatingly slow pace, 3-gatsu no Lion, after a certain point opens up and turns into a beautiful story about a pro Shogi player that's only a school student.
The characters are all likable, from the three girls of the Kawamoto family that's supporting each other against the cruelty of life, to the main character Rei Kiriyama that has always wanted a place that he belongs to. Even the many pro Shogi players that we come into the story through Kiriyama's career all have very detailed and engaging stories about their own circumstances.
Overall, I think the characters of this manga is what
...
I would call its strong point. Despite technically being a "Shogi manga", it's much more about "family" and "a place to belong" that everyone yearns for. It's not overly dramatic, and not overly childish either, avoiding many cliches and creating a mature life story. I'd recommend it to everyone, and think that the score of 7, "Good" is fitting for this manga.

This novel... I don't know where to start.
Now, after reading through from Vol.3 to Vol.7 in 2 days, I felt a vast amount of different emotions in so little time. Be it anger, joy, sadness or a sense of familiarity towards the characters, it was such a refreshing and pleasant to read LN. I am glad that this, as well as an anime adaptation of which I have yet to watch exists. You may be asking why vote 7, which is considered a below average rating here for some reason, but I think it can neither receive a lower, nor a higher rating than "Good."
...
With its good and bad points which I will talk about, "Good" pretty much justifies it better than any other score. Also keep in mind that I will not talk about the main outlines of the LN which are covered at the synopsis above, but some details you might want to know before starting to read. Thus, it will contain some minor spoilers.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, or KonoSuba has, I believe, a very character-driven story. The novel introduces a MC, a set of heroines, makes a chemistry between them and throws them around different events while you read their reactions, and are mainly interested in how they react. This type of style is not bad, in fact it is one of the main reasons why KonoSuba is enjoyable to read. Breaking down the elements:
- Story -
The story is basically what will happen when you decide to play Dungeons & Dragons with a group who REALLY knows how to have fun. Think about an adventuring party where the tank cannot do anything other than tank, a mage who can only cast a single devastating spell a day (and has an obsession about it,) a jack of all trades who is the tsukkomi of all the hilarious hijinks and a healer who is retarded. They run from one trouble to another, and you never get tired of it. The overarching story is something like defeating the final boss and returning the goddess to where she belongs, but who cares about that? After some time even the LN itself stops caring and has fun on its own. A bad thing? Certainly not.
- Characters -
Let me talk about the three girls accompanying the MC first. I should say, I am amazed at how interesting all of them are. Bless the mind who has come up with these three fictitious ladies. Aqua, a goddess who has been dragged to troubles and can't be treated like a goddess anymore is an idiot. The way she talks and acts without sparing a single thought to consequences spices up everything, and I love it. Megumin, as Kazuma says, a loli type character who leans more on the insane side. Like, her parents dropped her headlong at her infancy or something. And Darkness, a pervert and an open M with an eccentric personality. There is a wide range of different side characters, and while some of them (Vanir and Wiz combo) are just hilarious, others can feel like they exist solely to deliver fanservice, or some two dimensional and annoying people. Speaking of annoying, here is the first rage inducing element. Excuse me for being vulgar, but the main guy Kazuma Sato is a huge, majestic faggot. I have lost count on how many times I have been pissed of his actions. Seriously, this guy is such a bastard and an ill-natured person that it is possible to get amazed about why he, as the main character is written like this. He not only loves to badmouth his party members as a way to show affection, but is a completely undependable asshole in many situations. I wouldn't care if he were to be a bland self-insert character since that type is very much acceptable and normal as a Light Novel trope, but as you read, Kazuma will dance on your last nerve. Or not, maybe you will justify his actions because of what I am about to say in the next paragraph, but it is a fact that he is selfish as hell.
The other thing I mainly hated about this LN is the fact that these four party members treat each other like trash. It is unsettling when each of the girls talk shit about Kazuma for absolutely no reason, and he talks back with a similar attitude and they have a fight. It would have been better if they were more chill about stuff in my opinion.
- Art -
Considering the style of Light Novels, the art of KonoSuba is pretty neat actually. Liked the smooth illustrations of Kurone-sensei a lot. Characters are, what do you say, moe? Easy on the eyes, nice to look at. Close to the pinnacle of what 2D can offer. You catch my drift.
- Enjoyment -
When I finished the seventh volume, I was pretty surprised about how it was actually a ride I didn't regret taking. To not give spoilers, I couldn't talk about plenty of other reasons which prevented me from giving this a higher score, but if you become mentally prepared for characters acting spoiled from time to time, the flaws can be glossed over.
Overall, I can guarantee that you will enjoy reading this novel, despite it having many flaws and bad execution. I apologise if the review has become a wall of text after some point, I'm not used to writing them. ^^ Would I recommend KonoSuba? Yes, actually. Don't let the 7 rating bother you and go for it if you want to enjoy a nice fantasy comedy.

Now that an anime adaptation is currently airing, first three volumes which it will cover calls for a review! Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan is a slightly mediocre light novel that actually manages to be a more enjoyable read than most of the other similar LNs with a "Magical High School" setting that has been written more than enough.
Story starts when our newest contender of the plot device "I'm secretly very strong" character archetype Kurogane Ikki becomes roommates with the eccentric himedere heroine Stella Vermillion. The presented fictional world is a place where magic is a part of science, and they intertwine together. You know, when
...
what we call magic gains some scientific background, it isn't "magic" anymore, but hey, it makes a good setting for blending the coolness of magic and a modern feel.
In a high school that raises people with magical abilities, rank them based on their potential and calls them Blazers, Ikki has no place he belongs to. With his very weak magical capabilities, he is the "Worst One," honored with a rank F, lowest among the school and regarded as a disgrace to the knighthood. Instead of this burden making him suffer, with the help of a wise old man he accepts the challenge, trains himself physically to close the gap and becomes a deadly warrior with a chivalrous heart. It is inevitable that such a modest hero would capture the hearts of girls, and yes, his relationship with Stella develops into something romantic as the story progresses.
That's right. In spite of looking like a typical harem, Rakudai Kishi is a romance with decent action you can look forward to. The heroine Stella is such a splendid character that she takes the story slowly heading into the harem direction, and overthrows it to make a romance. Ikki is interested in getting stronger, and Stella is interested in Ikki. Although Ikki doesn't have the guts to date with the princess of a whole kingdom, with the help of Stella, romance develops. Now that's something you don't see in Light Novels every day. Other characters include Ikki's blood related sister with incestuous intent, a feminine male called Alice, skilled student council members and various decent antagonists.
Coming to the illustrations, most of them are ably drawn. Though, instead of emphasizing fights and important moments, it focuses on the ecchi part and shows you some breasts and butts. You know what type of reader the LN aims to reach, there's nothing to do about it. The good part of the illustrations are the ones showing the statistics of the characters, and telling their fight style from the eyes of a third party. The English translation at the BT didn't typesetted and translated most of the info, but it expresses the characters with pretty complicated kanji so to learn more about the characters you need to learn more about their vernacular language.
The enjoyment from reading this LN, like I said before, is great. The story isn't complicated, and pleasant to read through. Descriptions flows, and fights get your blood pumped to an extent. All that's left to discuss is to check if this LN also falls to the pit of "plot not being resolved." To be honest, after the first Seven Stars Sword-Art Festival Qualification arc is over there is a feel of the story being complete, but not at the same time. After this point, if you liked the novel, you would want more and wait for the volume four and onwards to get translated. If you didn't, you'll cut ties with it and and consider it complete. In both cases, I can give my guarantee that you won't be dissatisfied with the overall story. Not at the caliber of delicate pieces such as Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, this one is also a damn good LN, and deserves the very good rating of 8 even though I don't like overrating.
-Overall: Solid 8 in mean score, 8.8 with bias.-

Nowadays with Japan pumping up generic harem manga as if there's no tomorrow, in a possible scenario, when our rookie mangaka guy Kataoka-sensei was reading something like Rosario to Vampire, he saw a perfect once in a lifetime chance and said "What if the main guy was gay?" By gay, I don't mean uninterested in having sexual intercourse with the opposite sex like the majority of harem mc's, but literally gay, homosexual. Add hilarious facial expressions and you get this nice little one shot that is just great.
There isn't much to review, and the name perfectly summarizes what the plot is about. "I'm the Protagonist
...
of a Harem Manga, but I'm Gay so My Life Sucks" Yep, you guessed it right, it is about the daily life of a gay mc of a harem manga and his encounters with usual romcom situations you can only see in anime and manga. There isn't much of a story, it is a sloppy written satire of romantic comedy genre with the focus of humor. Speaking of humor, it is amazing. If this guy was in OreImo, the title would've been "My little sister really isn't that cute." Some girl is making advances to our guy, but he is gay so he makes up hilarious excuses. Repeat.
If you at least seen a couple of cliche harem anime/manga, what are you waiting for, read it!
