These two anime are similar because of the romance in both of them. The familiar of zero does have more romance, but they prove to be similar. Both main characters have a "familiar" (familiar of zero) or "servant" (fate/stay night) which is meant to be their companion. There is definitely some romance that goes on between them in both anime. Another similarity is that the main guy character does sometimes experience romance with other girls, not just their master/servant. Although it is obvious that their meant to be companion is who they are destined for. There is also magic in both anime, and the main has a special ability that is only noticed as a surprise later in the anime.There is more action in fate/stay night, and it is somewhat more of a thriller, while there is more humor in the familiar of zero. Another difference is that the main in the familiar of zero is a girl with a guy familiar, and in fate/stay night, the main is a guy with a girl servant. Both anime were very impressive and if you liked one, you will definitely like the other as well.
