Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite (About the movement of earth) takes place in the 15th century Poland and it's not actually about astronomy but humans.
It greatly depicts big aspirations, dreams and commitment whilst also contrasting it with a fragility of human life.
It reminds me of the 1st season of the "Shingeki no Kyojin" but stripped from fantasy elements.
The show is brutal, there are loads of blood, torture and death but if you have enjoyed the heavy feeling of SnK, You probably would like it too.
Also, the opening is an absolute banger and one of my personal favourites
But of course, no show is
...
perfect:
- There are quite a few historical inconsistencies.
- Most of the events takes place at night which does wonders in terms of the atmosphere and allows us to admire the beautiful sky BUT also makes it hard to see what's going on on the screen if you don't watch in a complete darkness.
- About halfway through the anime I just couldn't get myself to resonate with the characters as much as I did at the beginning. And to spite me even more, the character I liked the least got the most screen time. It felt kind of like they ran out of ideas for unique characters that people would want to know more about (also, the hairstyles started getting crazy) But You know what?
Turns out it actually made sense as I did gain sympathy to the girl as I watched more.
I would say that the quality of the plot is a parable where it started really high, gradually falling and then bouncing back up somewhere after 20th episode as the history came all together.
Didn't like the ending though, I truly loved Rafal's arc but bringing it back made me ask questions that have never been answered.
Overall I would rate "Chi. Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite" a strong 8/10
*Bonus points for trying to write in Polish, especially the Google translate Jolanta's letter which I found adorable*
