Well this one franchise I never thought I would give a positive rating. Let’s dive into the new SAO movie: Ordinal Scale.

The plot is much better handled than it was in the original. In the original, the issue with the plot was that it’s focus on Kirito and his complete badassery. We already know he’s going to win the fights, it’s only a matter of how. I was never worried that he would lose any significant fights, given his badassery. While this is nothing new, it makes SAO's battles seem overly dramatic. The movie on the other hand, focuses on how the game created bonds ... between the SAO players and its weight. It’s about Kirito having to fight against personal loss, something much more interesting for a character of his archetype. It also suits the setting much more. The game becomes much more serious and personal rather than being just another game for Kirito to win. It can focus on the game being a legitimate and epic struggle for our heros. It also helps that Kirito doesn’t start out as an op edgleord in this AR world, being the unfit gamer he is. If you have seen either/both SAO seasons, the main plot will nothing new. There are quite a few humorous moments throughout the movie. The ending is also quite fantastic. You don’t need to have watched the previous seasons of SAO to get them but it helps. Also make sure to stay for that juicy after credit scene.

Characters:
The main gang form SAO seasons one and two make up the majority of the cast in this movie. Kirito, Asuna, Sillica, Liz, Sinon, Klien,Suguha and Yui are all very much the same people they were in their respective seasons. However, with the focus of the movie being actual survival in this game, the characters are much more digestible. Asuna is the badass she was at the beginning of SAO S1 throughout the whole film. The new individuals in this movie are Eji, Yuuna, and Tetsuhiro. Eji and Tetsuhiro serve as our new antagonists. Their motivations are actually reasonable and logical, unlike kayaba's. Yuuna is our new idol girl, looking and sounding fantastic.

Sound:
This new movie does introduce a few new pieces by the returning Yuki and the new Lisa. Yuki Kardra’s pieces are reminiscent of her work in Fate Zero. Lisa's song "catch the moment" is a real treat.


Animation:
The animation is quite magnificent as expected from SAO. I saw it on the big screen and it looked amazing. Incredible detail and colorful palates illustrate every frame.

Enjoyment/overall:
I enjoyed this film quite a bit. It is a good step up from its predecessors in the franchise. It’s SAO done right without unnecessary or unrealistic drama. I’d recommend it to anyone who watched SAO. If it sounds like I’m calling this a masterpiece, you are mistaken. It still has all the same flaws that the original SAO had from the shallow and predictable plot to the straightforward characters. That being said, it still definitely worth watching due to the improvements in how the intricacies of the plot are handled and the grand spectacle it presents. You also don’t need to watch the first two series to enjoy this film. I give the movie an 8/10(3 points better than the first season of SAO).

Story: 7
It’s another slice of life that takes place in yet another High school. It follows the going ons of the literature club which is composed of five members. In the first episode, they suddenly acquire super powers of varying kinds. Despite its title, there are no major battles for the majority of the series. The most they use their powers for is to deal with mundane activities in some dramatic way. It regularly makes fun the tropes that come with this type of show through this fashion. It also has a harem plotline with our male mc at the center

The art ... is generic for these types of shows.

Sound: 8
There is not much music aside from the opening and ending. However, both of them are quite entertaining and catchy. They are worth experiencing alongside the actual episode each time you watch it.

Character: 8
The characters and their relationships are the real meat of the show. Our main character, Andou is a chibuni. As such, most the antics that occur often start with Andou. Everyone else more or less comes off as the strait people, reacting to these antics. The way they deal with each other is very humorous and cute. These interactions’ influence the relationships between all of them in an interesting manner.

Enjoyment: 8
I enjoyed this series a lot. It made me laugh regularly at its antics and look forward to the next episode.


Overall: 8/10
As a slice of life high school show, it really doesn’t stand out. What it does do exceptionally is its characters and their interactions. If you are looking for a funny, action packed show with a charming cast and catchy opening, this is for you.

As a medium, anime is EXTREMLY varied. There is every genre in existence like mecha/film noir, romance/supernatural, etc. One of these genres is Boku no Pico. It is essentially hardcore yoai child porn.

If you want something to fap to and are do not mind child porn, this is your show. Otherwise avoid it. Its not worthy it.

In my opinion, the classic 90s and below anime are full of charm. They are unique and represent a time when anime genres had yet to become grounded. They don’t need to adhere to any one principle to keep ones interest. Vampire princess miyu is no exception.

Story:8
It’s a compelling narrative that deals with life and death. What does it mean to be alive? is a major question that the show brings up each episode. The story is slow paced and places emphasis on subtlety. The action on screen is a quiet adventure.

Sound:8
The music falls into the mysterious and lively category. It serves the ... purpose of highlighting the mood effectively.

Art: 7
The art in this case is not really all that important. Its main role is to show the story. There are no long sequences that catch the eye through quick motion, only slow thoughtful approaches.

Character:9
Vampires and supernatural entities nowadays are bold or emphasized. In the case of the Vampire princess miyu, this cast is the opposite. Myu is vague and mysterious. You are given very little backstory on her. Larva is the same case. She and her minion represents the arcane in one of its best forms in this regard. The supernatural by nature can easily be beyond human understanding and comprehension. The spiritualist Himikio on the other hand, is very much the regular reactionary character. She is one of the more plain characters but still enjoyable to watch.

It’s quite the interesting take on the horror genre. It appeal boasts its mystery and atmosphere.

Overal:8/10
Highly recommended since its only four 25 minute episodes.
