This anime was garbage. However, it was so bad story-wise that it ended up being quite the treat. I approached this knowing that I would hate this because right off the bat the characters were rapey and stupid and cowardly. In fact there is only one reason that I gave this such a high score and that is because this anime was so awful. It was so bad it was absolutely hilarious. The end result, the voice acting, the urge to see one bitch get donkey punched.... all of it kept me wanting to keep watching. I even wish for a second season. Boy was
...
it a fun watch. The ecchi actually was not ever the top. The females were half naked but whatever. Kill la Kill was like that too, only it was far better than this and had a story. The only thing i would say this one needs is a little less rapey elements. If I want over the top sexual anime I would watch hentai. Decent watch. Really tagged inappropriately. Definitely a comedy. Turn your brain off just a tad and you will enjoy.

So close. I was so close to giving this a 6 or a seven. This anime even made me tear up, albeit a tiny bit at the relationship between Tora and Ushii. But dear lord that ending. The last 3 minutes made every cell that composes of my brain to immediately melt. This high-schooler with the chance to make 1 or even 100 wishes with which he could do literally anything on top of the fact that he has a pretty decent ability, wishes for.... lets play the guessing game. Was it perhaps to get 100 more of the wishes that could grant anything? Nah.
...
That wouldn't satisfy a human. 100 wishes pfft. So maybe it was to find love? Nah then it would feel fake. Oh I know it was to have the same power as the guy who could grant said wishes? Nah too big brain for that move. Ok ok then it must be to stop the Juuni Taisen from ever happening again or bringing back any of the decent characters? Nope nope nope!!!! That wouldn't be fair! Does a person have the right to be brought back just because they are good people? Perhaps not. (Dragon Balls eat your heart out) . Wow this kid must be a philosopher. Sp what does Mr. Wise do with this wish then? Oh lord almighty. He wishes simply to forget. Doesn't even say what he wants to forget either tbh. Just starts crying like a little bitch in front of God (I guess) and asks to forget... something. The fact that he has a wish to make? The Juuni Taisen? Well for me it would be to forget this shit anime. Then the girls comment at the end hammered it in even harder. "He looks like he doesn't have a care in the world". Blow me. This ending was just as bad as prison school's manga ending. Ugh. What utter garbage. Please avoid if you have brain cells left. I do not. I wrote this from the heart.
P.S the CGI is painful

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD
There was barely anything good about this one. The ending and the fact that it ended were the best parts. The last 3 episodes brought it from a 4 to a 6. The art was nothing to write home about. I liked the second op, but an anime's likability comes from bias. Frankly this is not my cup of tea. This is a recurring complaint, but I gotta say it: the anime starts off super slow. It took what felt like forever for the characters to get with the program. I understand it is a supposed mystery, but still it was like the
...
characters would not get a clue at all. There was basically no characters to like. The horror only kicked in in the last few episodes when we finally got to see some killings.
There were a lot of characters, but little to no development. The only character who got any type of real development was Natsuno and it felt a bit forced. Megumi was a bitch to the end. Muroi sucks. Felt trapped by the villages expectations and did not want to disappoint them, so he didn't care if they were killed. Nice. Great character. Real intelligent. Definitely won't forgive him for what he did in the end. Oogawa was that badass old guy. He did mess up in the end by talking rather than doing what he should have. Ozaki was a pretty good character. There was only one thing I did not agree with him that he did and if you watch you may figure it out. I think the character I hated the most was Tatsumi. He was way too cocky. Did he think he was invincible. 1 v 1 my man Oogawa.
I gave this a 6 because while I did not enjoy 80% of it, the brutality in the end was marvelous. Humans are so nasty when they feel threatened and it is truly a glorious thing. Plus most of it was self defense. Human's do not drink blood to live, that is why we kill what we eat. These things had no real reason to kill the humans they drank from. Create more shiki? Why? To fight for food? To have companions? That's just too dumb. If I were to kill something, I would expect something to kill me. "We kill to survive". What garbage. Any vampire anime says if you wanna survive you keep your food healthy too. The shiki got what they deserve. My advice is go into this knowing everyone is brain-dead, but the shiki are ultimately the bad guys.

My review this time is weird. How can I put a 7 in basically all the ratings, yet give the show a 9/10. I can only give the simple answer, which is my own bias. I always give mystery anime at least a 7. I genuinely enjoy a battle of wits and anything that has to do with intelligent characters and using their brains to solve puzzles really hooks me. The music didn't matter much. The art was very nice. The comedy wasn't milked dry and was appropriately placed. I did not expect much coming into this anime and honestly I forgot about the comedy
...
tag until I started watching. Very good splicing of different genres and is what I personally like from an anime. I could only give it a 9 or a 10. To be honest, while writing the review I am still thinking about giving it a 10.
Kotoko is the loli 19 year old in love with her senpai. She is also the Goddess of Wisdom. She is the Shiro of the anime basically. very intelligent. However, that is here the similarities begin and end. She obviously is not as smart as Shiro and is super outgoing and even kind of lewd (her first encounter with Saki she jokingly says that getting deflowered hurt more than the beam swinging Nanase). Her straight-forward and bubbly personality was a great thing for this anime as she never bored me when she was on screen. Best one in my opinion. She is more like Sora now that I think about it. Without the fear of people.
Kuro is mostly immortal. This really has not much to do with his character, but it does affect it. Circumstances of his childhood made him almost immune to pain and his reactions are kinda weak, but that also brings a bit of humor into some situations. Not a bad boyfriend for Kotoko even though she isn't his type.
Saki is Kuro's ex. She is a huge coward, but I supposed it can not be helped. Although I don't think her reason for being as fearful of Kuro as she is warranted. They dated for 5 years and she feared him after one instance of him healing? Kinda a sucky person, but she is extremely fearful of anything ghost related so it is kinda hard to dislike her, being the only normal person in this slew of nonsense.
I think this anime is for those who really like the genres it implores. It has all my favorite tags and it executed them well in my opinion. The romance aspect could be adjusted slightly, but everything else is fine. They didn't have strange comedic moments, mystery was well thought out, the supernatural was interesting, and the demons were eaten (figure that one out by watching). I say give it a shot like most things in life. Happy watching!

The 2020 anime experience has been 50/50 so far. My next conquest is Kyokou Suiri. Jibaku Shounen Hanako was a bit of a disappointment. I came in expecting to give it a 7 or an 8 and up to episode 9 I probably would have. It definitely started to lose its luster earlier though.
For starters it is a comedy that is trying too hard to have a story. Its not bad for there to be a plot in comedy anime, but the approach this takes is pretty bad. It was extremely confusing as to whether I should take the story seriously or focus on that
...
comedy tag. The tone and music is so out of place for some of the comedic scenes, yet because of the attempts to be funny I couldn't really get into the serious scenes because I would always think "that character is probably gunna say something stupid and ruin the moment". It would ruin the suspense for comedy which in turn destroyed the comedic aspect almost entirely.
The characters did not even belong in this anime to be honest. Nene was a waste of space. Her liking hot guys and having fat legs is her whole character. She also comes off as pretty selfish and, honestly, a bit dumb. We get she likes good looking guys, but then what makes her so special after that? Nothing. She doesn't seem to take most situations seriously and lets herself be led on just to be saved by Hanako.
Hanako is basically Superman Casper. Friendly ghost that's super powerful. An obvious exaggeration, but honestly fitting. He is very powerful and is honestly the best character in the show. Its always in shows like these that never show the interesting characters off. This season felt like an introduction of sorts, but they never introduced us to the boss of the sauce, Hanako-sama. We know what we can infer and whats been told, but they barely ever showed anything. He is the titular character, but daikon is the thing you will come to remember if you decide to watch.
The other character aren't even worth mentioning. Kou thinks Nene-senpai is cute and he wants to save his ghost friend who doesn't remember him. Kou's older brother is just that. Aoi tells Nene about the Wonders. The Wonders are mostly assholes.
All in all I was expecting a comedy and got a drama/fantasy thing. It tried too hard to be a comedy in a drama and fell flat. It wasn't the worst thing ever, but it was a bit annoying (especially Nene with the hot guys thing. THAT gets old REAL fast). I do not really like asking "but why" every 5 minutes because of dumb or strange decisions. However, I would watch if there was a second season. I have enough interest in Hanako and I am hoping I can get more of him. Weirdly enough with this anime you have to ignore the "comedy". Also I think Lerche should change a bit. Art is great. Animation is wonky. They should focus on it a bit more

This show was great. Definitely came out of it wanting a Ranka.
The MC is a tsundere and as much as I can't stand tsundere guys he is not that bad. There was only one time I disliked him and it was because he made Ranka cry pretty hard. Unacceptable. He doesn't like animals, but he knows a variety of facts about some of the most random ones, including marine life. I can tell he genuinely doesn"t like animals, but I guess even he can't resist a cute face all the time.
Ranka is cute pink-hair wolf-girl. She is beyond cute and very prideful. Most of
...
that pride is used for comedic effect, but she is a sincere sweetheart nonetheless.
The rest of the characters are truly just interested in cooking. Not much else to say since it doesn't really have a plot. It is mostly just for comedy and that alone would usually get a 10 outta me, but I think a 9 is fair. The comedy and cuteness were spot on. The tiny tension in the last episode is just comedic. Although you gotta feel bad for Hitomi. Always getting knocked out by apes XD. Enjoy the watch!

I think you can sum this up by two words. Bitch-chan. This anime is gross. Rapey vampires and an MC that is only sticking around to see where the plot will take her. Its sad. I tried to stomach it because the episodes are short but the unlikable characters made that far too difficult.
If you are a man and earnestly respect women do not watch. If you are a woman with a vampire fetish then watch Vampire Knight or something. The harem is smaller, but the plot is better and the characters aren't all disgusting. Its really an "enter at your own risk" type of
...
thing. Kind of like cutting open your head and serving your own brain to zombies. Kind of.

This anime is about 3 kids. 1 is like an upgraded version of Rika. And by upgrade I mean even more delusional, not better. He is in love with the supposed main character for some reason. The Main character is a masochist that likes to blame everyone for his shortcomings when he is the one to blame for having the temperament of a bob-omb. He almost literally explodes in fits of rage at the chuunibyou character. His indecisiveness makes him the most unlikable character in the show. Lastly there is the God of the show. He can hypnotize people with his eyes and read the
...
MC's mind. He always uses this to pick on the MC. I was gunna say the MC probably enjoys it, but after thinking carefully he has anger issues and the people picking on him are an intelligent being who knows his everything and a clown who wishes he were Rika but needs to be in a hospital.
That being said watching this is kinda like watching NTR. You wanna feel bad for the victim (the one who is being stolen) but you know at the end of the story they actually enjoy whats happening then you wonder why you felt bad and end up hating them instead. Its like "enjoy it or shut the fuck up and stop complaining". Its just annoying. Hope this review sheds some light on why this anime is currently 6.75 and not the 8 some people seem to think this garbage deserves.
Like everything it has its moments but overall what a shit show.
