slow start. I would say it wasn't enjoyable to watch for the first 5-6 episodes. They tried to make it funny but the comedy was just ... no, plz stop.
However, I liked one of the premises that being satisfied and happy with your life does not have to mean everything goes according to your plan, you can still enjoy your life from simple acts and the blessings of daily day life.
About the plot hole, there wasn't any IMO, there are many theories that explain the phenomenon, let's say.

Sexist. The writers do not know how to write female characters. All of the female characters have serious problems with them and they are certainly not treated as equals. The female lead asks her boyfriend's permission regarding her career. Miyoshi is mistreated by Tagaki soooo many times yet she does everything she can for them, i.e., cooking, cleaning, looking after them, etc.
There is a constant sexist tone throughout the whole series that ruins the show for me. For example, the "women cannot understand a man's dreams" line from season one. All of the female characters are either unreasonable or obedient to a male character, ...

This show gives so much Korean drama vibe. It's short and compact, there is no useless stuff to make it longer than it needs to be; nothing annoying with characters, or story is there. It is quite focused, more drama or comedy material could be involved but it is just not what the show was going for which is I believe short summer TV show vibes.
I wish it had more fillers and side stories because I loved the characters, but keeping it simple and focused has its own charms. Overall, it is a great show that is fun to watch. |
