I recommend this anime to anyone who likes music, coming of age bands, and girls being girls.
I really enjoyed Bocchi the Rock, the only fault I have is that it was only 12 episodes - how dare there not be more???
I would give it a 10/10, it was beautiful and the animation was very nice and clean. The music was fantastic. The girls were all great and I like the girls' bonding throughout the run. It was great to see such strong character development and realistic bonding in just 12 episodes.
You really believe these girls really liked each other in a genuine
...
way.
The depiction of anxiety, while played comedically, I think was very genuine.
It's hard to explain, but it was very well done. It felt very real. I've had severe anxiety many times in my life and it sometimes feels like you're turning into a puddle of ash, sometimes it feels like you could just crumple up and disappear.
And while Bocchi as a character grows, it doesn't mean she doesn't still have anxiety.
Many times in media, they treat things like anxiety as something you can just get over like it's just being shy, but it's not. You can be social, you can be extroverted, you can have all the friends in the world AND still have severe anxiety.
My favorite scenes were all the times where Bocchi really shines with her guitar. They were very satisfying to watch.
My favorite characters are Nijika and Bocchi. They were both very well done and it was sweet to see their friendship bloom throughout the series after Nijika forced Bocchi to join them. Nijika is just very caring and thoughtful, she's very leader and drummer - I really like her take charge attitude.
And Bocchi, how can you not love Bocchi???

It’s an anime of an Otome game about a girl moving in with 13 brothers (a doctor, a lawyer, a hairdresser, several voice actors, an idol, and more).
It‘s just a trashy reverse harem from the early 2010s. What is there to have expectations of?
Honestly it was really good and just fun.
The main character was really passive, but there were understandable reasons and she acknowledged her passive behavior by the end. I think it’s rare to see a female lead be that self aware. She was also really cute and had good chemistry with all the brothers. She also had interests and hobbies
...
other than just being the Main Character. She liked zombie and fighting video games, cooking, and was smart. She had a soft voice, but wasn’t just docile.
It’s a cast of 15, so obviously a lot of personalities. But of the 13 brothers, only one of them was like 🧍♂️ completely nothing character. Iori liked flowers. That’s it. I think he only had one scene with the other brothers (though he's really funny in the OVA), he's not bad at all.
They did touch on some serious issues and pains that a lot of growing people would go thorough like college, jobs, and familial conflicts. And they actually solved their issues instead of them just remaining unresolved issues.
I’m not really a big fan of just having one thing of magic in an otherwise grounded story and I think talking animal sidekicks can be often annoying - but the squirrel wasn’t bad. He was the protection squad with Louis and it was great.
Not really spoilery, but MC’s father needs a slap in the face. He left his adopted baby girl all alone and left her with abandonment issues that now she doesn’t know how to speak up from. I hate when there’s parental figures in anime or Tv and they are borderline abusive or straight up neglectful. But they are just treated as normal good parents. 👎😪
Every time they did something romantic I was like “YOURE (Step)SIBLINGS!!!”
But also… every time they did something romantic. I was like 🫣😳🫡 “kiss.”
This anime was very much “What are you doing Stepbro?” Energy. And I was straight SCREAMING at some point.
Would I recommend this anime? Only if you’re not gonna take it seriously. It’s pretty above average for reverse harems of the time and it’s only 12 episodes. If you like this sorta stuff. I recommend.
But man poor MC every episode starts with her saying “That’s what we are, siblings.” And every episode they ignore that completely. LMAO.
Favorite Brother: Natsume - he definitely had main character energy. He’s a game dev who doesn’t live with the others. He’s one of the triplets and has two cats named after his other two brothers. He had the best chemistry and a lot of great scenes. Also suits and muscles, best of both worlds.
Also Yusuke! Because he was probably the most believable though. He was also great 😭😭😭 he was her classmate before they became stepsiblings and always liked her. So they are sooo cute. And he just TRIES SO HARD. Such an earnest lad.

I'm between saying this has made me give up on anime or this is the best thing ever created.
If you wanna feel like you're on drugs for an hour and a half, pop this in.
Cause this will put you on a trip.
It doesn't help that mid way through there are like 5 minute credits and all of a sudden live action bits.
This could be a crazy fun drinking game that would probably kill you.
I regret being born.
...
I feel like my life keeps ending and ending and nothing real actually exists.
The soundtrack is amazing though.

Straight up - 10/10
A beautiful piece of work that needs to be watched, made by the same people as Perfect Blue and loosely based off the lives of two actresses.
This movies perfectly blends the real world, period piece movies, and fantasy all through the lens of a shouwa era actress being interviewed towards the end of her life. It revolves around a mysterious key and her quest to find a man she once loved.
Combines not only love and loss- but also humor, mystery, action and adventure. It’s everything that is brilliant about art and storytelling.
It is so beautiful that you will find yourself completely
...
enraptured every single second of screentime. You will be speechless and cry at the end.
Possibly the prettiest most heartfelt anime movie I ever watched and I've seen not only Your Name and Howl's Moving Castle, but also Batman Ninja.
So watch it and then watch it again.

We’ve all been bored in class before.
However seat neighbor Toshinari Seki is a mad lad and goes beyond the normal doodling or sleeping in the back of the class - this kid could find the cure for cancer or build a roller coaster without the teacher noticing.
And it drives his seat neighbor Rumi Yokoi crazy when she’s the only one who sees it!
Think this story as an alternate universe school version Phineas and Ferb.
Seki got Phineas's plans and Ferb's silence.
Rumi is 100% Candace just super unrelated to our main boy.
A really funny, really cute story of fun antics.
If you're ever just in
...
a need quick pick me up, just read a few chapters and you'll be feeling right as rain.

When art makes you feel something, it has accomplished is goal - even if it makes you feel uncomfortable.
This is an incredible psychological drama of a toxic relationship between mother and son.
Every line drawn and every word spoken has the ability to make you intensely on edge.
A compelling story that makes you want to continue no matter how much you also don't want to continue.
Warnings of Gaslighting, mental and physical abuse, blood, death, and some sexual themes.
If you are up for a story of this nature, check it out - but if you have been through abuse or trauma, maybe skip out
...
on this one.
I put a 5 for enjoyment, cause how can you really enjoy something of this magnitude? It's fantastic, but I don't know if I'll read it again and feel any type of happiness.
