A beautiful blend of medieval dark fantasy, conniving politics, psychological thriller, and teary jerking character drama with a little bit of comedy to help ease the emotional turmoil that this series will put you through.
This is a series that seems like a lighthearted misunderstandings comedy with a common set up, but don't worry, it is not what you might expect it to be. The series follow Deon Hart, the 0th Corps Commander of the Demon King's army, revered and respected for his strength and combat prowess despite being the only human within the demon commanders...except he got that position from luck. He's actually
...
the weakest human who simply was in the right place at the right time and now must find a way to escape the demon realm without causing suspicion.
This is how the story begins, but soon it unravels into a much deeper, more engaging mystery centered around Deon: his past, his real position, his motivations, his personal ties. What unfolds is a large-scale political power struggle between two ruthless tyrants, a tragic and gripping family history, a character who fools himself into thinking that he is fine despite being broken.
Story 9/10 -
the way the story is told is absolutely incredible. The information we are fed throughout the story comes in bits and pieces, each new revelation changes the reader's perspective entirely. Each flashback and action adds more intrigue and suspense as the story continues and twists and turns make the plot engaging throughout. One thing I will say is that world building is simple: you've seen it before, demon king, kingdoms, magic, fantasy races, etc. This story uses this relatively common world set up to go full throttle into its mystery, plot, and characters.
Characters 10/10 -
Deon Hardt is one of the most fascinating main characters I've ever seen. In just 75 chapters, the writer lays a bedrock of depth and complexity that only grows as more and more is revealed about him. To put it simply- he is a mess, but a beautiful one to watch. The cast has several stand outs besides Deon that are worth mentioning. Cruel - a newly recruited hero of the empire whose interactions with the mc make for some of the most intriguing character work in the series. Eduardo - the ruler of the Empire and also a man hardened and suffocated by his seat on the throne. And Carver, the charismatic demon king who is both cocky, but viciously intelligent. These characters do not feel comically dumb and their actions seem genuinely accurate to their characters instead of actions simply taken to progress the plot. They feel well rounded and multi faceted, like really people going through real issues
Art 10/10 -
The art is vibrant and clean. Panels melt off the page and the facial expressions are quite striking. The paneling is also very well done and does well conveying emotion.
Enjoyment 10/10 -
I was hooked from the beginning, but I didn't realize how much I absolutely adored this story until I was a crying mess by the end of it. Season 1 blew me out of the water and I have no doubt season 2 will do just the same. Please give this read a try!

Solo Leveling is a series that knows exactly what it is, a hype power fantasy about a boy who "solo levels" from the weakest to the strongest, surpassing everything and everyone with flashy fighting and satisfying gore.
Its title should tell you all you need to know about the plot and its developments, but for anime onlys, know that you will get exactly what you are expecting, nothing more nothing less. As power fantasies go, this one is pretty damn good. The plot unfolds exactly how you might expect it to, with very little twists. The main character isn't particularly unique or interesting, but is your
...
typical underdog struggling forward to get stronger and make money for his sick mother. None of the side characters are really essential to the plot and are vastly overshadowed by the main character. The set up the world follows your typical portal reverse isekai RPG dungeon tropes with monsters coming to the real world through "gates" which are basically dungeons for "hunters," aka the superhuman fighters of this world, to go and clear for rewards such as magic crystals and better equipment etc.
So......what makes Solo Leveling work?
It takes all these tropes and uses them almost perfectly. Yes, the plot is generic. Yes, the main character is a complete self-insert power fantasy protagonist. That doesn't stop this show from being one of the most entertaining, slickly animated, deliciously gory, and greatly satisfying watches in recent anime.
I'm very impressed with the way A1 Pictures is going about adapting this series. They are folding more of the characters into the plot sooner which will make the transition to their introduction more seamless and connected. The pacing is also quite even which helps to quell my concerns of a rushed story like they did to previous manhwa adaptations such as God of Highschool and Tower of God. So far I have hopes that this adaptation will capture the same hype that the beautifully drawn manhwa did and introduce this massively fun journey to a new and broader audience.
If you're looking for deep philosophical themes, character depth, and complexity, this show's probably not for you (maybe try something like Omniscient Reader instead).
If you simply want a nice digestible show that's easy on the eyes and is just an all around good time, look no further.
Extra shout out to Hiroyuki Sawano and TXT for an absolute BANGER of an opening. LEveL is constantly stuck in my head and also gets me hopelessly excited to watch each and every episode of this series. I've been playing it on a constant repeat!

Out of the countless regression manhwas I've read, this is one that has a genuinely interesting plot and multifaceted characters. The world building is fairly strong and the reasoning behind the main character's regression makes sense in context of the power system. This story uses many of the same elements from other manhwas in the same realm (your typical magician classes, imperial hierarchy, medieval fantasy setting, magic towers etc), but the interactions and conflicts between characters are refreshing and quite complex compared to other stories in the same vein.
One of the strongest elements of this manhwa lies between Ian's relationships with the two princes
...
of the empire. In his past life, he was betrayed by his best friend, the 5th prince Ragnar. After he regresses back in time, Ian seeks to take revenge on Ragnar and personally see to his death. Ragnar is probably one of the best written characters in the series and a fantastic antagonist with unexpected depth to his personality and motives. He is a great villain to hate and drives the revenge plot forward. The crown prince Hayden is a very loveable character who is quite unlike his coldhearted, logical brother. He is kind hearted and playful, but lacks the public speaking skills and political strategy to gain support throughout the kingdom. The dynamic that Ian has between these two characters is really what had me invested in the series and the resolution to this plot point was quite satisfying and well done.
However, I do have some gripes with the ending since many of the characters who had very little time together throughout the series suddenly developed relationships without any build up. It felt a little rushed most likely because the series was coming to an end and the author tried to mold their characters into a place that would seem conclusive without giving the time or emotional commitment that it actually takes to get there.
Overall, in a genre that is littered with unremarkable rehashes of the same over done tropes, "The Return of the 8th Class Mage" does little to separate itself, but at least the characters are genuinely interesting, the writing is pretty good, and the story continues to be engaging! I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and I would recommend it if you're looking for a well written regression manhwa with a fun cast of characters.

Damn, like what can I really say about this series at this point.
reading Omniscient Reader is like a magic trick.
At the start, you are a confused audience member who is staring at awe as something that shouldn't be possible. As the story/act progresses, information is given in small crumbs until the whole magic trick unravels. Once you finish the book, you see the whole trick, but you can't recall how it's done after a while.
When you reread, you see all the plants for the trick and it begins to click in your head, and you begin to recollect more and more as the magic goes
...
on. You catch the foreshadowing sprinkled throughout the manhwa. For the information that passed right over your head on first read through, you now see the crucial importance of it all and understand the actions and decisions of certain characters more. Whilst knowing how the trick is done, you are enjoying watching the magician do it. You lose no enjoyment just because you know how it works, and you're still entertained to see it unravel slowly.
By the end of my second read through, I'm left with one question: how tf do you even pull off a story like this?
story 10/10
I imagine the authors when writing this were like.....hmmm I like this aspect of this story, but wouldn't it be cool if there was a character with this ability as well? Oh sh*t, I also wanna add a little bit of time travel cause that stuff’s spicy. Damn, but I really like Greek Mythology, but also Korean Mythology. We definitely need to add like stars and universes and celestial beings and all that jazz. For that matter, I like twitch streams and video games too. What about like monsters and floating fairy demons that look like furry pacman ghosts with horns and stuff?
F*ck it, we're using EVERYTHING (I mean literally everything) and we're gonna make it work
.....And it works.
Characters 11/10 -
I didn't expect the main character, Dokja, to be so...interesting? During the introduction of his character, you think he's your typical loser loner weeb, who reads web novels all day, and he is! but he's also...not? As the events of the story begin to unfold and the web novel Dokja has been reading for the past 10 years becomes a reality, Dokja does a 180. He becomes cold, calculating, scheming, and sometimes I question whether I should even be rooting for him (at least in the beginning chapters). Also the character development and backstories we get on Dokja are genuinely shocking and add a lot of depth to his character. His character development through out the series is beautiful and I found myself rooting so hard for this guy to the point every arc drove over my heart with a 10 ton semitruck.
And it's not just him. Yu Junghyeok, the protagonist of the novel Dokja was reading, is also a fascinating character who gets a lot of development. I won't go much into his character since I don't want to spoil anything, but just know that his dynamic with Dokja had my eyes glued to the page, consuming each chapter like popcorn. Han Sooyoung is probably one of the best written female characters in a action/fantasy story that I've come across in general. Again, it is so hard not to spoil anything, but just know that she is a delightful addition to the chaotic trio of Omniscient Reader.
And it's not just the main characters! Even the side characters play a large role in the actual story and are genuinely well written and complex. Characters that you don't even think are essential to the story get care and time provided to flush out their inner workings, flaws, strengths, and ideals.
Enjoyment 11/10
This series had my brain in a knot and my eyes glued to the page throughout all 551 chapters of the novel as well as the chapters of the manhwa that are released weekly (currently there are about 117 chapters of the manhwa). A warning for the faint of heart, this series will probably emotionally scar you. I can still feel the ORV angst even after several months from finishing the epologue. It is both my comfort series and the series that causes me the most depression. I hope this series will get the appreciation and love it deserves and I hope that you will also have as much of a blast as I did while reading it!
I recommend starting with the manhwa and then switching over to the novel if you are hooked (that's what I did). The start is good, but the arcs only keep getting better and better as the series goes on until you reach masterpiece level. Have fun reading!
P.S. I wrote this review of the ORV manhwa's page before the novel was added to the sight

So I didn't have any expectations going into this webcomic because I knew it was more of a side project/collaboration project with a band, but I still gave it a shot. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! This comic really has a lot of potential.
Story 7/10 -
The story follows 7 different characters, who all have different circumstances and back stories and their fateful encounter with each other in a world that is threatened by these tiger-like monsters called Beom. These seven guys form a team to fight against these monsters and protect humanity. The plot is simple, but gets the job done.
...
There is an immediate sense of threat and urgency which drives the main characters forward.
Art 9/10 -
God damn, REDICE Studio does not miss! I mean what would you expect coming from the same studio who adapted Solo Leveling and Omniscient Reader? The art is gorgeous and dynamic. All the character designs are very cool and the beom designs are even cooler.
Characters 8/10 -
All the characters have different personalities and backgrounds. They also have a pretty fun dynamic with each other. I like how the beom also has varied personalities and morals. It makes them seem more realistic instead of just having them be evil villians that the main septet have to destroy. There are only 12 episodes released so far, so it is difficult to get much character development done in such a short amount of time, especially with the huge cast of characters that the webcomic has already introduced, but there is a lot of potential for this story to really develop these characters more in the future.
Overall I'm really enjoying this series. There is nothing particularly mind blowing or out of the box about this series, but the premise is unique enough and the characters are likable and have interesting interactions with each other. If the story develops well, I could see this series becoming really strong. It's a very good start with a lot of potential!
P.S. I want to give a shout out to episode 4 with the soundtrack that was made. The song is a banger and it's very cool to see a band utilize the music that is allowed on the webtoon platform in order to make a theme song for their own manhwa. I'm excited to see how this crossing of mediums can be utilized in future webtoons!

This is a really really good read.
Story 8/10 -
There are two types of people who possess strange powers in this world: villians, who are children of the night and psykers, who are children of the day. Cassian, our protagonist, is a top class psyker who gets killed off and reincarnates as a villain. He seeks revenge on his killers, while trying to navigate life as a villain to society.
The plot starts off very strong, with an interesting twist to the hero/villian set up you would see in something like MHA. The story continues to be very entertaining and engaging throughout the story's progression.
...
The cool thing is that we get to experience the story from both the point of view of a hero/psyker and from the point of view of a villian. Cassian tries his best to live as a villain, but still retains his sense of justice and wants to help people which is confusing for the other characters in the story, but very entertaining to view as a reader. As the story progresses, we get to meet many other psykers as well as villians and we realize that the lines between good and evil are much grayer than they seem. Just because a character's a villian, doesn't necessarily make them evil, and just because a character's a psyker doesn't necessarily make them righteous.
Art 9/10 -
The character designs are so slick and awesome looking, especially our main character's villian form and also Driver's villain form. The fight scenes are immersive and the color is very vibrant and well placed. Overall the artwork is very pleasing to the eye and is actually one of the first things that drew me into reading this manhwa.
Characters 8/10 -
I am a huge sucker for anti-hero stories, but the protagonist of this manhwa, Cassian, is a little different. He is sort of an anti-hero, but leans more on the side of good. The only problem is that society has labeled all villains as evil criminals, so no matter what Cassian does, he's always vilified (literally). Cassian as a character is level headed and smart and overall a solid character. The rest of the cast are also interesting and have their own goals and ideals. My only gripe about the characters would be that there aren't that many strong female characters besides Crow, but it's not necessary for every story to have strong female characters as long as the story can continue to be engaging.
Enjoyment 9/10 -
I had a blast reading this series and waited at the edge of my seat for every episode to release. This story is such an entertaining read and hits all the right points that kept me hungry for more chapters. Season 1 is currently completed and left off after a very interesting arc so I'm very excited to see where the story will go from there. Once this series returns, I'll be the first to jump into season two with two bowls of popcorn ready.

A typical power fantasy story where the MC is op and the plot is pretty generic. I mean, it's not a terrible read and the story actually started off decently, but the chapters failed to keep me engaged or invested in the characters. I enjoyed the comedy aspects of this series, but that's where my enjoyment stopped.
The art is good, but nothing monumental. The characters are mediocre and forgettable and follow common anime tropes.
As for my enjoyment, I liked the series at first, but I found myself struggling to continue reading as I got into the later chapters.
In conclusion, is Manhwa a
...
waste of time? Maybe
I'd give it a couple chapters if the premise sounds at all interesting to you. It may not be my cup of tea, but there's potential for some people to at least mildly enjoy this manhwa

For someone who occasionally reads romance novels, but doesn’t seek them out, I was casually scrolling through webtoon when I came across this series and decided to give it a go. I don't regret it one bit!
The story follows Jieum Ban who is someone who can remember her past lives. In one of her lives, she befriends a little boy named Seoha, but she ends up dying in a car accident. In her next life, she sets out to meet Seoha from her past life using all the skills she developed from her 18 other lives.
The art is pleasing to the eye and doesn't distract
...
from the story. Jieum as a character is very witty and cunning which makes her a very entertaining character to follow throughout the story. Seoha is also a very interesting character. He was in the same car as Jieum and suffered a sever head injury from the accident. He has a very straightforward yet warm personality that makes him a very likable character.
Overall, all the characters are very well written and the plot is also intriguing and entertaining. If you're looking for a very good romance/supernatural/mystery manhwa, I would highly recommend this one!

Saying that this was a joy to read honestly feels like a huge understatement.
The story follows our protagonist, Jiwoo, who is a kind-hearted cat lover and our second main character, Kayden, who is an egotistical secret agent stuck in the body of a cat. I really don't want to say much more since the story is best experienced blind.
The art is consistent and the fight scenes are very well choreographed and easy to follow.
The characters and their dynamics with each other are some of the most fun parts of this story. Jiwoo is so wholesome and his positive energy is infectious. Kayden is the
...
complete opposite of Jiwoo, but also the perfect compliment to his personality. The other characters are just as entertaining. The characters also receive a lot of development as the story progresses and their friendships strengthen as new opponents are introduced.
The comedy in this webtoon had me wheezing and smiling like an idiot, but the story can also pull off emotional moments as well as more serious moments. The action scenes had me as excited as an overly hyped youtube reactor. I was thoroughly entertained throughout every chapter. Just read it. There is a reason that it's one of the highest rated series on the webtoon platform with a rating of 9.9

Being a huge fan of the author's previous work, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, I instantly jumped to read this series and have been following its chapters as they are released. I have not read the light novel, so this review will be based on the manhwa only.
Think of the tower from SAO, but there's multiple of them and they appear in major cities all around the world, along with giant monsters that wreak havoc on humanity. Select people from each country, known as Tower Walkers, are summoned to complete all 100 floors of the tower in order to save humanity from the monsters.
Then things start to
...
get interesting. The story quickly introduces an item called a "Stone of Regression'' that can be found in the tower. These stones allow the user to regress in time and restart from the beginning of the appearance of the towers so that one can fix their past mistakes. The protagonist, Jaehwan, loses comrades either by death or regression, but still chooses to continue his climb, vowing to protect the present timeline no matter what.
I'm having a fun time reading this series so far. The art is jaw droppingly gorgeous and the story is pretty captivating as well. The big twist that is introduced in chapter 5 is pretty unique and makes me excited for the future of the series. So far, the characters haven't had much character development, but they are still enjoyable. If you're looking for a good power fantasy with some interesting plot elements, I would recommend trying at least the first 5 chapters of this series to see if it's something you might enjoy. It isn't on the same level as something like Omniscient Reader, but it is quite a fun read. I'm interested to see how this story develops!
