Erased Review.
The highlights of this series.
Erased has many positive features such as it has a captivating and intriguing story line, originality of concepts and the story contains interesting, but relatable paradoxes within the main character. In its manga, originally by Ken Sanbe, Sanbe included unlikely fictional aspects, such as giving the main character the power the change the past, but also creates a very realistic, down to earth town, and a character with a realistic living environment and personal struggles. The character holds these realistic versus fictional character attributes, yet has revealed, every day human flaws such as the fear of self-expression; making

the character relatable to our own lives. The commonness of the environment and character’s life experiences, including many emotions that could be considered depressing, can be seen in the first episode of the anime but the gritty realism does begin to dwindle and the series progresses, especially in the last few episodes, but still remains in the background for the overall series.
The negatives of the series.
Erased is not an all perfect package, especially in its plot. At times the story is quite thin and the outcomes quite predictable. One downside is that it can be very easy to pick up who the murderer, especially the first time when Satoru goes back into the past. This predicability and obviousness removes the suspense in the series and leaves you watching on knowing already who the killer will be taking the “caught you” punch out of the story when the killer is finally revealed.
Another downside to the series is the last episode, which overall was very unrealistic and lost it’s special quality of being down to earth and relatable to regular life events we all know; most especially at the very end of the last episode when they tricked the killer.
Conclusion.
I would say that Erased is an anime series that is a must watch for people who are interested in horror and mystery. The Erased series touches a pond of many realistic human emotions that are often left out of many mainstream animations; these could be depressing subjects so I do commend the creator for including these character aspects and struggles, the studio and the publishers for airing and creating this anime intact.
