Both shows are great fast-paced fantasy comedies with a male-female pair of main characters. Both also have video game-inspired visual and narrative features, and each also feature a quickly-moving plot that sees our protagonists visiting lots of different locations.

Both shows feature adorable little princess girls in a fairy tale world who use all sorts of magic during a journey to rescue their parents who have been petrified by an evil Lord. Also, both have that great 90s anime kids' show aesthetic~

So you like how Lucy Heartfilia has a bunch of spirits with wacky personalities who help her out and stuff, but you really wish Lucy was a little girl and also a princess with attitude problems? Perfect, go watch Yume no Crayon Oukoku.

Plot? What's that? Story structure? Never heard of it. Fourth wall? Who needs it? Behind each show's art styles and settings, these are stories about a group of young women who pass the time playing silly games and talking about the weirdest things. Both shows also have very interesting (and in my opinion entertaining) approaches to absurd visual comedy.

There is a lot to differentiate Pop Team Epic from Colorful, but at their core each show has the same comedic essence. Explicated better, both these shows are skit comedies that rely on drawing in viewers with their variety of lightning-fast comedic moments. Both shows feel like the kind of hectic Internet humour often found in YouTube videos.

Oshiete! Galko-chan

Oshiete! Galko-chan has become well-loved by parts of the anime community for its efforts to demystify and normalize normal parts of the female experience, but I think it's important to remember that Kyou no Asuka Show was doing many of the same things 4 years earlier. While Galko-chan took a broader approach towards dismantling female stereotypes, Asuka Show specifically examines the sexual tensions men experience concerning women, and through its main character these tensions are presented as ridiculous and unnecessary. Of course both shows have a sexually-open blonde-haired main character, and I'm sure that for some viewers that will be enough of a similarity to make a persuasive recommendation, but the similarities between these shows are deeper and more significant than just some surface-level visual similarities.

Both are Chinese animated series about a young male dude with a special ability that makes him especially capable of solving crimes. Both have some pretty fun fight animation too!

While there are many differences in execution between these two shows, at the core, each show is a celebration of the fighting female butt. Both shows also have the good sense to be absolutely ridiculous and a little bit raunchy.
