This just such an empty show. 
It's not a farming or village/civilization building simulator -there is insignificant realism; everything is rather superficial.
It's not a character/drama show -they are all rather shallow cutouts and act as little more than a random NPC.
It's not about crafting an interesting setting/story as the worldbuilding/plot thus far is no more (if not actually weaker) than what you find in the multitude of generic isekai and fantasy shows that get churned out every year.
There isn't even much of those 'feels' and 'vibes' that draws many to 'slice of life'.
Every obstacle or potential problem is pretty much just ignored, or hand waved away ... (even without having to invoke the god lvl cheat farming tool).
I have only been able to watch 4 episodes; so there is always the possibility of some drastic about face but I doubt it, so this isn't so much a review as much as it is a warning: 
Take the ratings and reviews with an especially big sack of salt (selection bias), if you are hoping for anything significantly much more than a low tier harem fantasy or a 'H-series without the actual H' -you are probably going to be disappointed.

I came into this blind -having never watched the original series or even read a synopsis.

The premise (of being relegated to living on dying planets) is quite good even though it is illogical given the super advanced science and technology on display.

The movie has really good visuals and passable OSTs; normally that would usually make for a good watch but the monumentally stupid plot and incredibly awful, trope riddled characters ruined any chance of enjoyment for me.

I won't say to skip it but if you are going to watch it -have low expectations for everything but the CGI to mitigate disappointment.
