Rimuru was really cute here, but story is really dragging it down. Especially the ending where asspull after asspull happens and yes i do mean even more of them than is normal for anime and it is like next tier of asspulling that does say "no asspulling will be asspulled" and then asspulling happens and helps in asspulled ways. Sad moments ended up being completely comical because of this. I ended up giggling when another tragic thing happened knowing what is going to happen next. And the power scaling made it really weird and unbelievable, so the ubergod rimuru in this movie can eat
...
sun, summon and command equivalent of god, teleport army but at the same time can not walk faster than me (and i'm not walking champion) or catch up to normal railcart. We are talking about character that uses teleport every few minutes in the series(and here too) can fly faster than u can see and stuff like that. I do not know if he is meant to be portrayed as the actual villain in this story that watches suffering for fun, but it gave away that exact impression. You know those animes where there is god-tier character that can wink to destroy moon and fart to recreate universe (highschool misfits) that hide their powers to stay anonymous. Well this was much like it, except there is just no motivation behind hiding his powers, only plot convience after plot convience. He does reveal his power level twice and even tells people that he is demon lord now, so truly that has nothing to do with it. There was not even attempt at something like "uh oh the teleportation magic really drained me, i lost 99.999% of my power and now i reach maximum speed of crawling grandma" Or "uh oh he has kryptonite" even something as old as superman at least tried to pull out some explanation behind those events. This story did not even try to make any sense.
This next point is not super important but does tie in with the power-level indecisiveness and plot convience:
Rimuru also has those full heal potions in this movie he is holding them in his hand at one point, but for some reason gives people honey instead that barely recovers them after 2 months of eating it, but i could at least make up some explanation for that, for example that honey is antidote that also slowly heals and ehm for some reason antidote+full heal would cause negative effects. Which makes no sense but lets just say that is magic. But in fact that was the case just so some scenes can happen at all. Which has the simplest solution: do not show the full heal potions in the movie, the potion did not even get used so showing it was not needed for story. Lets say that you get poisoned in game, full heal potion heals u to 100% but you are still poisoned, and that is fine but it DOES heal you to 100% first. So healing quickly instead of slowly would not change the plotdevice that was used to cause this situation. It just made rimuru look like villain again, offering just the bare minimum to help people which is theme of this whole story.
If i was to bring up what he can do in the anime series or manga, i'd spend next 3 days writing this review. You can isolate this movie as its own thing and use only what is in it and it still makes 0 internal sense and offers no explanation for anything.
It was still really cute and entertaining if you are willing to turn off your brain completely, so I leave it with rating of 7. Sound was good, animation was good, rimuru was cute and i really like rimuru and rimuru was quite cute.

I could not understand how can so good looking anime score only 6 points, but now after watching it, it became completely clear to me.
You could make story that makes less sense with worse development and less likeable characters that never make any sense only if you hired ex-twitter workers and asked them to write their biography. To invest 11 from 12 episodes in to the worst character this series has (girl of cold powers that never makes anything likeable but people unreasonably risk life for her and everyone says nice things about her for no reason) For example she will say" You

suck and i hope you die" and then character will say "What she meant is that she loves you and wants to marry you" bullcrap! And she never even talks to people that reinterpret her shit as the nicest thing ever. It is total stranger for them but universally everyone likes her, even catgirl that is hated by her for being catgirl(literally racism) does say nice things about her and risks her life for her...
I give it 4 points for nice art and fine music. But for story and characters it would get 1/10

Just finished this one, and It is been a while for something to give me such mixed feelings. I want to call it great, it had all the themes you'd need for it, it even had fine music and art. But it was executed quite poorly storywise and it feels fake. Sure, all anime is "fake" as in fiction, but this had unbelievable characters and no internal consistency. Each character is like "I m max and i only shout NO" one dimensional af.
The only character that ends up anywhere close to believable is side character that is|| your average cool guy with katana||
I'd
...
recommend it for it is short watch (less than 2 hours) but gosh

This is show that I really wanted to love, because I liked the cute MC and his white haired girlfriend. First few episodes were actually really fun and would get higher rating from me. It has ok magic system that depends on how well spoken you are, lets call it charisma based magic i guess, something known to DnD fans. MC's magic is used rarely and most often for very boring stuff in actual fights: "make me faster aka accelerate"
meanwhile he is estabilished as spellcaster god that actually fought god and won, kills dragon few days later and few days after that struggles vs lowest
...
level monsters while being stronger than in the god fight because he has god's protection at that point. So power levels are not the reason to watch this. MC is basically weak pleb that could be killed by baby even in full group of support whenerever they want and strong solo god killer whenever they want.
But that is nitpick that could be said about almost if not all isekai stories... It does not affect my rating. What affects my rating is the shallow, horrible character writing after the "family" episodes where MC leaves them for great adventure, that is all about "tell do not show" If this was audibook it would work i guess but it is not. And every discussion is so NPC like. "Well hello there traveler" "Hello there mister vendor" "I was attacked by beast" "I see mister vendor, how many and where to kill" "Forest of newbies bring me 10 wolf pelts" this is how every talk feels like. Especially last episode was like reading something from someone that never had talked to real human before but only played the cheapest indie mmorpgames.
If this was made in superhero cartoon style by american studio i'd be honestly rating it 3/10 at best. But I'm target audience for cute girly anime characters so I'll leave it with 7/10 i rate anime based on the season it was in mostly and that helps this one a lot because there were only few better shows in this season to name few: Assassin aristocrat, Ousama Ranking, Kaizoku Oujo(mostly because of art), World Trigger, Mushoku Tensei. And yeah i'd recommend any of those to anyone over this one but it was still more enjoyable than bad, so i'd say give it a go and see for yourself.

After watching part 1 (which i rate 4/10) I had no hopes for part 2 to be any good, but actually it was really enjoyable and got 8/10 from me. Gosh I wish that they would do one 2h movie instead and spend the budget more evenly, for there was not enough story to be told and neither there were enough fights, or long fights to fill the empty air.
The biggest downside i can list is how rushed the fights are, and there are really not many of real and animated fights (3) other fights serve just plot progression and are meant to be

wholesome moment like "oh you punched me, now i realized wrongdoings of my ways and i will help you which happens 2 or 3 times" I actually do not mind that outsourcing led to some very strange animation moments(like naruto vs pain fight style where characters grow 15m long arms and make weird faces), it does add some style to it and I actually liked those moments.
Some fan favorites like king's son(i will not tell you who that is) fights for just few seconds(less than some no-name walking armors when not counting time spend by the characters shouting pokemon names to activate ultimate ability) ,amy other fights are barely animated. But it was all much better than part 1 where they would just show sword and then finished fight not animating anything at all.
Where part 1 was lazy and badly paced, part 2 was actually well paced(it was end-heavy but it is one of proper ways to reach climax and make people leave with memorable last minutes of movie) Character stories were well revelead. Sadly the conclusion itself does take away from this climax but to avoid any ammount of spoilers I will not mention why.
