The first bit of information we get is that aliens saved the planet, Earth (allegedly since one of our characters thinks it was staged), and at least 17 million aliens live in Japan. Our main character, Nomamoto, a 17 year old girl, hates aliens, even the ones that did no wrong, and says that she wants them all dead. Her boss doesn't pay as much as she wants and she doesn't working under his conditions (such as working with no A/C in hot weather), and now she generalizes and hates all aliens. Then comes, Kitami, who also discriminates against aliens and ridicules an alien (the
...
boss) not speaking the same language... He also wants aliens gone (Should be noted that the alien boss bumped Kitami with his elbow, but was clearly an accident since the alien boss was not facing in Kitami's direction). Kitami's family was revealed to be killed by an alien in a car accident (possibly drunk driving) so now Kitami generalizes and hates all aliens. Then Nomamoto and Kitami work together to cover up the evidence of a hate crime, where Kitami beat an alien to death for "hitting" Kitami (unclear whether the alien hit him on accident or on purpose). Kitami feels no remorse for the incident since he doesn't "see them as people." Nomamoto and Kitami then chop up the alien's corpse and Nomamoto eats him as part of the cover up. Since Nomamoto finds out she likes the taste of cooked aliens, Kitami suggests that he continues to murder random aliens while Nomamoto eats their dead bodies to cover it up, in hopes that they can eventually genocide the alien population within their city.
Now that we've got that info out the way, let's talk about general aspects. First, off, the first chapter of this manga doesn't mean the manga is racist, it's just boring 😂. Both of the named characters in the chapter are just "I hate all of X because some of X did terrible things to me." They happen to bump into each other leaving work and by the water and happen to share identical opinions. Lame. Apparently this is also a comedy manga. The peak comedy in this chapter is an overused gag of aliens hitting people on accident leaving our characters with nosebleeds. Other than that, any other "funny moment" in this chapter must be so vapid it can't be recognized as joke. The art is pretty mid. The best way it can be described is chainsaw man mixed with Jujutsu Kaisen and Doron Dororon leading to characters with unappealing faces and bad background art. First chapters of manga are important for the establishment of the plot moving forward. So what do we have? Our characters want to murder and eat aliens in their city. Some things can happen from here. One, the characters stay on this path and get into a repetitive cycle of killing people with no motives, which is just boring. Two, the author changes the boring plan to something else down the line and redrafts the characters to actually have more interesting goals.
So the plot starts off lame, the character's are vapid, the art is mediocre, and the comedy doesn't hit. What is the redeeming quality? The author still has room to turn it from trash to good.
tl;dr:
Racist Bonnie & Clyde commit hate crimes on aliens with their final goal being genocide.
