Blue Exorcist brings back so much nostalgia. I still remember watching the first season on TV, it was one of those shows that pulled me in instantly. There was something special about experiencing it weekly, the opening song, seeing Rin release his blue flames for the first time and even the moments of comedy all stuck with me. Now, watching this new season, I can’t help but feel that same excitement I did back when I first discovered the series.
The Blue Night Saga finally gives us all the backstory we’ve been waiting for. Mephisto and Rin dive into Yuri Egin’s memories and see how she
...
met Fujimoto and eventually become exorcists together. Also we get the whole lore on Satan, we finally get to see how he was created, what his true nature is, and most importantly, his connection to Yuri. This season doesn’t have as many fights as previous one, but the tension is always there. The storytelling is so well done, the pacing is good, there are no random additions and nothing feels forced or unnecessary. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better continuation.
Compared to the previous seasons, the animation has improved a lot. There’s no weird use of CGI, no slideshow of still frames and everything is fluid and feel super consistent from start to finish. You can tell the studio really put effort into keeping the visuals as strong as the narrative. Obviously, the animation is not top-tier like some of the big Shonen anime are getting these days( JJK, Dandadan...) But honestly, can we really complain? It’s still great animation for what it is. Everything else like the OST, voice acting is on point.
Honestly, I don't understand why Blue Exorcist isn’t more popular. When the first season was airing, it was everywhere. Everyone was talking about it. But now, it doesn’t seem to have the same level of recognition it once did. But anyway, I’m glad for all the Blue Exorcist fans. We waited five years to get a second season, and now we enjoying the 5th season. Even if the show isn’t as big as it once was, we’re not letting this anime die.

One of Berserk’s strongest elements is its storytelling, it remains a classic in dark fantasy storytelling. Having inspired an entire generation of dark fantasy stories, from Claymore to AOT to souls games. The way it builds tension is what glues you to the screen and makes you binge-watch this show. At first, Berserk gives you hope that Guts and the Band of the Hawk might find happiness, but simultaneously dropping small hints of the phantasmal prophecy awaiting them. It very slowly pulls you in, with the simple medieval action story before ripping it all away in the most brutal way possible.
Each character in Berserk, no
...
matter how small their role, push the story forward in some way. And the relation between Guts, Griffith and Casca form the core of the story. Guts, the 100 man slayer is grappling with his internal conflict- between his long plead loyalty to Griffith and finding his own dream beyond being a mere sword for hire. Griffith, with each battle won, flies higher and higher toward his ambitions, until he reaches a height so great that the heat from the sun melted the wings of the angel who was destined for greatness. One the other hand, Casca is the only female warrior in the Band of the Hawk, struggling to find a place in this masculinist battlefield. She is torn between her unrequited love for Griffith and her ambivalence feelings for Guts. Every single character in Berserk makes you feel the weight of every loss, every betrayal, every hopeless moment.
Now, the animation is undeniably outdated. But the soul of Berserk shines through this animation. If anything, I think that this old school animation fit perfectly with the atmosphere of the world, and the emotions. On top of that you add the legendary soundtracks. Usually, I'm not someone to care too much about OST, but the Guts theme is an absolute banger.
Berserk(1997) has no real conclusion, even for me the way it end is frustrating. This anime is too good to be this short, the only option? Read the manga.

Solo Leveling, a.k.a Aura leveling is a story that’s pretty much just about farming aura and not much else. This anime might appeal to people looking for flashy fights and endless power-ups, but in any good faith, I could recommend this anime to people who's seeking for a meaningful storytelling.
The main character, SJW, comes off as a bland figure devoid of human emotions. His struggles are superficial, his emotions barely visible and except the fact that he needs to farm more aura, he has no real motivation to go into the gates. SJW entire character revolves around the fact that he is perfect. And
...
perfection itself is a curse, he is too strong, too competent and too infallible to be an interesting character to watch. A character who cannot fail, who cannot doubt, who cannot suffer in a way that feels real, is not a character at all but a puppet. This also has a big impact on the fights, because there is no weight to these fights, no sense of stakes or danger. The outcome is never in question, of course he will win, of course he will grow stronger.
Now, the side characters only exist for SJW and nothing else. These characters are hollow, their lives and struggles reduced to mere footnotes in Jin Woo’s narrative. They do not grow, they do not change, and they do not matter beyond their utility to the protagonist. I’m not saying Solo Leveling is a bad show, it has its moments and a certain appeal for fans of overpowered protagonists and flashy fights. But when you compare it to other battle shonen that are more engaging and interesting, why would I choose to watch this show instead?
In the end, SoloLeveling is huge disappointment for me. It offers no challenge, no insight, no connection, only the shallow satisfaction of watching a man climb a staircase whose steps were carved for him before he even took his first step.
