Just when I thought this story couldn't get any better, "Episode 6" tops all. I typically do not rate things as "10s" but Ryūkishi07-san somehow manages to reach the pinnacle of writing in his stories.

Where do I begin... aside from the narrative becoming an epic love ballad for Battler and Beatrice, I really like how Erika's character was developed in this arc. In the last, I saw her as a little snot, albeit a cute one. I liked the development of her relationship with Dlanor.

As well as Erika's masochistic dynamic with Bernkastel, this is the first arc where we really get a glimpse of Lambdadela's ...

This light novel series was supervised and penned by Khara's mechanical designer, Ikuto Yamashita, and I must say... it is really nice to see a lot of shelved "conceptual" ideas breathing new life throughout the books! It was a treat to read from start to finish, and while I thought the ending could have been stronger, it was really incredible to see concepts like multiple Rei clones functioning in tandem with autonomous personalities, as well as Hikari Horaki (yes, Hikari Horaki as in the cute country bumpkin, student counsel president) as an EVA pilot! While parts of the story were filled with a lot of ...

The "episode" (4 volumes) really made me realize why the original game was so long, it was very good in its emotional beats, yes; but it also was a bit overwhelming with how much is packed into each volume. The later manga formula of 6 volumes per "episode" would have been a strength in this arc!

The arc with Eva Ushiromiya is interesting. She has the conflicting sides of the "good" aunt and mother, versus the child who wants to fulfill her dream as the heir to the family (note: this is artistically conveyed in a Perfect Blue-like disconnect between egos), but was discriminated against because ...

By far the most gruesome installment of the series yet, with this we are shown the absolute, almost child-like cruelty of Beatrice and we are also introduced to the pantheon of witches: to Bernkastel "Magic of Miracles" and Lambdadelta "Magic of Certainty".

This feeling explores Shannon's feelings for George, and Kanon's for Jessica - and what it means to live as furniture: objects that are given sentient life through the use of magic. This was also a strong volume for Maria and Rosa, I almost teared up during their touching moments together.

Overall, very well-paced and thought-provoking… I did not rank this volume as high as the ...

Conceptual sister to Agatha Christie's famous novel "And Then There Were None" - the narrative is a murder-mystery that takes place on an island estate.

The Ushiromiya family have gathered to decide who will get the inheritance, so you already know nothing good will happen ⚠️ spoilers: after many of the family members and household occupants are found slaughtered, and thus the fable of Beatrice the witch is brought to light.

There is a strong psychological aspect to the story because it's a battle between logos and pathos essentially. Do you believe that a beloved family member is the culprit, or do you ascribe the killings to ...

In a race against time, the Saints must save Saori and keep Hades from plunging the universe into the Great Eclipse! This addition to story is less climactic than the explosive "Inferno" arc, but the narrative does its job and fills in all of the open plot holes, though it feels like it's dragged out a little bit too long. Pandora's past is finally revealed and her arc ends with the audience getting closure about the purpose of her existence in the series!

Mixed Feelings
"Saint Seiya: Meiō Hades ~ Inferno" is the best "Hades" series and although the director and cast were — almost all — replaced, the spirit of Saint Seiya is stronger than ever before! One of the most interesting aspects of the Saint Seiya franchise, for me, has always been the mythos and the generations of characters that inherit the Cloths! So, a chapter that focuses on the underworld, a place that was only briefly alluded to during the original fight against Cancer Deathmask, is infinitely interesting! Ikki and Shun's brotherly love is also put to the test, when Hades selects Shun as a his host, ...

Tenshi no 3P! (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
I originally dropped this series, it felt kind of exploitative to have a character in high school help three, orphaned elementary schoolers — who all openly flirt with him. Truthfully, it gave me the heebie-jeebies, especially when there started to be more and more uncomfortable ecchi scenes. But, I gave it chance again, shortly after I became a fan of "Rō-Kyū-Bu!" — which is by the same writer, Sagu Aoyama, and their stories are always a ray of light through a cracked window sill of ethical obscurity.

Kamisama no Memochō is a series that I bought on a whim from a RightStuf sale and even though the pacing can be glacial, the last three episodes rewarded the audience's lenience, after having to sit through many scenes with alienating dialogue and lackluster writing. Moments with the criminally cute Yūko and her interactions with the "NEET"s could be charming, though sometimes, it felt as if Kamisama no Memochō may have been too ambitious and overwrought with dangling strings to really be effective as a single cour anime!

Skip Beat! (Anime) add
This series is the antithesis to Ai Yazawa's Nana! While Nana is a coming-of-age story about young adults pursuing their passions and having mature romantic relationships, Skip Beat is about Kyōko Mogami, a teenage girl who drops out of high school to get a full-time job, so she can simp for her childhood crush... and when he inevitably betrays her, her solution is... to stalk him and join the same talent agency, to get her revenge by becoming more famous than him! The premise is just as vapid as it sounds and while I occasionally like a nice romance anime to shut my mind off ...
