After just finishing the first season of this show, I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't have high hopes for this anime, and it definitely got me interested right after the first 2 episodes. I never saw the original, but seeing the high praise it received, I decided to give this version, with up to date animation, a try.
It's definitely not a typical anime, and dives deep into aspects of society and government. It shows a society with democracy, a society ruled by dictatorship and tyranny. What I love the most about this show, is despite being in the future, it makes social aspects
...
feel very accurate and real. Such things like, corruption and uprising are big in this anime. This might not be for everyone, not everyone watches anime to see a struggle in idealism, or how people believe society should be ran.
In terms of characters, it's definitely rushed for the supporting characters as i feel 0 connection or remorse for them. The only developed character is Yang, who is our main character. But even the main characters from the other side of the conflict, Siegfred and Reinhard, are still missing some development as well.
I have 0 problems with the animation/sound. I am very excited to see what is next and how this series will end. If you're into high action and supernatural, this obviously isn't for you. This anime explores mature ideas of governing bodies and differing ideas on how society is ran.

I find the best animes are the ones where you want to see how it ends but you really dont want to see it end. This is the feeling i had through out Mirai Nikki. I was excited for the ending but was crushed that such a great show had to end. This review is not meant to spoil any of the story and its purpose is to only convince you to watch this show.
I've seen more than my fair share of bad reviews on Mirai Nikki and they bring up a lot of good points. It has more than its fair share of plot
...
holes, characters do unexpected things that seem to happen unexplained and possibly out of order. But i believe if you look past all these plot holes you get a great show, love story (Sort of) and an amazing character in Yuno. Some endings seem forced but despite all that i fricken loved this show. I loved the story of Yuno and Yukki and i even love all the little thing about the other characters. Sometimes it feels like Yuno is carrying this show on her back but thats okay considering she is one of the most unique characters i have seen in anime and may go down as one of my favorite anime characters of all time.
This show kept drawing me back in with insane plot twists and i just needed to know what would happen next and most of all what would happen with our main characters relationship. Yes, this anime is full of plot holes but despite all that this was one of the most enjoyable rides i had and i certainly wont forget it. TBH i wish there could be more but there isnt very much else to do with this show. I highly recommend giving Mirai Nikki a try and just forget about whats wrong and focus what is great about this story.
PS: If you want a happy after its all over dont forget to watch Mirai Nikki Redial!

Lately i have found much enjoyment in Dark animes, Tokyo Ghoul was to much satisfaction giving me all the Dark Fantasy anime i needed. This show really gets going quite early and with only 12 episodes in the first season, that is expected. Regardless there is enough material in those 12 episodes to leave me wanting more.
First off the story of Tokyo ghoul is a frightening dark one, more so then what i was expecting. Our main character Ken Kaneki is faced with the burden of becoming a ghoul (Not by choice, watch and find out why.) he must find ways to deal with
...
the many problems a ghoul faces, for example being hunt down by Anti-Ghoul investigators or learning how to accept eating humans. On the way he meets other Ghouls who become his friends and help guide him through these hard trials. It is your typical Dark Anime story: A character accepting his new way of life. Eventually we learn there are good ghouls who try and co-exist with humans and bad ghouls who want to rid of the humans. The story leads to a 3 way battle between the "good ghouls" (Anteiku), the "bad ghouls" (Aogiri Tree) and the Commission of Counter Ghouls.
I have not much to say about Art and Sound as I do not watch anime for those reasons, But i will say i had no problem with anything of the sort in Tokyo Ghoul.
Back to our main Character Ken Kaneki, a human who becomes a ghoul. His character does not take well to the transition of becoming a human eating ghoul (who would) alot of crying and weeping occurs for Ken Kaneki, sadly enough it takes along time for it to end. I was hoping the transition to him accepting his new life and becoming the hero of the story would happen sooner. There are a few moments were we see the potential he holds but it doesn't come to full capacity until we near the end. Outside of Ken Kaneki we dont get a view into any of the characters other lifes, and once again with only 12 episodes it is quite hard to. Toka's life (One of the first "good ghouls" ken encounters) is still much of a mystery come the end of season. As well as Hide, kens bestfriend who is a human. On a side note i did enjoy the character Shū Tsukiyama who really embraces the Dark side of this anime with his fond appetite and sadistic ways.
Overall Tokyo Ghoul was quite dark and a few times made me cringe, and in a way thats what makes me like it. Backed up by an interesting story of the life of a Ghoul and i find myself pretty satisfied.Still, 12 episodes was not enough and i hope the 2nd season explains alot more about the background story of some of the characters. Also quite excited to see the new Ken Kaneki. Tokyo Ghoul season 1 receives a solid 8.2 thriving off the interesting life of a Ghoul!

The first season of attack on Titan was one of the most interesting animes i have watched. A great story with still so much to be discovered. I found that the story represents a racial war. You see the titans almost have no reason to kill as many humans as they do. It represents what Caucasians did to the african Americans back in the slavery years.
With a great story, exceptional graphics the only place i saw Attack on Titan go wrong was the characters. Now im not being to critical, we can all imagine that we would be just as traumatized and upset as
...
Eren, Armin and the others are due to the fact that there are giant Titans eating all your friends and family. But its just not your typical anime characters. There is so much crying and a lot of the show is characters weeping about how terrible there life is, its just not the anime i am used to. Maybe, in a way thats what makes it better than most anime, the fact that characters show so much emotion. Instead of having a fearless character like Goku or Inuyasha you have characters who are scared and admit their fear.
Attack on Titan is a wonderful story and I myself can not wait for Season 2. I give the first season a solid 9/10.

Parasyte the Maxim my favorite anime. A beautiful story that in the end shows you alot more than just an enjoyable time. For the first 5 episodes i was a little so/so on the show. The main character just wasn't for me at the time. But after a big change happens he really starts to come through and become the hero he needs to be. The part i liked the most about parasyte was the fact that it teaches how the world needs balances. Not all parasytes are monsters they just need to eat to survive, while others are in fact "monsters'. But at the
...
end of the show they show us how people can be monsters as well.
I wish there was more to this show, a second season would be wonderful even if it didn't follow Shinichi Izumi and instead was in the future about another Person infected with a parasyte. I recommended that everyone give this show a try and if you don't like it at first don't give up after a couple episodes. A solid 9.4/10 overall

Death Note was one of the first Dark animes i got into. The first half of Death Note was simply amazing. The character development of Light is easily one of the best points in this anime. What differs Death Note is the fact that fighting is limited. Instead of fighting Light and L battle it out with mind games and strategy. But as the series progress and the show introduces new characters, Mainly Near and Mello it really starts to trend downward. In-fact after the death of one of the characters everything starts to seem out of place. In the end Lights character seems to
...
get stupider as the series goes on and does things he would have never done at the start. It seemed as if the show was trying to wrap things up to quick.
If not for the second half of Death Note my overall rating would be much higher. The first half of the series is a solid 10, but with the second half seeming out of place and rushed it brings the series down to a 7.6.
