I know it's been a really long time since this manga was produced but holy sht I knew I was in for a cringefest starting from chapter 1. The amount of stereotypical character traits is too much. Reading it after all these years made me realize how storytelling had improved in today's standards.
I found a clip from the anime that looked really cool so I decided to give the manga a read but it's one of those instances wherein the anime is far better than the images in manga. If anything the anime is over-the-top while the manga is more of a grounded action sequence.

it should cater to my taste but surprisingly, I find the MC more inhumane than most edgy anime and manga I've read/watched.
Even if I understand MC's frustration and desire for his revenge, so far NONE OF THE DEATHS PROVED TO BE SATISFYING. It's more or less just a bloodbath in first 20 chapters or so. Both sides of the coin are hypocritical (as most things about revenge are) but it's so edgy to the point of being cringe. Both MC and the FMC (the supposed-to-be anchor for MC's humanity) turn out to be more of disgustingly idealistic individuals. The two characters are polar opposites ... |
