They are similar in aspect that both are adventure anime in which the main 2 characters go from country/city to country/city, meeting new people on their journey. The biggest difference between the two is that Spice and Wolf also features a romantic plot between the main 2 characters.

Done by the same animation studio and while that doesn't really mean much the two anime still share a lot of other common factors, such as the slice of life atmosphere and the theme about challenging yourself by following your dreams even when they seem impossible to others.

Looking for an unusual life. Let's say the life of people and other creatures from a fantasy world that only borrows elements from our world. Well then you are looking for one of those two anime series. The main difference between the two is the world presented. Konohana Kitan presents a world inspired by Japanese folklore, meanwhile Hakumei to Mikochi presents a world of small creatures, such as 9 centimeters tall humans.

Exploring a new world, which follows different rules from ours, in an episodic format is what the two series are about. In Hakumei to Mikochi we are introduced to the world of small creatures(everything from ants to 9 centimeters tall humans) and in the meantime Kino no Tabi presents us a world with a lot of different countries, each with it's own philosophy on living a good life.

Adventuring through an unknown world, meeting new people and great interactions between the main travelers; this is the main description that you can give to both series. The only difference is that in Girls' Last Tour the world is a post apocalyptic one in which the characters are trying to survive; while Shoulder a Coffin Kuro presents a fairytale like world, with a war going on on the sidelines, in which the main character tries to find a witch to get rid of her curse.

The aspect of letters holding the feelings of the sender appears in both anime. Also the two anime are, for the most part, episodic, meaning a story an episode.

Action with an element of gore is the way to describe those two anime. It takes a while for the monsters to appear in Berserk, but otherwise the two feel the same from an action standpoint. The only thing that is better in Berserk is the drama. Also both are anime movies with great CGI animation.

If what you want want is a lot of action with an element(more in Drifters) of strategy in it, than you are looking for one of those two. They differ in that one is about fighting aliens(Gantz:O) and the other is about fights between historical character with or without magical powers(Drifters).

Why do I recommend Gantz:O?Well, that is because of the action the two series present, the great character design for the antagonists and also for the psychological element they both present. They also feel similar in that they present a continues fight, that is if you take the slice of life, dramatic moments aside from Black Rock Shooter.

The two are similar in that both are sci-fi(also fantasy in the case of Vampire Hunter D) action-adventure stories with a rather powerful main character, who is covered in mystery and leaves an impact on the people he meets.

Princess Principal
add

The reasons the two are similar is because of their focus on individual missions, that don't have much in common other than the characters who complete said missions.Another common aspect of the two shows is that the main cast is mostly if not fully made out of girls from varying ages. The difference is that in Gunslinger Girl the girls are an experiment to create good assassins, while in Princess Principal they are spies who do their job mostly out of free will.

The two anime give out similar feeling when you watch them, from the way the episodes are directed, to the way they are portraying the action in general. And let's not forget the serious(but also realistic by adding the moments of relaxation) portrayal of war(in Princess Principal being internal and in Izetta being between countries). Both of these anime have a main cast of characters that consists mostly of female characters.

add

The main thing in common between those two anime is the fact that the main character goes to a fantasy world where he gains an incredible power. Re:Zero is more psychological and Zero no Tsukaima is more of a harem, romance but both of them have good action. You may find it annoying that those main characters don't try to go back to their main world, but in the end both series are a lot of fun.
