Short plot summary: A highschool has a pratical where a boy and girl get randomly paired and gotta act married while an automated camera watched and rates their performance, which will allow them to graduate.( idk what this proves, but hey, i'll take that over arithmetics any day. hahahaha...wait, they still gotta do that too? shit). Jirou, a simple nerdy nice guy with not many friends ( like me! except i have no friends) gets paired up with a gal, Akari, while their respective crushes get paired up together. So now they gotta get into the top monthly places in hopes of changing partners with
...
their crushes. But, how do 2 teenagers act married without developing feelings for each others? Trick question! They can't! Dummy!
Despite being a manga that really has only one somewhat original concept, the part about the marriage practice, that's still only the reason for why the characters have to live together. But that concept does have the added bonus of the characters having to act all lovey-dovey right from the get go, so it's a nice way to jump start the feels between the characters.
The characters are fairly generic but there's nothing original anymore so at this point it's practically pointless to even bring up originality in....anything really. That said, the characters are fairy enjoyable, particularly the interactions between the male and female mc.
Akari is a delicious blend of sassy, sweet and snarky attitude that makes you fall for her immediately while thinking " This bitch, i fucking love her!"
In many ways, she carries the whole series with her charm and kinda aggressive way she just goes straight for the "neck" of our and Jirou's heart.
Speaking of Jirou, he's....not totally clueless, so that's saying something for the "nice guy that isn't too sociable and kinda nerdy" character.
As you can tell, this manga won't break any records and terraform Mars, BUT it's a damn good read. And i don't say that often, unless you pay me to, which the author of this series didn't, so you know i'm talking the true true.
But seriously, you can really feel the emotions in this series. Every bit of progress the mc's do in their relationship gives you an extra knot in your neck and a butterfly in your stomach.
And while the outcome might be predictable, the way there will give you a thrill ride of emotions and make you wish a sassy 'bitch" that dresses pretty scantly was living with you as well, you know, just in case that wasn't already the case.
Btw, Akari is high key the best waifu i've seen in a while.
Con: release schedule sucks. My advice, set an allarm to ring in like 2 years and see if the series is completed. If not, add another year.
